Title: Neverwinter Nights 2
Post by: Rolina on 16, August, 2009, 03:28:00 PM
Okay, here's the copy-pasta from gamefaqs:

QuoteNeverwinter Nights 2 is the sequel to BioWare Corp.'s best-selling and genre-defining role-playing game set in the popular Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms universe created by Wizards of the Coast. Neverwinter Nights 2 will be developed by Obsidian Entertainment, founded by Feargus Urquhart who, as the President of Black Isle Studios, was responsible for the publishing of the Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series and the development of the Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment franchises, both powered by BioWare Engine Technology, as well as overseeing the creation and development of the Fallout series. BioWare will provide tools, technology, and game assets from the original Neverwinter Nights as well as lend creative input and oversight to the development process.

Basically... it's a DnD based compy game.  WOOO!  This is the game I've spent $200+ on upgrading my compy for!  SO worth it...  After all, DnD is the base of pretty much EVERY RPG out there, beit Eastern or Western, it probably owes its existence to DnD.  And this game utilizes a version of the DnD 3.5 rules adapted to work in a Computer Game type environment (some feats work differently than their original counterpart, for example).

You've got your basic classes, such as Barbarian, Wizard, Cleric, Paladin, Bard, etc...
Then you've got Prestige Classes, such as Duelist, Divine Champion, Eldritch Knight, etc...
And even some original classes, such as Warlock and Weapon Master (I could be wrong, though, there's TONS of DnD books, they may be in one I don't have...)

So far there are three official campains - The Original Campaign, Mask of the Betrayer, and Storm of the Zehir.  There's also a Mysteries of Westgate "officially sanctioned mod" available.  There's also a wide variety of OTHER mods, too, such as a REALLY nifty Class Pack with is practically an expansion pack in and of itself... and it's FREE, too!

The official site can be found here:

Anywho, I've have quite a bit of fun with it, or did, that is, until I found a certain site... thus making me realize that all that hard work leveling was done HORRIBLY wrong.  That site?  It's really not that much, but it's REALLY useful... it helps you plan ahead!

http://nwn2db.com/ (http://nwn2db.com/)

It basically is a character builder.  You select the version of the game (Do you have the original, or do you have some of the expansion packs?  Do you have that drool-worthy class pack too?), and then setup your character so as to basically, well, plan ahead.  Of course, there's also the whole trying to built a better character thing, but nothing is as frustrating as to find out you leveled in the WRONG CLASS or got the WRONG FEAT...

Which of course... I did... So I've pretty much gotta start them all over.  But you know what?  It's SO worth it.

Here's my builds, if you're interested.  I'm still somewhat of a newbie as far as builds go, but I kind of like them.

In this thread, you can discuss the game, things you like and disliked, ask about if for those whom haven't played it yet...  To which the only response to why you haven't played it would be

 - Why?

Heck, if y'all want, you could make builds of your own and post links to them here, as well as rate the builds of other people, even making suggestions on how to improve them.
