Who is your favourite?

Despite picking Jenna, I seem to find a fault with all four that make me not like them.

Felix - Takes a whole bunch of crap and doesn't respond back.
Jenna - Extremely volatile and dishonest to a fault.
Sheba - Self-centered and almost completely unsympathetic.
Piers - Aloof and disillusioned, as well as having no discernible personality.

I admit that these are just limitations by the game and the plot.  I don't care.

Jenna, hands down.  She happens to be the most broken character in the game.  Best overall stat growths, has FIGHTER class with MAGE PP growths...  You'd be nuts not to use her over Garet.

Piers, on the other hand, suffers because of the same thing that makes Jenna great... He gets MAGE classes with FIGHTER PP growths... this hurts the hell out of him, and makes him almost as useless as Garet.

Jenna has the most personality, and is overpowered. Piers can get fighter classes with just the right Djinn combinations, or you can just give him Tamer or Perriot classes. However, he has almost no personality to speak of.

Garet is pretty useless. Maybe it's that his base class has the worst overall stat growths, specifically Agility, in the game? And that his Attack isn't even high to make up for the lost Agility? And that he doesn't even learn Liquifier in the first game? At least Piers learns Diamond Berg.

Jenna for above reasons and she's more "realistic" then the other characters up there

That makes about three of us who agree that Jenna is a bit more developed than the others (Felix and Sheba were better in the previous game, but then they lost some of their personalities).

Ivan! Ivan is the best. Would be better if he had more electrical Psys, and Sheba had wind-based Psys. That way they would have separate classes.

I agree with that. It would also be nice if there was a gender balance (you know, four males and four females (excluding Kraden)).

Sorry, but Felix/Garet had to ruin that. On the other hand, I suppose if Garet weren't there, than Sheba couldn't have a crush on him. Felix could've been female, he never does anything anyway, and then Jenna would have a sister not a brother, but WHO CARES??? Felix doesn't even have any personality in the second one. On the other hand, he's oddly bad-@#$ in the first one.

Maybe it's because of his mask in the beginning..........

I voted sheba, simply because she's the only one to ever make another character blush :)

Mia and Piers are quite alike in my opinion. Neither of them has any personality. XD

Mia at least has more than Piers, though, even if it's the "generic healer personality".

Piers just has the personality with the thousand mile (year?) stare. Near-immortality will do that to a man.

Very true... However, even Conservato and King Hydros have more personality than Piers... And you only see them for a few minutes when playing (unless you give Piers the Lash Pebble, then you never see them).

Anyway, the character with the most personality, in my opinion... Tutorial Venus Djinni for the win (hehe)!

Anyway... My storyline theory is that Isaac stole Felix' personality and voice before makign them his own.

In my opinion, Sheba is the only one of those four with more personality, but I am confused as to why she and Mia both become female dogs in the pre (or post?) credits cutscene, when they return to Vale and start calling Garet a big baby when he thinks that he lost his family. I didn't think that Mia had THAT type of personality (although that is easily something that Sheba might say).

ehh....not really. seeing how there's 72 djinni, you would have generic personality or even djinni with maybe 1-3 emotions

Yeah. In fact, it would have been neat for Camelot to make a spin off of Golden Sun... But with only Djinn. Then again, it might be a bit odd, but at least it would be easy to make each character have enough of a personality.

Golden Sun has over 72 named characters and they don't get old.

For some reason I always prefered Felix...He gets my vote.
Oh, and a Djinn spin-off game? I like the idea...Nice one Salanewt.

Thanks. Perhaps, since I doubt that Camelot will do this, then maybe we can do something like this, but add djinni (I am sure that there will be more for Golden Sun DS). This means that we can name each one after a member of this website.

I am not really sure. I suppose it could be the quest to find the magical door to the land of the Golden Sun Hacking Community, or something bizarre like that.

Well, have you ever seen the Mask movie (first one). When he wears the mask, he is a completely different person... ... ...

Also, I hardly consider Alex a main character, unlike the other three usable people (and one usable robot).

Yeah, Piers is okay, but they could have programmed him more. At least I am not calling Felix a cat (lol, because of what his name is).

To be honest, I used to let one of my friends type some of my responses when I first joined, but that was mostly when I could not think of anything to say (and that pretty much went on for a few months, probably ending just before Christmas). Yes, I would approve them first, but I did not always see the edits before being posted. I stand by the Piers = robot thing, but I do not believe that Garet is a female. Garet > Piers, to be sure. As for the others making fun of him, that is only because of his programmed personality. Not sure why they found it funny though.

Reason why everyone hates Garet: His base class. Need I remind you that it SUCKS? Lemme just check here:

HP: +10%
PP: -20%
Atk: +0%
Def: +10%
Agil: -30%
Luck: +0%

Yeah, that's right, his base class's stat modifiers total at -30%. This is when the average for base classes is somewhere around +10% to +20%. If you give him +10% to HP, +10% to Attack, and +20% to Defence, it looks somewhat better:

HP: +20%
PP: -20%
Atk: +10%
Def: +30%
Agil: -30%
Luck: +0%

He's still slower than molasses in January, but at least then he can take a hit.

@Sala: Calling Garet a girl would be an insult to most girls.

He is still my favorite character though.
And I'm not joking he did have higher Atk than Isaac (don't know how and i don't have the save anymore else i would have showed you lol)

But yah his agility sucks.

I played TLA first and well Piers was my fave character, but when i played GS1, Felix having been m,y 2nd fav got promoted as i learned he was a badass

And then he did what? Jumped off a Lighthouse. He didn't even get slowmo like Sheba did when she fell off. He didn't NEED slowmo, because he's Felix.

My question is why they didn't make the mace Felix's signature weapon. Felix looks badass with a mace.

It was similar with me when I was first given the second game, but playing the first promoted almost every other character and demoted Piers.

Mace Felix is cool, but I like it when he wields a sword too.

^ Probably because you suddenly noticed that Piers doesn't seem to have a personality. Maybe it's just because he joins the party after most of the conversation in the game takes place. He does get a funny scene and one or two other witty lines, however.

Basically, although I became an Ivan fan for a short period of time (2 or 3 years, still not as much of an Ivan fan as I have been Yoshi). Playing the first Golden Sun promoted Jenna to be above Ivan though.

I love me Ivan, but whoever that guy in the middle silhouette on the website's probably gonna be my main man when GS:DD comes out.

Out of the TLA characters though, I still prefer Felix. Dunno why, I just like how he feels sorta anti-heroish. Sorta.

Maybe it has something to do with the badass lines in the first GS, and the cool sideways cape?

On the subject of GS:DD, I suspect the werewolf girl's gonna be my main, though we'll see. It's really a big debate of whether Tyrel's cool axe-wielding battle stance and Fire psynergy is more awesome than the werewolf girl ripping things to shreds with her bare hands. Yeah, I suspect that last guy is our Mercury Spellsword, which we're now going to get. (After all, it seems Crown/Rief is a Pure Mage. I saw him wielding a mace in one of the trailers, and we already know he wields staves.)

Felix is cool, though i kinda like Isaac more for some reason. A i dislike ivan and sheba ... not a fan of wind element.

Tyrell will be my favorite character in GS:DD for sure since i like all the fire psynergies ^_^

Felix does some pretty badass stuff in the first game.

And then there's Sheba, who also does and says some pretty funny stuff.

But my favourite is still Jenna. She's awesome in combat, and she's just as funny as Sheba is.

That's all as opposed to Kraden, who is my most hated character. Yes, that's right, even more than Piers. Piers does have some moments of personality, it's just that he's not there for long enough for it to develop. He essentially suffers the same problem as Mia.

Kraden, he's just... wow. I mean, he talks too much, states the obvious, and is just annoying in general. I mean, I know he's an old man, and I know it'd be rude, but... a lot of the time, I just wanna slap him! Or slice his head off with Life Shear! Or impale him on the the end of Catastrophe's sword!

I mean, aside from Felix, he appears most often in cutscenes. Perhaps more than Jenna, Sheba, and Piers put together! I just hate the guy!

In my opinion, Jenna can do almost anything with her base class. Healing, Attacking with psynergy, attacking with weapon [she can equip tisiphone edge], and lowering enemy's stats. Well, the only she can't do are reviving and supporting. But she can revives and supports by using a djinn.
Beside of that, she has a good stat if compared with the others.
