This poll is here because I'm curious as to how many people really do like these forums.

I'm quite fond of it. It's quite useful and it is very easy to customize.

Of course, it sometimes doesn't like to work, but that's not enough to take it down for me :3

It'd be okay if not for ONE CRIPPLING THING - OMG forums doesn't like me posting.

This is the same for me, but it treats me even worse than that often. It;

Is Slow,
Logs me off when I have been away for an hour,
Logs me off when I am finishing a post, sometimes before it has been posted,
Loses connection at least 3 or 4 times a day,
And a few more minor things.

Okay, so this is basically it. This place would be fine as long as these problems could be fixed, but after a few weeks...

Have a nice day.

The only problem I have is that sometimes it loses connection. When it fails to post, I can just hit the back button cause I use Safari. I also don't get logged out automatically.

That's why Mac is so much better than Windows! *shot*

Hehe. Anyway, I am trying to think of ways to fix the problems on my end, although I doubt that I can do anything (this being my new computer that I got in June).

Have a nice day.

Does it run Vista? XP *shot by Windows fans*

It runs Windows XP. I don't care for Vista (I have not tried it, but many people that I know do not like it).

Have a nice day.

The fact that you're constantly disconnecting may have more to do with your computer than the server... I've only been unable to access the site twice, and I have a very shoddy connection. Plus, it came back when I refreshed the page in firefox.

And Jamie, I doubt the fact that it disconnects has anything to do with the Operating System either >_>

About copying posts - I'm quite used to doing it because I disconnect so often, so it's not that bad because it's a habit XD

Also,
Spoiler:

More new emotes, guys XD

Cool, thank you! The funny thing is that I just found out in the Editor's topic.

Have a nice day.

Wait... Er, where are Felix and the others?

Edit: I normally try that, but there are times where it goes by too quickly for me to copy successfully.

Felix and friends are under "Golden Sun PCs", which you have to select from the drop down menu.

Thought it would make more sense for them to have their own section.

Why is it that people think that their operating system is the reason why the site sometimes won't work >_>
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Rolina on 20, October, 2009, 06:37:00 PM
It shouldn't be.  If the site doesn't work, it's the site's fault...
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?

Exactly, except in rare cases when it's your DNS.
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Rolina on 20, October, 2009, 06:58:00 PM
True... but if we've got multiple people getting the SAME EXACT PROBLEM, regardless of OS (which honestly doesn't matter), Browser (which kinda matters), and ISP (which matters most), it seems to suggest that it's a matter with the site, not any of those things...
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?

Apparently the reason the server's been so wonky is because they've been switching servers...

Canadia peeps are still Canadia peeps.  I'd beat the crap out of you if you called me a "White American" or "Texas American" or something.  I'm an American, I don't need some secondary title.

Honestly, I don't look at myself as a member of a country... because people who do... remind me strangely of Glenn Beck...
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Rolina on 20, October, 2009, 10:04:00 PM
...You're not one of those lame people who bashes Glenn without actually watching his show, are you?

Either way, though, I just see no reason to segregate yourself.  The only creates pointless divisions in the community, and just leads to more pointless conflict.

Eventually, we'll be able to see past that, and just call ourselves Humans, but... that's gonna be several decades in the making at least...

This is true. Role, I understand why you say this.

Charon, I had a feeling that you meant France french people, I was just giving you a hard time (lol). By the way, Providence means: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/providence (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/providence)

I understand that it was a typo... Probably Province is what you meant, right?

Have a nice day.

Edit: Yes, I am from Ontario. Very good guess! Anyway, I agree that we are all just humans, or Homo sapiens.

Province, bloody hell, just call them States, its so much easier for the others to remember.

Providence is the capital of Rhode Island...
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Salanewt on 20, October, 2009, 10:22:00 PM
Oh cool. I would call them states, but Provinces are easier for me to remember, lol.

Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Rolina on 20, October, 2009, 10:37:00 PM
What is easier to remember depends on the region from which you hail.  For us, it's states, with a little s.

Either way, I'm happy here in Weird City USA.  Austin, Texas for the win (even if our cops are made of fail...)!

Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Rolina on 23, October, 2009, 04:59:00 PM
I've said it once, I'll say it again - I've moved all my topics once already.  I do NOT want to do it again.

But either way, if everyone flocks over to some other place, I'll have no choice... again...  :irate:
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Atrius on 23, October, 2009, 05:08:00 PM
Despite the fact that you're getting all these errors you wouldn't want to move again, even if it was to a more reliable host?
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Charon on 23, October, 2009, 08:10:00 PM
Actually, I think that having two archives is a bit much. Eventually, some people will complain about it, forcing us to move again...

Let's stay here a while before making any decisions.
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Atrius on 23, October, 2009, 08:15:00 PM
I don't like the fact that several members continually get errors while browsing the forums.  It's not anywhere near definite yet either, I certainly don't like the idea of moving again so soon.

I really wish I could browse using several different computers and figure out what the hell is going on.

I better start making a mercury theme XD
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Daddy Poi's Oily Gorillas on 23, October, 2009, 09:09:00 PM
Hmm. Mercury? This seems like a pattern doesn't it.

Jupiter- A nice breeze, yet it just went right by us.(invisionfree)
Fire- It's here in the present, yet it burns us all, only some of those can see it. (omgforum)
Mercury, A calm, peaceful place, it is the healer from fire, so we will get revived once again. (Simple Machines)

Will there be a connection with Earth?

I thought I would want to share this with y'all. :)

Edit: However, I am not saying that you are making a mercury theme because of Simple Machines, but I am just comparing.
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?

I'd rather get DSN errors than to move again.  I've said this many, many times.
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Salanewt on 25, October, 2009, 12:55:00 AM
Well, I am actually amazed that I have not logged out since I left yesterday afternoon, and returned almost 24 hours later. However, if you move again, I will most likely support it (unless you manage to find a place that has even more problems than here).

If you wish, a few of us could go to these different locations and do some testing?

Have a nice day.

Edit: Forgot to include this in the original post: I agree that we should stay here for at least another month or two before making any major choices about moving.
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Salanewt on 27, October, 2009, 02:44:00 PM
That is true.

I have a feeling that I might get a log-out error in a few minutes. I found out that 50% of the time that this happens, it is because I delete my cookies, but I still do not know the cause for the other errors.

Have a nice day.
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Atrius on 27, October, 2009, 05:29:00 PM
Um... yeah, if you deleting your cookies doesn't log you out, something is wrong.
Title: Re: So how is the NEW GSHC?
Post by: Salanewt on 27, October, 2009, 06:10:00 PM
This is true. However, I have (luckily) found an alternative to deleting my cookies, ever since the old "Cookies" folders were lost.

Anyway, has it been decided that we are moving again?

Have a nice day.

Now that we've had plenty of time to adjust to the move, and I've shown off some of the customization possibilities of the new forums with stuff like the custom & [sprite] tags, and the download system (http://forum.goldensunhacking.net/index.php?action=downloads) I'm reviving this poll.  Everyone happy with this move?
