This topic is for all of those who would love to wonder what a Golden Sun 3 would probably be like. Post all your ideas and thoughts here, including recent interviews with Camelot (even though they've been ever so quiet lately).
Okay, here goes (WISHES!!!):
-Eoleo as a playable character or a major plot character (Think Babi Major).
-A Female Venus Adept
-More info and a potential visit to Anemos
-A visit to the ruins of Vale
-Isaac non-playable
-Either a Chi-user or a lycanthrope(!) in the party
- (OKay, I'm going to get flamed for this but here goes) 5th element, Saturn, Aether
- A trip down gaia falls
- Since alchemy was probably still recently freed: Weyard growing as the game progresses
- Meeting Babi's ghost in the halted construction of Babi Lighthouse
- An explanation of how an Adept's element is determined
- the return of Alex in somekind of demon form, while still retaining his planning ability
- A silver moon (luna) to contrast the golden sun (sol), perhaps as the embodiment of the unlocked power of the lycanthropes
- A re-uniting of the continents (pangea style, more like it was on the oold map)
- maybe quite minor, but an origin story for the psynergy-bestowing items. Seriously, who made them and why?
- A conspiracy that throws all we know about why alchemy was sealed out of the window
- and, ofcourse, a decent plot xD
That's about all I think? Maybe there's more...
- Hamma Playable (kind of conflicts with Eoleo though)
- If not a playable, Eoleo very important character
...and pretty much everything you said.
New elements may be interesting, but only, and I mean ONLY if executed absolutely perfectly....
Whatever Camelot does is fine with me, as long as it works. They should keep the same graphical style, though, and definitely get some more of Sakuraba's brilliant work.
Okay, here goes (WISHES!!!):
- Party journey to The Silver Moon to find an alternate universe thats suffering deeply because of the lighting of Mars / Mercury / Jupiter and Venus, there they must set out and light the four alternate lighthouses of that world
Saturn - Fire
Neptune - Water
Pluto - Wind
Uranus - Earth
- New Psyngery is learned because of the aura these new beacons give out
- We learn of what has happen to Sheba's birthplace (Anemos) Her Twin brother joins the party
- 7 more Adepts becomes available making the squad 16
- During many points in the game The player is transported back through time and space Via the Wise one to see key major events unfold
1. To see why the Lighthouses were sealed
2. To see what has become of Saturos / Menardi / Agatio / Karst / Alex... I hope there not truly dead
3. To see Lemuria in its prime
4. To visit and learn what happened to the Venus clan that once lived near babi lighthouse
5. Learn why alchemy was sealed / the war between the 2 worlds
- With Alchemy released the Lemurian ship along with The wings of Anemos is strong enough to reach this new world i have called Okairo. they just need faith
I have others nut i have to go
Maxy... this ain't final fantasy, there are no dark crystals.
Now then, I think that this thread pretty much sums up alot of what I'd like to see: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage....&topic=48256650 (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=561356&topic=48256650)
Pretty decent discussion there. As for me...
--Female Venus Mage-type Adept would be nice
--Female Jupiter Fighter as the lead would be nice too
--Need more weapon variety
--Stats need alteration and tweaking so that psynergy doesn't suck late game.
--Each playable character should have a UNIQUE BASE CLASS. None of this Felix and Sheba crap.
--We need more status ailments. The ones we've got are too easy to get around, and there's not that many of them, either.
--The O8 should NOT be playable. They've had their run.
--The game should be set in the future, after Weyard has gotten time to recover to it's former self. This would take HUNDREDS of years, something y'all are forgetting. Alchemy won't suddenly be uber, it'd being re-introduced as Weyard recovers as a whole.

I assumed that the creation of the Golden Sun would be equal to and as instant as a nuclear bomb, globally. More a matter of days or weeks than years.
Hell, no! Nothing that drastic! The erosion and distortion of the world caused by the seal wasn't instant, so then why should the the healing process be as such? Nay, this is a gradual process. Now that Weyard is no longer bleeding out, and is now slowly healing, it will gradually recover itself to its former glory.
But to expect this to happen in a couple of weeks? That's a wee bit unrealistic, even for fantasy.
There are some pretty good ideas for a new game. I personally hope that there is more cut scenes for things more out of the way. I always liked it when the characters all cam out. i knew something intresting, entertaining, an/or usefull was about to be said. Like the one about Piers's age. lol
I personally won't mind a few FMVs, or even more of the nice art scenes like at the end of GS2. Voiceovers, though... I dunno, Region One (USA) has a really bad habit of putting in epic fail voice acting... only if they keep the Region Two voice acting would I want voice acting at all. Of course, Dual Audio would be VERY nice as well...
satoros & co playable
sol (or aether) is saturn by the way.
*facepalms*
*facepalms*
*facepalms AGAIN*
There is NO FIFTH ELEMENT. Sol is SYMBOLIC, representing alchemy itself, whereas Luna represents the seal on it. IF there is a Saturn, it refers to the non-elemental type psynergies. How many times over the last six years has this been said I wonder?
Also, how do you play as a dead person? And WHY an all-fire team? Won't that kinda screw you over in the end?
Saturn doesn't have to be non-elemental, it could be named for lycanthrophic powers...
(I think a move is in order)
So far, that's JUPITER.
You want to argue? Fine, when GSDS comes out, and I'm proven right, I get to make fun of you as much as I desire. If you're proven right, the opposite will hold true. Deal?

I never mentioned dark crystasl rather it takes place on a different world... same elements tho
It's part of my natural behavior to wish for anything Darkness-Related. From what i've seen that classifies under Venus
Well, I think there should be an antagonist who is either a Venus or a Jupiter adept.
It would also be neat to be able to explore the entire world map, instead of dividing it into more than one game (which would be okay (that way, a sequel is guaranteed).
Have a nice day.

Looks like someone failed to get the reference. Basically, it's been done, only with Crystals instead of Lighthouses.
Anywho, so far, Darkness seems to be Venus and Mercury related (Haures, Charon, Shade djinni), and Light seems to be Venus and Mars related (Sol Blade w/ Venus unleash, Shine, Iris...)
If I had my way, though, the Light/Dark themed things won't be elemental at all. They'd be non-elemental... that's how I'm approaching my GSDG... The djinni with light/dark themed names are gonna be renamed, and the summons with light/dark overtones will be 'non-elemental' summons. Now, I'm not saying that's what I want to happen in GSDS, though...
What I WOULD like to see? More Non-Elemental psynergy, non-elemental unleashes, and some non-elemental summons.
I'd also like to see more equipment balancing, more equipment TYPES (I WANT SPEARS AND SCYTHES, DANGIT!), and psynergy that DOESN'T SUCK late game.
As for the villains... I want a balanced team, in similar makeup as the team of the main heros...
Two Fighter types, Two Mage types.
An adept of each element represented.
They have their own unleashes for their weapons
They can USE DJINN AND SUMMONS AGAINST YOU...
And for kicks, one's a healer, one's an attack mage, one's a tank, and one's an physical attacker
Basically, I wanna fight a team of adepts, just like I control. Just just something I can spam mercury at, but something I've gotta use strategy to beat! THAT'D be fun!

Oh yeah, I agree with you. In my hack, I am going to try to add some of these weapons (mainly Bows and Spears). However, I am thinking of adding Scythes to this. Anyway, about that alternate elemental lighthouse idea that you had Maxi... I think that was done in Final Fantasy 4, right? You had the four crystals on land, and the same crystals with the same elements in the underworld and... It has been done, as Role put it.
I think each (or most) of the useable characters from the first two games should appear as cameos, and possibly as main NPC characters (like Alex). If not main characters, then they should at least give you items sometimes, (maybe Piers gives you his boat), as long as they do not take the spotlight from the main characters of Golden Sun DS (in my opinion, during the cutscene at the end of Golden Sun 1, Felix takes the spotlight from Isaac (before he jumps to save Sheba)).
Have a nice day.
:MercurySet:
Distant future setting. Please no direct sequel.
Building off that, a steampunk vibe. Or noir. I'd freaking love GS: Noir
Drastically altered geography so that exploration isn't just a rehash
No sealing/unsealing lighthouse beacons for the main plot; it's been done, so let's try a different type of storyline
Female Venus Adept
Heck, how 'bout a female main character?
Actual character development instead of the stock character types we had in the first two games
No new elements
'Course, some of those are controversial, but I kinda feel like it'd be nice to step away from the familiar pseudo-medieval feel that the first two games had.

Maxy... this ain't final fantasy, there are no dark crystals.
Hmm i hate the word cliche its thrown around to much, if something is deemed plausible then it shouldnt matter whats been done before because this isnt Final Fantasy. Taking ideas from other storys, adding to it and then building a beliveable situation is how imagination works
Silver Moon... cliche right? But when the game supports that it may indeed exist then to take the idea and run with it isnt a bad idea, infact its the opposite
Sheba fell from the sky:Why?
Anemos left Weyard:Why?
Sol
and Luna (in Sol Sactum):Why?
These are questions left unanswered... however that point to an opposite world
War leading to the sealing of the lighthouses: War with who?
So if the people of Anemos went to the moon that means life can survive there and even live there pointing to the possibiltiy of other kind of Adepts (same building blocks Fire, Water, Wind and Earth)
Mars, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter are the four cloest planets to earth (In real life) thus chosen (not including the moon) so maybe you could say that the other 4 planets are closet to the moon (there not really)
Ah, how does the game support that a "Silver Moon" does exist? Also, if we're taking that idea and running with it, it wouldn't be anything so spectacular, would it? To be sure, the Golden Sun is simply the golden light that appears when the Stone of Sages forms, so the Silver Moon would be the (rather unweildy) term for a flash of light that occurs when the lighthouses are all sealed and Alchemy disappears from the world.
I'm also curious as to how you get the idea of an opposite world from anything presented in canon. The bit about war leading to the sealing of the lighthouses, well, I'm actually just wondering where that's mentioned in the game script, 'cause at the moment I'm having trouble remembering if that's the canon or fanon reason for sealing Alchemy. A refresher would be much appreciated. Also, was it said that the people of Anemos went to the moon or that their city became the moon? I seem to remember it being the latter, what with there being that big ol' crater in Contigo.
Just playin' the ol' devil's advocate, to be sure.
NEED. I. REMIND. YOU. Sol seems to be thematic of Alchemy Itself - thus, being the Symbol of Alchemy. Luna, the OPPOSITE of Sol, seems to be thematic of the SEAL UPON Alchemy, thus is symbolic of the Seal/Absence of Alchemy. Switching Sol and Luna caused the power of Luna to weaken the alchemic barrier preventing you from reaching the star room. Heck, the symbolism is why the theory developed that the Anemos are the ones who sealed away alchemy in the first place!
The first GS at the very beginning if you bother to read it mentions something about man's dreams turning to war and endless riches and endless life and that sort of stuff.
And yes, the city of Anemos lifted up and BECAME the moon. This also hints that Sheba is an Anemos, and in a way that the Anemos created the werewolves.
EXACTLY! As in, there was NO MOON until the Anemos did that. But the Sun has always symbolized Alchemy... why is the moon seen as the opposite, then? If the moon only existed after the land of the anemos become Luna, then why is it that Luna is opposite Sol? This is what lead people to think that the Anemos were the ones responsible for sealing away alchemy, and that Sheba may be their way of making sure that when it's unleashed, it's not abused. Too bad she hit her head on the way down, though. XD
"There is more in this world than just Good and Evil, Light and Dark, Black and White. There are a multitude of colors that you won't see if you just look at the world in two extremes."
Thats a quote from yourself on your deviant, Role.
And about how Anemos lifted off Weyard and became the moon, it sounds a bit farfetched, look at the size of the space mission from weyard and compare it to the moon as seen in the reflection in Garoh.. it doesnt add up
No, that's a quote from the character I most play in Digimon RPs: Iwakami Shinju. But close enough. This is never truer than it is in Golden Sun - I actually don't even think that Alex is truely evil. I think he simply completed one step of his plan. Remember when he said he'd destroy Vale? Well, Vale was going to be destroyed anyways. They'd been warned and had evacuated. I think he had other motives. Not to rule the world or anything, but to set up a chain of events to prepare for the day when alchemy had to be sealed once again. And I think he was in cahoots with the Anemos in order to do that.
AFTER ALL... "There are no evil people in Golden Sun".
Except for Dodonpa.
Alex unsealed alchemy, attempted to take the Golden Sun's power all for himself, and immediately started a plan to seal it again? How does that work out?
Do you think we will see anopther Donpa/Dodonpa/Lunpa sort of character in the next game,
(Lol)unpa
This doesn't make whole lot of sense, but maybe Role is saying that Alex immediately tried to abuse alchemy so that people would seal it away again?

No, so that eventually, once they start to abuse it again, he'd have set up the stage for it to be sealed, starting the cycle over again. Basically, he's the insurance plan in case humanity screws up again.
And Dodonpa was just a rotten brat. Not truly what you'd call evil, from a traditional jRPG standpoint.
Yeah, in fact, the closest people to being evil are not really so (although I like playing a game in which there is no actual force of evil (for once)). I hope that in Golden Sun DS, Camelot avoids having a purely evil side. However, it would be nice for someone who does have bad intentions, and not for any apparent reason than to be evil (even if they are not the main antagonist).
Have a nice day.
I highly doubt alex had any good intentions behind what he did...
Either go watch the ending sequence again or just read the script here (the last entry on the quotes section): http://goldensun.wikia.com/wiki/Alex
Makes it pretty obvious all he cared about was the power. Even if he did have "good intentions," the most he could do is pull a schneizel and threaten to blow up anyone who doesn't agree with his perception of world peace. And since power corrupts...
This is true. Well, as long as he is either dead or an old man, then that will be good too (had an odd dream of something like him being old and trapped in the remains of Mt. Aleph, but then there was a cell phone...). In fact, a role reversal would be neat again (kind of like in the transition between the two games), where the protagonists are bad until a certain event. Then again, I am kind of sick of these, so...
Have a nice day.
Remember, Alex is a master manipulator. You could just be fooled by him. Or... It could be that Alex himself was being used. He may THINK that he's got all this power, but then you turn around to find that someone led him to get that power only so that they could use him to seal alchemy away again, should it be needed.
Or... even worse...
Alex, after getting absorbed into the heart of Weyard, begins to gain power of Weyard itself... To the point that Alex more or less BECOMES Weyard... Now THAT would be a scary thought.
Makes sense. But if he becomes Weyard, then hardly anything should change because he is becoming a land mass, not the land mass becoming bad like he was (even if not too evil).
Still not sure why someone would trick him into wanting the power if they would just want to seal it again. If Alex were to get Alchemy, and then have it sealed, wouldn't the seal also block his fraction of the golden power? It would almost be like he never got it at all, because all of Alchemy is resealed.
Have a nice day.
No, it's like how in FF7AC Sephiroth had entered the lifestream and began corrupting it, causing geostigma.
Also, NO. Alex took the power so that nobody else would take it. He wanted to test it to make sure it's what he'd been told, and chose the empty town of Vale. Then? He pulls a Lelouche. He demonizes himself in the eyes of others so that someone may come and strike him down.... In essence, the power of Sol has been slain, causing it to become Luna. Or something. And when alchemy needs to be sealed again due to misuse, that power of Luna is what will be used to seal it.
I like the way both of our examples came from code geass =p
The problem with your theory is that he was trying to attain not only infinite power (as in... who's gonna stop him?) but also eternal life (no one could stop him even if they rivaled him in power). If he had gained these two things, there would be no one who could take him down, and the people would know that. The only reason he was stopped by the wise one is because the wise one had already interfered with the formation of the golden sun before it actually happened. Furthermore, there has been no war
yet. He doesn't have a reason to unite people against him. Now, he might have reason to unite the people under his power... hence why I think the closest thing to "good" he could do is pull a schneizel.
QuoteRemember, Alex is a master manipulator. You could just be fooled by him.
...who would he be fooling up at the top of that mountain? The birds flying by? I'm certainly not ruling out the possibility that this was all part of a bigger scheme, but there's not much higher you can go if you're already at the top.
No, that was me fooling around, saying that you, the player, may have just been fooled by him. It was as serious as my next one, where I said basically: "Oh NOES! But now Alex and Weyard have fused, and you have to kill the planet!"
Eternal Life isn't necessarily immortal. I prefer the "Ageless" theory - where because of the sheer amount of alchemic power within him, the process of natural decay no longer affects him, so he no longer ages. He's got a LOT more durability and what not, so he could simply seem immortal, but in the end he'd not be immortal in the truest sense of the word. But it'd still take a Suikoden-like force to take the dood out, thus he pulls a Lelouche to get the entire world to unite against him. With enough effort, and with enough 'staged power' on his part, he'd be able to get them to kill him.
I wouldn't go so far as to call him Good, though. The way to hell was paved with the best of intentions, after all. What's more, this may have been his original intent, but you said it best - power corrupts. The Wise One saw this, and knew Alex wouldn't be able to handle it. So he pulled a Xanatos Gambit of his own to ensure that there would be someone capable of taking the dood out when re-emerges. This is especially true now - since Alex has been submerged inside of Weyard so long, who knows how much sanity the dood has left. So it's up the Heir of Sol to take the dood out... stereotypical RPG plot, perfect fit for a GS game.
Fair enough.
Also...

Do not mix well.
It wasn't sarcasm so much as me being silly, though.
I really don't want Golden Sun DS to be in 3-D.
They should've kept the graphics the same as the previous two games, the graphics that I've gotten so used to.
It should also have the same basic gamepla- in fact, just keep it the exact same as the others, just with a different story, party, characters, Djinn, summons and Psynergy.
Just keep that infamous gameplay in the new Golden Sun, and I'm happy.
I've got a feeling I'll be seeing Donpappa in GSDS.
The shopping better be just as fun in this one aswell.
Okay, I'm going to say this once, and ONLY once - Don't dock the graphics until the game ACTUALLY COMES OUT. These are most likely beta pics we've got to work with... you know, kinda like what we had to work with when it came to the original games themselves before they came out. Saturos and Menardi got a makeover, Mia and Jenna switched roles, Psynergy got non-sucky animations, etc...
Expect something similar. Don't dock it until it actually comes out and you've played it.
Them graphics/Beta graphics were better than i expected.. I dont want my fav series to get craped on with a total onslaught of crappy 3D graphics but the demo screening makes me confident that the final product is running the correct course
Quotecrappy 3D graphics
You do realize that that alone invalidated your post, right? Let me remind you:
THIS IS A HANDHELD SYSTEM.
Don't go expecting freaking PS3 quality stuffs. What you saw in the BS demo was actually REALLY GOOD for the DS, thus showing that GS is leading the way in graphics again.
Also... remember that it was a BS DEMO. Meaning the Demo played itself. Don't think that counts as a playable demo, boya. Get back to me when E3 rolls around and we have an actual playable one, since we should by then.
Those graphics aren't crappy, at all. Heck, you only get to see like 40 seconds of it, right? That means they are/were at nearly the beginning of the work. And like Role said, it's a handheld system. I guess you can expect something like FFIV DS graphics but better.
Well, I know that we do not have a date yet, but I noticed that Nintendo moved Golden Sun DS up to the top of its game list.
Have a nice day.
Wait... Never mind, it seems that Nintendo moved it closer to the bottom of the list again.
Have a nice day.

I hope the graphics are as good as in the trailer. Damn were they hawt!
Well, I'd like to see a Proxian party member, pretty much. That's about it. everything else? Not important.
And I'd like to see it live up to the past two games.. I mean, it's been quite a few years. I hope they haven't lost their GS touch.
*rereads Alex discussion*
Hmm... I still stand by my initial view that Alex wasn't truly evil, just trying to act the part of the villain. HOWEVER...
What is the one thing we know for certain about power? That's right - POWER CORRUPTS! All that power within him is bound to cause him to lose touch with his sanity sooner or later - and being trapped within Weyard's core sure as hell ain't going to help matters. Perhaps he once had more noble, self-sacrificing intentions, but unfortunately for him there were some really NASTY side effects he hadn't counted on.
This could devolve Alex into becoming TRULY evil. He'll still be a master manipulator, however, his intentions will no longer be setting up the insurance policy for Weyard - it'd be getting rid of anyone who could oppose his power. Hmm... this gives me a lot of ideas for my DG, should the game not actually include Alex in it...
You would argue that alex didn't simply want this power for himself? Don't tell me we're gonna need to get a game script in here to argue this... I thought there was excruciatingly little to suggest this was for noble means, keeping in mind you can't take anything where he was talking to someone at face value.
Initially, he had slightly noble intentions (that still required him to be the villain - this goes off of the whole "there are no evil people in GS"). However, the power of the golden sun within him easily shot that to hell - power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Now, he was still evil. Don't get me wrong. The ends do NOT justify the means, after all. He was just evil in a different manner.
