Me, Leaf, Potens, and Kain were talking on skype when we had an idea - let's watch anime together! It'd be a great idea, just like the ol' anime clubs at school, only not as fail!
So that's what we decided to do. Sorta. Ish. What we wound up doing was this: Each Saturday, we'll all get together and watch an anime. Since anime's also getting scarce with the good stuff, we're also making recommendations as we go along, so we'll use those to decide what we're going to be watching once we finish one show. We'll typically watch things show at a time, split up into five or six episodes of that show per week (unless the show sucks, then we'll change the next week).
The anime viewing sessions are not exclusive to Jovians, rather, this is an invite FROM the Jovians to hang out and enjoy a weekend of watching anime. If you care to join us, nab the anime via your way of choice and join us on skype. Contact me at RoleOfToK there, and I'll add you to the JAAA chat. Alternatively, if y'all wanna join in, you can do so in the cbox - however, DO NOT SPOIL episodes for those who haven't seen the rest. If you go on past the scheduled viewings, DO NOT spoil it for the rest of us.
Note that discussion of the anime is not to take place in this thread, as it could count as spoilers for people trying to catch up after missing a week - it's for signups and announcements. Please use the Skype chat and Cbox for JAAA discussion.

Madoka Kaname is an Ordinary Middle School Student with a working mother, a stay-at-home dad and a close circle of friends. Other than a strange dream about a black-haired girl fighting off a huge monster in a ruined city, her life is a peaceful one. Then, one day, that black-haired girl, Homura Akemi, transfers to their class.
Things begin to change when, after school, Madoka hears someone's voice calling out to her. This voice belongs to Kyubey, a small ferret-like creature. She and her best friend, Sayaka Miki, then find themselves in a bizarre dream world where they witness an upperclassman, Mami Tomoe, transform into a magical girl and save them from otherwordly monsters. Kyubey then asks Madoka and Sayaka to become magical girls, too...
Too bad things simply are not as they seem to be.
Bringing together an all-star staff, Puella Magi Madoka Magica has Studio Shaft animating, Shaft's primary director Akiyuki Shinbo directing, Yuki Kajiura producing the music, Nitro+'s Gen Urobuchi writing and Ume Aoki designing the characters for Shaft's first original series. The show started airing in January as part of the Winter 2011 season, though is currently on hiatus due to the recent earthquake in Japan. Supposedly broadcasting will resume in April.
Currently has two ongoing manga series: a manga adaption of the anime, and a spin-off entitled Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice, which focuses on a different cast. A third manga series, Puella Magi Oriko Magica, will be released after the anime's conclusion; it will be a prequel featuring the eponymous Oriko along with Kyoko and Mami.

Yumeji Fujiwara has a strange ability. He can see the aura of peoples' dreams. Around himself, there is a black aura. A nightmare. Though Yumeji lives a comfortable life with his childhood friend Isana and his school's Literature Club, he's had a recurring dream of cats. Multiple cats attacking him, trying to claim his body so they can cross over from the nightmare to our world.
There is another party involved. A girl in a strange set of clothes. She falls on top of Yumeji one day and, after getting her hat back, finds her way into his world. Her name is Merry Nightmare, a dream eater. She has no memories of where or who she was, and seeks to return to the world of dreams.
Based on a manga by Yoshitake Ushiki. Yumekui Merry was adapted into an anime in the winter of 2011 by JC staff. Touhou Project fans may recognize the author from his doujinshi work Advent Cirno, and the people handling the music as IOSYS.
Quote from: TVTropesAngel Beats
Angel Beats! Is a Light Novel, Anime and Manga series by Key Visual Arts. The Light Novel was the first to see publication in November 2009, spanning seven chapters and one special until its completion in May 2010. The series was authored by Jun Maeda, illustrated by GotoP, and published by ASCII Media Works in Dengenki G's Magazine.
A Manga adaption quickly followed the Light Novel, under the title of Angel Beats! The 4-koma, first published in December 2009. Also authored by Jun Maeda and illustrated by Haruka Komowata, the manga was again published by ASCII Media Works in Dengenki G's Magazine. The manga is currently ongoing.
A thirteen episode anime installment of the work was also developed, simply named Angel Beats!. The series is again written by Jun Maeda and directed by Seiji Kishi for studio P.A. Works and began airing on April 3, 2010.
Finally, a second manga was published, coinciding with the completion of the Light Novel series. This manga, Angel Beats! Heaven's Door, is again written by Jun Maeda, illustrated by Yuriko Asami, and once again published by ASCII Media Works in Dengeki G's Magazine. First seeing publication in May 2010, his manga series is also ongoing.
The Light Novel and Manga served as a prequel to the rest of the series, following the character of Hinata and detailing the formation of the SSS. The anime adaption follows Otonashi, a boy who lost his memories of his life after dying. He is enrolled into the afterlife school, which seems to exist as a middle ground between Heaven and Earth, where students learn to give up any lingering attachments to life before finally going to heaven. Otonashi then meats a girl named Yuri who invites him to join the SSS – Sinda Sekair Sensen (Afterlife War Front) – an organization which fights against God and the student council of the school led by Angel.
And now, it's been recently announced that Angel Beats! Has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks, the founders of ADV Films, for the North American release. No surprise, considering that they picked up many key titles in the past. The series will be released with an English dub with the first episodes being shown in Anime Boston.

The really weirdly named story of a gym teacher who has to crossdress to get a job. I My Me! Strawberry Eggs is a thirteen-episode anime series created by TNK and Pioneer and initially ran on Japanese TV in 2001. There is also a manga adaption.
The series follows Hibiki Amawa, a young, idealistic man who has recently graduated from college with a degree in physical education. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to find an opening in his field, and is behind on his rent so far that his landlady Lulu holds his dog hostage. At least Hibiki finds an advertisement for a position at Seito Sannomiya Provate School. But when he applies, Hibiki is turned down flat. While the school itself is co-educational, the principal refuses to hire male teachers.
Upon learning the situation, Lulu offers to help Hibiki out by disguising him as a woman – turns out that the landlady has a suspiciously field-ready assortment of gadgets for just such a purpose. Sure enough, with this and some slightly altered paperwork, Hibiki is able to start work at school.
Naturally, things don't go smoothly. Not only does Hibiki have to conceal his true gender from everyone at school, but the misandrist attitude of the school administration is causing discipline problems with the male students and friction between boys and girls. And when one of Hibiki's students, Fuko Kuzuha, starts getting a crush on "her", well...
But it isn't all bad news. Hibiki manages to connect with the students and mediate between them with some success, and even gets the administration to ease off on some of the more blatantly stupid rules.
Episodes 1-5 of Madoka were viewed on April 9th, 2011.
Episodes 6-10 of Madoka were viewed on April 16th, 2011.
Episodes 1 of Merry, Angel, Index, and I My Me will be viewed on April 23rd, 2011.
The club will take place every Saturday, at a time generally agreed to in the JAAA skype chat. Time discussion will occur on Thursday and finalized on Friday, so that everyone is aware of their plans that day. JAAA will be scheduled at a time that most people will be able to watch.
A magical girl anime?... Eh, the reviews are really good, and almost all of them talk about how it's very different, and has a darker tone than most magical girl anime's, so why not?
5 episodes in 1 day may be a bit much though.
Each episode is about 20 minutes long, about an hour and forty minutes, not including the discussion. I would have suggested only two or three episodes at a time but I couldn't hear a thing over how bad the call was last night.
Aye, keep in mind that commercials don't exist here. That's a good seven minutes off each episode right there, and since MKVs allow you to have skippable sections, you can spit the OPs and EDs as well. Really cuts down on time. I imagine maybe two and a half hours AFTER discussion and the like. Make sure you get a good fansubber, though - I recommend NOT getting GG, they're known for sucking. I actually like Chihiro's jobs, despite a lot of bashing they've gotten in the past. If you nab them, I suggest getting Chihiro's - I'll be seeding it for you, too.
I might. Might. Depends on what I'm doing. Mom might decide to have her driving tyraid like usual.

Um...I doubt it. This anime just recently came out and although I know MasakoX, I don't follow his channel.

I still have a huge grudge against you. You should know better than to ask me. Unless you're willing to make a nice,
long, well written apology
in the appropriate place, then don't expect too much respect for me. I am not necessarily barring you from joining, but you cannot join by asking
me to add you, that's for certain. You'll have to find someone who's in the club and willing to add you to it.
Was unexpectedly busy today, so I missed it. Ah well, there's always next week!
@whiz: Post your skype name and we can add you for next time. =)
@zman: I'll add you for next week if you want; this is open to everyone, after all. However... just giving you fair warning, here, but if you say anything stupid, expect to be kicked right away. Probably by role. As for whether or not you should make a new account, that's up to you, but if you value your anonymity, it's recommended.
Ah, it's Hoopa. Got the episodes, so I'll work on catching up. Also, I have a crappy mic... is that ok?
Of course! Charon doesn't even have a mic. I'll go add you right now if you're on.
Mic, no mic. It's fine. Just DON'T CALL US IN THE MIDDLE OF AN EPISODE. -Shakes a fist towards Sleipnir- If the green button says "Call Group" don't hit it. If it says "Join Call" go for it! XD
Anyways, next time on Role, Potens and Kain watch Anime ( XD Just kidding! )...we're viewing Madoka Magica episodes 6-10! As said in the c-box, on Thursday and Friday we will be holding discussions over the first five episodes and discussing a time for everyone to start viewing together since 3 CST wasn't a good time last time.
Saturday will most likely be the day we view again but the time needs to be set. Also on Sunday or later Saturday, we will be discussing what to watch for the week after, but we'll worry about that later!
If you haven't been added to the Skype chat yet, post your username in here or if you're shy, PM it to myself, Role, leaf or Mastermind and we'll see about getting you in. That's all for now!

Umm for what??? If I remember correctly I left the clan, and Was warned about being kicked because of One: Bad spelling and two using to many emotes to explain something. (I used ... 35, when 2-3 would have been enuff) so I am not saying sorry for spelling bad.
But the emote thing... Sorry and I won't use more emotes then needed from now on.
Finaly, I couldn't let it go at first and for about a week and said some mean stuff about you and I guess you didn't like it...
So for that I am sorry role. Also if there is something to do with my resent ban Tell me where and we will get to the bottom of this.

I saw the first episode of the anime last week.
So for you who have watched more then the first episode let me know what you think thanks.
The appropriate place would be in its own thread, so as to not go off topic.
And do you really not remember just what you did to piss me off? Here's a hint, it's NOT your posting style. Here's another hint: It is literally impossible to have both an IQ of 170 and be clinically retarded due to the VERY DEFINITION of what being clinically retarded is (by the most liberal version - <70 IQ).
The appropriate place would be through PMs since it's a 1 on 1 conversation, and if the discussion gets too heated on the forums you'll be causing trouble for yourself.

You should at least watch up to episode 3 in my opinion before you start judging it too much, it does get rather interesting.
No... no thats not what I mean.
I saw the first episode but didn't really get into it.
But then I saw a few reviews that said that it was average but got better as it went on so...
I would like to know if it gets better and if it's good for the long haul.
As you know I am writing my own anime type story and have been watching lots of anime and taking notes on them.
so all I want to know is this a pretty good anime and worth watching until the end or not.
It's not finished airing yet so no one could tell you how good it gets toward the end. Like I said, it does get more interesting, and you should at least watch up to episode 3 to decide for yourself whether it's something you'll be interested in.
ok good. thank you Atrius thats the kind of answer I was looking for.

The show? It's good. REAL good. Dunno if we're going to be able to see the last few eps, though, since there's rumors the show may have been cancelled after the sendai earthquake... let's hope it's just rumors, though, because I've not seen an anime this good is a very long time. Can't wait to see the next five eps.
I promise I'll get around to watching these episodes by the time I get a mic. I suck when it comes to watching anime though so I'm gonna have to push myself. lol
It'll need to be before Saturday, as we will be watching the next five episodes.

Umm... is that really a spoiler???
Edit: I put it in a spoiler box.
How about I say it one of the best anime's with one of the most complacated storys I have seen in a long time!
(I love complacated storys, contrary to popular belief...)
I'd recommend it to any one who enjoys anime or mystery.
Edit: the anime for those who haven't read the above posts, is: "Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika"
So guys when will this live anime vewing be this week?
Well, due to the fact that only me and Mastermind showed up for this weeks meeting, it's cancelled for this week.
To be honest, I'm kinda pissed. To have half the active board say "this is a great idea!" and not show up for TWO WEEKS IN A ROW kinda rubs me the wrong way.
Either way, catch up to Madoka on your own, I guess. Once the final episodes are subbed, we'll watch them in addition to whatever eps are next on whatever anime we choose for next week's viewing. Of course, if nobody shows up for the next two weeks either, I'm saying "Screw it" and shutting the club down all together.
Hell, guys, I'm even having it so that we try to get a time that's good for everyone, and STILL I get bailed on. Man, this sucks... <_<
I woke up forty five minutes after. I did NOT intend to sleep that long and had planned to be up by at least noon.

And I don't blame her.
I know in my case it can't really be helped sometimes given the nature of my job. True enough though, if people aren't going to show up there's no sense in having the meetings. Would it be a better option not to do the skype meetings, and just have the discussions here on the forums instead? I completely understand the appeal of having live meetings like that, but if it proves to be impractical...
Anyway, want to start discussing what to watch next? I'm pretty sure this is a fairly complete list of this season's anime (http://www.animeph.com/spring-2011-new-anime-season-preview-list).
I watch Seikon no Qwaeser for the plot. >.>
I nominate yumekui merry and from Atrius's list of ecchi things, Dog Days.
It's not my fault if most Anime these days is like that.
Steins;Gate, or [C] – The Money of Soul and Possibility Control would be my choices.
I missed it again... I even missed my college class...
does the anime have to be one of the ones that came out in the past 3 weeks or can it be older (any thing from 2010-2011)
Well here is what I vote for.
Steins;Gate
yumekui merry
Level E
Denpa Onna To Seishun Otoko
To Aru Majutsu No Index
I vote for any one of those.

Too bad nobody freaking showed up for that, either. The only one to say anything? Kain. At the last second, because nobody showed up to work on this. He figured we'd start two hours earlier, since that's when everyone showed up LAST time (only to poof away before we started). So we tried it, but nobody showed up.
@Zman: Thanks for the suggestions. However, it's not just recent anime. This is supposed to broaden our spectrum a bit, so we're open to older stuff too. Especially since most of the recent anime is nothing but smut-fests... So we really don't have a choice if we wanna keep it more PG-13 but to look to older stuff as well. If you have any suggestions for older things, feel free to suggest it.
Personally, I'm gonna nominate I My Me Strawberry Eggs.

No, that's not it. You were in the wrong clan to begin with - you clearly belonged in Venus, not Jupiter. It's what you did when we actually got off our butts enforced the rules that really set me off.
Sure, you're a guy. But so are 90% of people online, and they don't act like that - go make the appropriate place and make a public apology for the incident to all who were involved - BY NAME - and I'll stop being ticked at you. Then, you'll have to apologize to me again for making a snide comment about me being ticked at you in half your posts.
uuuuuuuuu........... ok... just give me some time on that...
and so this is totally not off topic... I add in a vote for Dog Days.
And role if that is really what it takes then I'll do it... just don't expect me to find all the posts over night... ugg
We're actually thinking of swapping to doing one episode of several series, rather than several episodes of a single series.
So basically, we'd be able to watch the first episodes for several series, rather than the first five of one. What do y'all think of that?
Basically, our options are:
- straight: What we were doing, watching 3-5 eps of a single series, preferably doing it by arc
- split: 2 eps of one anime, and 2 eps of another
- variety: 1 ep of four different series
Personally, I'm partial to split. We would finish madoka this week and start another series. Then instead of just watching 4-5 eps straight of the second series the week following, we'd watch 2 of it, and start another anime for the other 2.
Also...
@Role: Cut it out. If you want to @#$%& at zman, do it in PMs. I'm sick of reading this argument in this thread.
@Zman: Feel free to contact me on skype, and I'll add you to the chat. Just make sure I know it's you. My skype name is the same name as on the forum.
So far we have 9 nominations, doing a variety for ~3 or so episodes into each series then cutting it down to what people consider the two best would probably work well. It'd be a little awkward with finishing up Madoka in the process, but we should be able to work something out.
# of nominations - Show Name
2 - Yumekui merry
2 - Dog Days
2 - Steins;Gate
1 - [C] - The Money of Soul and Possibility Control
1 - Level E
1 - Denpa Onna To Seishun Otoko
1 - Toaru Majutsu No Index
1 - I My Me Strawberry Eggs
1 - Seto no Hanayome
How long do we want to hold nominations? Do we want to do an actual poll afterwards, or just let people second nominations and go with whatever gets the most?
Actually, Yumekui Merry has 3 nominations and I My Me Strawberry Eggs along with Index also got 2 nominations.
I don't see whose nominations I'm missing unless they did it somewhere else. If that's the case it would be impossible for me to count them to begin with.
Yumekui - Overlord Kain, zman
I My Me Strawberry Eggs - Role
Index - zman
Edit: Nvm. Saw the post, it was just a list.
Well, I can second index for being a good anime, but I'm not sure if we want to be using a 24 ep anime for this; it would take a long time to finish. Index is also divided into arcs that are for the most part very conveniently spaced (the longest arc is the first one, at 6 episodes), so it'd probably be a better candidate for an arc-based meeting schedule. (IIRC, the arcs are split up at 6-3-5-3-1-2-4. We'd probably combine the 1 and 2 into one meeting, which would mean it'd take 6-7 meetings to finish the whole thing, depending on if we split up the first arc.)
I'll have to look up the others on that list to see which I favor.
In the mean time, I'd like to add yet another suggestion: Angel Beats. I haven't seen it myself (and apparently, neither have role or kain), but it's supposed to be good.
wow... I completely for got about angel beats.
I just finished it last week.
I didn't want to watch it at first because it sounded like it was girls with guns vs girls with powers. well its not.
Its very good and if you are some one who will get caught up in a movie or anime you will cry. lol
So I also vote for Angel beats.
(Is it ok that i am voting for more then one... its just so hard to pick.)
You can vote for anything, however I'd like to ask you keep nominations to a minimal until we're done with a certain series/episode/however we're doing this from now on...that way we don't get overwhelmed with suggestions.
Yeah i see what you mean.
but if its one thats already posted and you like it you can vote for it right.
I mean it IS a vote to see what we as a group want to see after Madoka Magika.
but again we do have a big list so far... And its not my call... I have the least say in this. . . .
Well Madoka was technically the starter. At first it was going for a season, about five episodes per meeting but now we're changing it around to two episodes from two different shows. The idea being 11 and 12 of Madoka will be out on the 21st and since it's the last we can expect for some time, we're changing it around a bit.
The reason for the different episodes however is lost on me. I think it's to bring more variety in and to give a better chance for people to vote for what they like. If people actually like the viewings I would suggest we vote on whether to keep watching it or if it's not liked, swap out to another series.
I fail for not thinking of this anime sooner. Darker Than Black. That anime is literally perfect for this format of 2 eps of 2 shows. Every scenario is split into two parts, essentially making it more like 12 episodes, 40 minutes a piece, instead of 24 episodes, 20 minutes a piece.
I see what you mean.
I was just wandering what and how you were going to deal with anime longer then 24 episodes.
"Yumekui merry" looks like it will go longer then 24 easily!
"To Aru Majutsu No Index" is at 72 if you cound the side story 24 episodes.
looking at "Steins;Gate" that might be longer then 24...
And these are the top three right now (which i voted for)
even "Seto no Hanayome" is longer (by 2...)
Which brings me to my next question. I know the week just started but shouldn't we all start voting on the anime listed. most of have voted for what we added to the list but now (and this is just an idea) how about we each take 1 vote and vote for the next anime to watch?
Or we could just pick from the top 3, I'm happy with that. lol

WHOA WHOA WHOA, who decided this without me?
I personally prefer the 1 ep from 4 shows, since that way people can jump in whenever and not have to worry about catching up.
....... I VOTE FOR Role's IDEA!
I also vote for a round of voting for which anime we should add to the list of 3 open spaces first.
Over all I would say my votes: in order of choice: my top 4:
1. Steins;Gate (my vote)
2. To Aru Majutsu No Index (still happy)
3. Yumekui merry (if it turns out to be it, well ok)
4. Level E ( Well ok but I don't think it will be the one)
Either that, or vote for one and choose the top four. Either way, I'll gather the top ten choices and make a poll later this week, around Wednesday. Should give people enough time to torrent the episodes they need on Thurs/Friday when we're working on getting the time we're holding it straightened out.
Currently thinking about 5 PM CST right now.
Voting has now begun. Please cast your ballot for the show you want to see. The top four will be selected. If there is a tie for bottom place, the tie breaker will be decided by my personal choice.
*Edits the poll so that people can select up to 3 options, and resets it*
I don't have much time right now, but I'll look into why you couldn't make it that way later today, Role.
Thanks atrius, that'll be a big help later on.
I might be able to make it on Saturday, but it is unlikely that I will be able to do any conference calls or anything (stranger danger and all of that ). The most that I would be able to manage is textual communicating, provided that I finish my homework by then. The current likelihood that I can make it is about 60%, so I am going to wait until tomorrow to figure out for sure if I can make it or not.
However, I wanted to ask something; how do these sessions usually work?
Usually? We ask people to come, but nobody shows up. We're trying to change that.
Right now, since it's thursday/friday, we start asking people what time is best for them. Right now, we've got a time of 5 PM, the opposite of what we did last week (where we started at 1 PM, two hours before the first one). Each week we try to get a time that works with most people. Each week, we're ignored when we ask people.
...Please tell me you've got a time that you're free on Saturday. Give whatever the best time for you is, and we'll try and see if we have our meeting then.
Role, you should probably refer to times by x EST/y PST. Most everyone knows where they stand relative to those two, but they don't necessarily know where they stand relative to you. So, it would be 6 PM EST/3 PM PST.
Oh, whoops, meant to type that in. I guess I forgot - good call.
Since I have a family potluck coming up tomorrow, I will need a bit more time to finish all of my work. As such, I might not be able to stay for the whole session. If we can have it start at approximately 6:00 EST or something, that would probably be best for me. If I either forget to show up or show up late, it is likely because of work.

Perfect. That's when the meeting was gonna be, anyway. =p
And don't sweat it if you can't make the whole thing. I know I'm probably gonna be missing an ep of something in the middle because of when my family usually eats dinner (generally, anytime between 7 and 8 PM EST).
just to get this strait. It's "6PM EST" on Saturday. right?
@Leaf: I'll try to have that be when we show Index so you won't miss anything, 'k?
6PM EST works perfectly fine for me as long as nothing else comes up again this weekend.
Sorry guys and girls, but I can't join the meeting this time, because usually when you're beginning with the show, it's already evening for me (+8 hours) and I'm mostly already out of home for partys or sleeping. Oh well.
Here is what we're going to be watching!

Has been licenced by Sentai Filmworks, the founders of ADV Films, for the North American release. No surprise, considering that they picked up many key titles in the past. The series will be released with an English dub with the first episodes being shown in Anime Boston.

Quote from: TVTropes. Viewing begins at 6:30 PM CDTI My Me! Strawberry Eggs
Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to find an opening in his field, and is behind on his rent so far that his landlady Lulu honds his dog hostage.
Times are in Central Daylight Time. Please adjust your schedule accordingly.
Due to unexpectedly going from Newest to Oldest, I suggest we reverse the order next week. Since the first video was the latest, it set my expectations high, immediately and as we went down the list from latest to oldest...my enjoyment for each was getting taken downhill quickly.
Double post for great justice! Due to everyone kinda forgetting about the meeting...the scheduled meeting time will be the same as last week, which was 5PM Central Standard Time, 6PM Eastern Standard Time. Apologies for forgetting to bring up a standard meeting time this week and applying this one on such short notice.
Today we are watching the same four anime from last week (in reverse order) plus episode eleven of Madoka Magica. Here is the order of the episodes with the episode number.
Episode order will be as follows:
I My Me Strawberry Eggs - 2
To Aru Majutsu no Index - 2
Angel Beats - 2
Yumekui Merry - 2
Madoka Magica - 11
Again we apologize for informing everyone on such short notice. But we hope many of you can attend.
Due to being sent to an area where the only internet connection I have is an extremely unreliable 4kbps I will not be present.
I hope I'll be there. I am currently stuck on campus with out a ride... I don't know what time i will get home but I plan to be there.
Because of how many people were unable to come, we've postponed this meeting until next week. We will be watching the same episodes next week as were planned for this week, as the many of the reasons were unavoidable (ex: Exams, work, etc).
Currently, we're planning on holding JAAA at 5PM CST saturday, just as two weeks ago. Because many people had prior obligations such as exams and work, last weeks meeting was held back to this week. We will be watching:
I My Me EP2
Index EP2
Angel Beats EP2
Yumekui EP2 and
Madoka EP11
In that order. If you prefer a different time, suggest which time you want and we'll try and target the time that most people can access at once.
It seems we've come to a sort of crossroads regarding this anime meeting. Some of us wanted it to run differently. Others insisted that it keep going the way it has been going. Role is going to be absent this weekend and has decided to leave leaf and myself in charge of JAAA this week.
We're going to try something a little differently this time. First off, if you want to meet up and watch anime with us on Skype that is fine. We will still do that for members interested in doing such.
If you do not have Skype, do not like Skype or cannot use Skype for any reason...you are welcome to watch the anime in any way that you can and hold discussion here at the forum, this way anyone who wanted to join but was unable to do so can still be a part of the club.
This also gives members more time to reflect and make proper posts and thoughts about the episode in mind. Now we won't be strict about this. If there is an anime you do not want to watch on the list, you are welcome to skip it.
This weeks schedule consists of:
I My Me Strawberry Eggs - Episode 3
To Aru Majutsu no Index - Episode 3
Angel Beats - Episode 3
Yumekui Merry - Episode 3
Madoka Magica - Episode 12
Viewed at 3 PST/5 CST/6 EST.
If you have any questions, please PM leaf, myself or make a post here. If you need help finding torrents or streams we can help you.
Since we're having both the skype viewing (assuming there is still interest in that) and having the bulk of conversation moved to the forums, we need to set the time for when the threads open for discussion of the latest episode. There will be a separate thread for each anime we will be viewing. Until the scheduled meeting time, let's keep the discussion in those threads limited up to episode 2 (ep11 of madoka). After the meeting is adjourned at 6 PST, the threads will be open for discussion of latest episodes.
Note that if you wanna talk about anything that's happened beyond where JAAA has watched to, it must be spoiler tagged.
edit: Links to the new discussion threads.
I My Me! Strawberry Eggs (http://forum.goldensunhacking.net/index.php?topic=1307)

Angel Beats! (http://forum.goldensunhacking.net/index.php?topic=1305)
Yumekui Merry (http://forum.goldensunhacking.net/index.php?topic=1304)
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (http://forum.goldensunhacking.net/index.php?topic=1303)
Don't forget people! Tomorrow is when we watch episodes 3 for the shows, or episode 11 for Madoka. It will also be the time the threads will be open for those episodes discussion for those who have either watched ahead or have already seen the series.
I thought we were up to 12 for Madoka now.
We are. We'll be finishing madoka tomorrow.
I wasn't sure. Role canceled the past few times so I dunno.
Delayed once, Canceled the second time. If a meeting is canceled, people are expected to watch it for the next time. If delayed, we'll try to watch the same episodes next week.
It's delayed if too many people have prior things come up - such as finals and work.
It's canceled if people just plain don't show up.
I have made a list of the people who have posted in this topic as a way to determine the estimate activeness that this activity could have.
1. Role
2. Atrius
3. Overlord Kain
4. Charon the Ferryman
5. zman9000
6. Whizkidhv
7. leafgreen386
8. DarkGriever
9. Salanewt - Page 5
10. Sleipnir36 - Page 6
11. charleysdrpepper (This is my first post here, but I have seen this topic before.)
Now, let's do our taxes and say that only 10% of them will come. Now we add on the tip, which is one person. I think 2 people sounds kinda.. eh..
At this rate, it may be better to do if monthly. You would need may 3 people with "definites" and like 2 people with "maybes... The definites would be the ones kicked out the following month if they do not come on the current month.
Anyway. You are stopping this activity now, right? Quitting? Well, good luck!
I have stated I have little to no interest in anime. Just a reminder to you all so you don't get bummed out or anything. :)
I doubt we're quitting so don't get your hopes up. Today's meeting is going along and forum discussion is open for a week to allow other people who don't have/use/like Skype to comment on what they like for the show.
Charon isn't a member of the club. She has no interest in anime. EDIT: NINJA'D!!!
and I've yet to see Griever or Sleipnir show up.
Okay, but like I said in the first line, it was a list of people who posted here. These people know about this activity, so I'm sure word can spread. (Like you may know someone that likes anime and tell one person... the probability...)
I'm not really that much interested for anime either.. so...
Oh, and think if there was a completely different reason that a person would come not to watch anime but to do as a friend says or something... eh. (It is unlikely, but there are some people who like to be nice.)
Anyway, taking 10% excludes the "I don't like it" people/etc.)
This weeks JAAA session was a success. As of today we have finished Madoka Magica and will resume watching only four shows, those being I My Me, Yumekui Merry, Angel Beats and Index.
Episode 4 coming up. If people wish to drop a series after next week, voting will commence on doing so and if majority favors dropping the show, a vote will be set up for a new show to air in it's place.
Quoteand I've yet to see Griever or Sleipnir show up.
Yah i know i have not showed up .... i will graduate from University this week ... so i will be free to join -.- and i think i will have to catch up >_<

Really? Who all showed up?
I had both a birthday celebration and a broken PC fan keeping me from participating... even now, I'm using a public PC just to view the site... God I hope the part I need gets in soon.
leaf, myself, Atrius, zman and Hoopa. leaf left shortly after for dinner and Hoopa left midway through.
Huh, not bad. And here I thought that I'd probably be coming here to find out that nobody showed up again. We'll see how things work next week, then. I hope this attendance stays like this.
I was a little worried it would be cancled. but it looks like we might just have even more people next time.
I'm looking foward to the next meeting!
JAAA starts soon!
I have plans for tomorrow, so I'm not going to be able to attend the meeting.
Speaking of we never did anything formal to decide if we'll be dropping any shows, or replacing them with new ones, how are we going to handle that?
No need to worry about any of that ATM. JAAA is canceled due to Memorial Weekend. However, any voting can take place over the course of today going through Wednesday.
I My Me Strawberry Eggs
Angel Beats
Yumekui Merry
To Aru Majutsu no Index
Let the voting commence.
I think "postponed" would be a more appropriate term.
Also, we need to vote on what we want to keep and what we want to swap with something else.
How do we want to do this? Polls, or just nominate shows we want dropped, and if so many people second that nomination we drop it?
I figured it'd be a poll in each of the threads. "Shall we continue past episode 4?"
It'd be a yes/no option.
Each time an anime we're watching hits episode 4, it has to pass that test. Afterwards, I see no reason not to continue until the conclusion.
The polls are now added to each shows topic.
If we vote off one are we replacing it with "Steins;Gate or Level E" or are we going for something new? (thats not been voted on yet?)
edit: "Darker than Black", "Steins;Gate", and "Level E" each had the second mpst votes so if it one of the already voted on would it be them?
Nah, we do these separately. I'd also prefer us to at least have one show that's at least ten years old for sake of comparison to modern shows.
it doesn't have to be old, you could just have a not so well known anime and have the same effect.
but I like that idea, but it has to be good.
I'd prefer something that's at least 8-10 years old, though. The reason? Comparing things like art technique, general story trends, etc compared to modern anime (anime from the last 4 or 5 years).
wait... are we judging the anime? well anyway the only anime I know of thats older then 8 years it dragonball...
I think Role is trying to see whether anime has decreased or increased in quality over the last couple years... You know, like whether the story line was better and things like that...
I'm going to say increased mostly because the number of anime with good story lines has gone up like crazy in the past two years. My openion from what I have seen.
It's a combination of that, and the fact that I don't want it to all be recent stuff.
After some scrounging around here's a couple older Anime that caught my interest.
Irresponsible Captain Tylor
Nadia, the Secret of Blue Water
Serial Experiments Lain
This is a list of shows that are up for being added to the list. We have two slots open, what with Madoka Magica finishing and I My Me being removed from the list.

Now Tylor faces two uphill battles—against the Raalgon fleet that wants to kill him, and against his own crew, who expect him to conform to some standard of military discipline. Poll is open again for voting on 2 new shows to add to our line-up, everyone can select up to three shows. Note that at least one of the first 5 options WILL be added, so please use at least one of your votes on one of them. I've also removed the shows that got 0 votes last time from the list (Denpa Onna To Seishun Otoko)
Zman, I would like a word with you over skype when you get the time.
