Question:
What's your favorite endgame weapon?
Option 1: Atropos' Rod
Option 2: Darksword
Option 3: Excalibur
Option 4: Tisiphone Edge
Option 5: Lachesis' Rule
Option 6: Atropos' Rod
Option 7: Masamune
I just want to know, what's your favorite weapon.
For me, I choose Sol Blade. When combined with Valkrie Mail, Hyper Boots, Mythril Helm, and Riot Gloves, it's almost do 3x damage all the time.
Sol Blade all the way. I also like Gaia Blade, but that was pretty much useless in TLA since by the time you get it you have access to far better weapons. I was actually really disappointed there wasn't an Aqua Blade in Mercury Lighthouse, to 'complete the set'.
Atropos' Rod. Because it looks cool and has a cool-looking unleash.
In Dark Dawn, my favourite weapons are the Verdant Sword, Sol Blade, and Herculean Axe. Emerald Blitz, Centurion, and Olympus Rage are freaking badace. Barrage is also one of my favourite unleashes in Dark Dawn.
Agreed with Jamie on that Verdant Sword. I like it over the Tisiphone Edge in DD.
I personally prefer the Phaeton's Blade over the Verdant Sword. The unleashes are overall better, and there're only 3 of them, so the chance of gettin' Centurion is higher.
For TLA, I don't have a big favorite, but if I have to pick one it'll be the Masamune (animation-wise) and the Obvious Blade (power-wise).

Huh? Obvious Blade? I never know about it. Sorry

It's the Sol Blade, the most obvious weapon choice.
Ah, Misery, I had such a nice answer for that. Now you've ruined it. XD
But yeah, it is indeed the Sol Blade.

If Misery didn't answer me, what would you say?

After looking this up, I had a total O.O moment.
Centurian is a 2.4x multiplier and has a chance to ignore 50% of the target's defense... and is Jupiter element, the most common weakness. Meaning, in the end, it's
more powerful than freaking megiddo (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BeyondTheImpossible). Sol Blade, Phaeton's Blade, and Levatine all have these, and as such, are considered the big three of DD.
Gale Force is surprisingly powerful at endgame, as well, considering how wimpy it is when you get the Magic Rod or whateveritscalled.
Huh, actually Centurian falls within the realm of <2.55x multiplier, which is considered the upper limit we'll allow to some of us... it's the combo of the element and effect that really break it... We're definitely gonna have to look at these closely and be careful with our approach... Maybe effects should hold weight to them? Different effects would be a different weight, and weight is subtracted from the multiplier value?
Dunno, really... either way, we're gonna have to be really careful with our abilities to make sure we don't overpower them.
It's not as broken on most weapons in DD as it would be in GS2, seeing as DD gives each weapon with Centurion at least 3 unleashes. And with Light Surge and Combat Dance still being as wimpy as always, and Radiant Fire and Purgatory also being of mediocre attack power, it's not as nasty as you'd think. Though Radiant Fire IS multi-target, and the Sol Blade also has the overpowered Megiddo, and Centurion is the first Unleash the Sol Blade gets...
That also means you can lock the Sol Blade into using Centurion. All you have to do is unlock it, then just use a lesser weapon until it comes time for boss fight, then switch to Sol Blade. With a perfect unleash setup, you'll always use Centurion.
I picked Darkblade because I like its animation and how it slightly lags the gba and also it has the high base attack.
combined with my Isaac set, bonuses, and high attack based armor, and always having one character with booster spells.
I can pull off some awesome attacks
Base Attack is good for LLGs and Call Dullahan, but that's about it.
Of course... It'd be cool to have Isaac with a "solar set" and Felix with a "lunar set". Thematics for the win!
I should totally do that... Make some thematic sets for everyone and play around with it...
:Isaac: :Garet: :Ivan: :Mia: TEAM sol
:Felix: :Jenna: :Sheba: :Piers: TEAM luna
hmm could work.
btw Isaac has the highest base attack right? or was it Garet?
Felix has best attack over Isaac by 2 points, IIRC.
Garet has best defense, probably HP as well.
Ivan best speed, and I think best PP too.
o yeah that's right.
I gave all the boost items from both gs1 & 2 to Isaac.
That explains why Isaac's attack and luck was so high... lol
Yeah... don't do that.
Luck should go to whoever has the lowest for your class setup. This is usually your Ninja or Chaos Lord.
Agility should go to whoever needs it. This is usually either Base Class Garet or whoever has the lowest speed final class.
Attack should go to Garet, Jenna, or Piers. Garet and Jenna because they could use a bit of a boost, Piers because he actually needs it. NOT Isaac or Felix - they max out on their own!
Defense goes to Ivan and Sheba.
HP and PP go to whoever has the biggest deficit.
Well my reasoning at the time was since I had played up to half way through the Colosseum thing with Isaac and my file got deleted. back then I sucked so bad I couldn't beat the final boss of GS1 until I leveled up to 65. so you can see my problem with me fighting with only one character...
now i beat the Colosso at level 14 and the final boss at 18-19. I feel I've improved my ... tactics ... O yeah that was a run with no deaths by any of the characters.
Eh... on a normal playthrough, you're not going to see anyone max atk. Grinding to lv99 is not a fun thing to do. I think for a lv40 game isaac had around 430 atk or something? After a double impact, that still only goes up to 645. If you've got a megiddo setup for a non-lv99 game, you're probably best off giving those atk boosters to whoever your megiddo user will be, be it isaac or felix, since they're the ones that can make the most of that boosted atk.
Agil boosters can also be good to manipulate your party order, so you may not always want to give them to the slowest char.
Otherwise, yeah. Spread the wealth. Bulk up the chars with poorer defenses a little to help them survive out there.

Just quoting myself 'cause I may have said something I don't know it's true, as I haven't checked DD mechanics in... quite a while. So, if someone knows this, please correct me.
I don't really know how unleashes mechanics work in this case. I mean, it would be logical to think that getting one given unleash out of 3 would be more likely than one out of 4. But maybe the unleashes are stored in slots that have a specific rate, like rare drops are handled in some other other games. I don't know.

I guess this would be possible, but you'd still be risked at unlocking a new unleash while in battle. Again, don't know the mechanics for sure, but I thought it was based on damage done by that weapon (or relative damage, maybe). Of course, you would still have access to Centurion, so it isn't that bad.
It's based on the number of regular attack hits dealt with the weapon, from what I've read.
If what you say is true, then I can see that strategy working better than I thought it would. It's weird though, I kinda remember those who dealt more damage unlocking unleashes and mastering weapons faster than the others. But since you've actually read that, I'll take it as correct, since I haven't and honestly I'm not feeling like doing it anytime soon. So, thanks for the info Jamie! ^_^
Keep in mind: Chaos Chimera is vulnerable to Wind. Combine that with Sveta's Beastform EPAs, both at full power... you're gonna clean house in no time.
Most of Beastform Sveta's EPAs are Venus elemental, so the only thing she'll be cleaning house with is Speed Punch.
I was gonna say to do the 1.6x multiplier. It'd likely outdamage speed punch, especially since she'll hit the attack limit.
I usually give Sol Blade to Isaac (Ninja-class series), Darksword to Garet (Samurai-class series, sometimes Quick strike is useful) and Masamune to Ivan (Tomegathericon, call Dullahan). Isaac has the greatest attack, augmented many times in both games.
Technically, Felix has better attack growths than Isaac, though.
As for me:
Isaac gets Sol Blade
Garet gets Excalibur
Ivan gets Tisiphone Edge
Mia gets Lachesis Rule
Felix gets Tisiphone Edge
Jenna gets Tisiphone Edge
Sheba gets Atropos Rod
Piers gets either Excalibur (normal classes) or Darksword (for Call Dullahan spam)
QuoteGaret gets Excalibur
I almost always give Garet the cursed ring and all the cursed gear, he ends up being on par with Isaac and Felix by the final boss. and then he also gets the darksword if I can get that in a reasonable amount of time.
sheba and ivan... they tend to get the lesser weapons and armor as they tend to die a lot. And most of the time I even have their djinn set for boss battles.
Mia and Piers get hand me downs as well, but I've never really had problems with Piers before so he gets one of the best swords like... the one with the unleash "rising dragon" or something like it.
Isaac and Felix end up the same every time, Felix Sol blade, Isaac Giga blade or excalibur.
I don't know what it is, but I tend to have half my party super strong, and the other half really weak. I mean I'm sure I could get close to beating the doom dragon with just Isaac and Felix.
