Title: Charon's Gallery
Post by: Charon on 16, March, 2009, 05:15:00 PM
Well, I only have one picture for you today:
Basically, Ivan's mind read has an alternative effect - it allows him to send messages to others with only his mind.

So, Ivan uses Reveal to see the cards and sends those messages to the man next to him, Steven, so that he can win more money. Ivan has the powers, Steven knows the rules.

Ivan looks extremely cool, in a 1920s-ish mobster sort of way. Love the hat, though I think it'd be even better if it was tilted down a little more. Very nicely done.

W00t, apparently I like this "Ivan Mafia" thing (someone has me inspires XD)

Sorry if the revolver sucks - I can't draw guns for crap.

the gun looks decent. i think it might have been a better idea to go with a pistol but i don't think they are "Mafia" guns. I will say i don't like Ivan's hair. it looks like the sane do in GS but there is just something about it that i find off and dislike and i Don't Know What!!!!!! It bugs me.

Overall it is a good pic and i like it.

For the gun, I'm going to assume you're going for a revolver (at the moment, it looks like a pistol/revolver hybrid). If that's so, you'll want a smaller trigger and shield (round thing in front of the trigger). Also, the trigger's backward; the curve should be toward the finger. The hammer (curved thing on the top towards the back) could be a bit more curved if you want, though that's optional (the length, however, is perfect). The barrel looks a bit thick for a revolver, so you can probably narrow it a bit. The grip looks fine, so don't change it. My dad's a gun fanatic, so I've seen and fired a few, though not for a while.

I'm a bit confused about the background. Are those square buildings with mountains behind them, or do the right two buildings have pointed roofs? I'd guess the former, but it's hard to tell.

jdmj mentioned something about the hair; I'm not sure, but it feels like it's favoring the left (Ivan's right). His head is tilted, though, so I guess that would make sense. I'm not sure; personally I don't see anything wrong with it.

The picture as a whole looks great. As I've said before, I love the idea of Ivan as a mobster-type, and he looks all the more devious at night. In fact, I think the night could be a little bit more pronounced; the street in the background looks pretty bright in the areas the lamps aren't shining. The hat is really good; I like the effect it has on Ivan, making him even more sinister-looking. His suit is very well done, and the watch is a nice touch. Keep it up.

We do not speak of guns, mister, as I absolutely cannot draw them for crap XD

I noticed the trigger's incorrect facing a little after I scanned it >_<

With the buildings, it's the former. I'm adding contrast to that area to make it more pronounced.

I honestly don't know what jdmj90 is talking about with the hair - Ivan has those two large pieces of hair on both sides, and at the point of view of the pic it would be a little more at an angle.

I'm actually still adding details to this. I think that this critism will help me finish the picture well.

I knew something was wrong... I'll post it again when I'm done.

My God, I do graphics as well?

People say they don't like my graphics, but those who do say they don't like them because my style is far from the norm. What do you think?

NOTE: Someone requested me this on GSR. Actually, it was more like begging, but you still get the point.

Well then! *claps once, then tips fedora*

I'll be doing requests then! I've been pretty bored lately, too. Besides, people have been saying I've been making a ton of progress on my graphics, so I wouldn't mind practicing here.

I wish I had a Fedora (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fedora). I guess I'll have to be satisfied with Fedora (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fedora_%28operating_system%29). Heh.

Clever wordplay aside, I wouldn't mind having one, though I'd have to think about details first.

I like them all.

1. Don't know how I feel about the bluish-white space on the left. On one hand, white space always makes me feel awkward. On the other hand, it's not completely empty, it doesn't feel out of place, and the name's on that side.

2. They should make these IRL. Buizels, that is. Love the banner.

3. Like it. Cool background, and the pattern on the right spices things up a bit.

4. Love it. I don't mind dark, as long as it's cool dark and not wussy dark.

5. Stephen: when you want your carefully raised Gengar to go down in one hit from that stupid Metagross, there's no one better to turn to.

I'll post some more later. I'm currently finding the waterwheel facinating.

More stuff (mainly just Copy Pasted from GSR but I DUN'T CARE LUL.
New stuff!

WANDERING RAINBOWS :3 Actually, the character is Hotupa, and he's a wanderer, so that's actually where that came from =P

Looks like Luc also likes red.
New drawing stuffies:
Ivan found a birdy, and it seems to be flattering him! He would only know with Mind Read, of course ^^
(http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x33/heimdallinc/hotupa-1.jpg)
Hotupa, the guy in the "Wandering Rainbow" signature. I'm sure I missed some details - I was working on memory here, peeps! (Daigonite is my Deviantart. I'm not particually active, but I posted this there... so meh.)

Begging may be for dogs, but I like puppies. (Drake requested another signature banner, so I made him one. Every time I do so, I make a begging dog reference, lul)

Max height is usually around the 300 pixel range for most forums I know about.

Unless you mean little clicky buttons... those are ways smaller...

Pokecommunity has over 100,000 members, and their limit is 500x300. I think the 500's a tad small, but the 300's really nice for those "poppy" signature images.

BTW the avatar size here is 150x150 lol. Sig's really can be any size, unless they're like 1000x1000 or something outrageous like that.

((Bah, I'll get something up soon >_>))

Title: Charon's Gallery
Post by: Charon on 07, May, 2009, 04:25:00 PM
Lololol, but you see, I've been pretty infrequent with my drawings lately. But we'll see. And I dun't like the hero that much, he sounds like he's always high on meth or something. ((I highly prefer Jale, and Chrodechild too, lul. Can't convince myself to draw either of them though))

And it's nice to see I'm also not the only Tierkreis player.

THE BUTTERFLIES ATTACK. =O

((Actually, it would be really cool if they implement the Infinity into the full mainstream Suikoden games; it might mean some comebacks of beloved characters, but I dunno))
Title: Charon's Gallery
Post by: Rolina on 09, May, 2009, 08:26:00 PM
The only issue I had is the lack of Cudgel type weapons.  I mean... The hero has to use a weapon kinda like that!  What, with the main characters of Suikoden I, II, and V using that kind of blunt martial arts-y weapon!

...So I gave him a spear which at least uses the same attack pattern...  But enough of my ranting.  The sound issue isn't an issue with the main character you have, it's an issue with fail voice acting.  Hey, it could be worse.  It could have been Epic Fail Voice Acting, which is what we got in Rockman ZX Advent here... GAWD, Ashe's voice grates on the nerves... The Hero?  He just talks way too fast is all... If they'd slow him the hell down so he talked at a normal speed, he'd actually be pretty decent.

I DO like how the voice actors actually show emotion, though.  I've actually cried a few times so far while playing it.

If not that, though, then make a drawing of Lilly forcing Hugo and Sgt. Joe to carry all her stuff while she carries nothing and is barking orders.

The OTHER GS, jd.  Genso Suikoden.  Specifically this time:  Teirkreis for the DS and GSIII for the PS2.

Cecile and Lilly were my favorite characters. ^-^

Post by: Rolina on 13, May, 2009, 01:53:00 AM
One of the best games of all time, as far as I'm concerned.  Can't find the original ones anymore unless you're willing to fork over $100+ for a USED copy of II, and probably 200+ for a USED copy of I.  For new, safe to say that you'll need to multiply that price tenfold.  And this is IF you can find any of them.  They'll be PS1 games.

As such, as unethical as it may be, your best bet is actually emulation.

Suikoden III, IV, Rhapsodia (Tactics in US), and V are somewhat easier to find for the PS2.  Tierkreis is a new DS game, so it's REALLY easy to find, and worth the investment.
Title: Charon's Gallery
Post by: Charon on 16, May, 2009, 04:23:00 PM
Since I and II are on PS, they're smaller, and may be easier to *bleep*

*whacks self* WAREZ ARE BAD!!

SIII is hard to find, dunno about IV, V we got when it came out, but I've seen it in stores. I had to go about 15 miles to get my copy of SIII.

Anyhow, I did a comic with the whole Lilly thing. Basically, I've got Lilly yelling at Joe and Hugo to push a cart or something, and Luc looks over them from a corner. He exclaims, "If only I had that kind of morale!", then goes and imatates Lilly, with Albert and Yuber serving as Joe and Hugo, pushing a random cart.

Now, to get the printer to work! *spark plasma*

Yush yush. It took me a while to get used to the aged graphic style and occasional slowdown (especially that one scene in Hugo's storyline, Chapter 2 when they're in the tunnel and Sarah and friends teleport). I'll be honest; I may be one late to pick up on the series, but the games are one of the best things to come up with comics for since Golden Sun.

BAH I NEED TO POST SOME ARTWORK. I'll get something up tomorrow, I promise! XD

Heh, as for me, my last roommate was one of the least likable people on the face of the planet, but they had EXCELLENT taste in games.  I picked up Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, Genso Suikoden, as well as a variety of other games from them.  Been two years, and I've had GSIII for about half a year now...

Got GSIV once, but... well, it was a bad disc so I had to return it.  It may have been the worst of the series, but it's still part of it.

Anywho, I look forward to your art. ^-^

Something that's not a bird and actually has a story to it:

Guy finds a soviet missile. So, instead of reporting it, he takes it home with him, removes dangerous components like the Plutonium and the explosive catalysts and attaches it to his fridge. He empties out the bottom shelves, and lets the door out as a fin, and attaches additional fins with duct tape and cardboard. Finally, he straps everything else together with a bunch of belts. He's even as adventurous to bring his dog along ^_^

I KNOW IT'S FANTASY BUT I DON'T CARE AHAHAAHAHAAHAHAAA *chokes*

*the reason the black is untidy is because I quite literally exhausted my hand trying to darken the section to pitch black. If I cared, I would have used a digital medium to darken it up BUT I DON'T ARARARARARARARA *chokes again*

Actually, while searching for pictures for my corvid project, I was annoyed by how many pictures of the Crow popped up, mainly because they all look the same - dark, drab and standing. Suddenly I realized that my art often featured the same characteristics, so I decided to embrace colour and I fell in love ~

On another note, the bloodthirsty feel of the art is caused a little by some emotional stress I've been dealing with over the last week (mainly IRL), so it's a lot more violent than usual (I started to cool off a bit with the Wind Waker pic, although the chaotic motion still shows the lingering anger and sadness I was feeling)

This comic is a reference to news (not really "new" - it was released about 6 months ago) on an interview with Steve Norrington on how he would try to get the "green light" on a new Crow movie. Considering the franchise's and the director's track record, I (and a particual undead actor) am not amused. Also lulzy reference is lulzy. (James is the first name of the guy who wrote the original comic lol)

Jeez, there was so much text on this baby I had to make it larger than most of my comics lol. But basically, my opinion of Glenn Beck in a nutshell.

Well, it's been a little while, and I haven't drawn much art (except for Blight – currently on page 141) but here are two pieces that I made recently.

I hate this picture, and I'll tell you why – I just kinda... zoned out after about the 6th or 7th hour of working on it. I think it's pretty obvious that I worked from the bottom up with the toning (lolyeah) and the arms... we do not speak of the atrocity that is the arms. Ah well. It has a lolface to redeem itself. The boots are nice as well.

booooooooots

In actually good art news I managed to give away a picture of an American Goldfinch to a local bird store who says they'll call me up... if someone wants it. Which means... maybe... MONEY HOLY ### IT MAY PAY OFF OH MY GOD TEN BUCKS ### YEAH

Also, I have a few comics I posted here on GSR (http://boards.goldensunrealm.com/index.php?topic=17997.165), but I'm warning you - some are PG-13/R rated, so watch out. (I'm not posting them here simply because we don't have a spoiler tag).

Heh, reminds me of the time I won an award for something I once made.  It was a sculpture of a soldiers head glued to a brick, and people were all like "Oh, I see, the brick symbolizes something hard as in difficult, the hardship faced by this soldier, and blah, blah, stuck between a rock and a hard place, blah, blah, blah..."  In reality though, one day I had a sculpture I made of a soldiers face, a brick, super glue, and a really bad case of boredom.

I should come up with more puns... ever since I came across it, I've pretty much become a complete crowtard, despite me not really being goth lol. I should probably post some of those comics that I draw all the time o.o

In other news I'm redrawing the comic Blight again, but not because I was unsatisfied with where it was going, but actually because I wasn't able to get the paper I was using before (the stuff I had to use was crap, but now I'm using Bristol which allows me to use Acrylic over the inking). These are the first 5 pages, raw scans:

(this is a two page image - the bristol is actually cut in half when I do a page so I just left the page uncut while working on the image, and trimmed it when I was finished)

Woo, been a while.

Being in AP Art means I have to chug out a ton of more pieces. Oddly enough, I need to make 7 pieces by next Friday, while for the remainder of the year I need to make 2 pieces for every two weeks. To make matters worse, most of the classtime is used doing a bunch of assorted "fun" projects, but not anything particularly "Portfolio-worthy". My solution? Do a ton of crap on computer. Here's what I've got thus far, and one I'm working on (I'm actually working on two but I'm nowhere near finished on that one)

Downy Woodpecker
(http://i54.tinypic.com/25f54li.jpg)
Daw... isn't it just the most adorable thing ever? I remember when I first saw one of these little guys - they were so cute, I wanted to pet it! Of course, it flew away though :3

A Memoir of a Night-Heron
(http://i52.tinypic.com/13yp2mo.jpg)
Nobody really makes artwork of Night-Herons. I love 'em! They're sweet slick little herons that hang out in groups by day, but by night they are ferocious hunters with an extremely varied diet. Like regular herons they impale their prey with a fast jab of their bill.
The Archer
The theme for most of my art is going to be "Flight"; this is kind of a stretch, but the idea is that the archer is running so fast it seems like he's flying. Also - Flee/Flight meh. I'm drawing him in a very simplistic manner, but don't worry, this one will have colour. Also the midground is completely empty ATM but there will be stuff in there too. He's not really supposed to be anyone in particular (except gordin, but I've had a facination with archers lately, and I think they're an interesting theme. Also, I'm using something called "Liquid Inks", they have some really cool spreading effects. Here's my plan if anyone wants to see:
(as you can see, the plan shows that there's going to be a lot more movement than in what I currently have)

It seems that I missed your last post Charon (and a few of them too), sorry about that. Anyway, I like your pictures. From your last batch, I favour the Downy Woodpecker. Quick question, but do you have a different host that you can use to upload it? The .jpg format does not do it any justice.

The Night-Herons look nice as well, and I like how you incorporated the rainbow in that piece. Can we expect any more pictures soon?

Have a nice day.

Post by: Charon on 02, November, 2010, 04:21:14 PM
Of course! I just didn't post much because I didn't want a long line of just my posts...

So this is a little postcard my friend Josh and I made for a family friend that lives out of the country (actually its for her grandchildren but we didn't label it yet). The idea was just to make something so ridiculously awesome that the kids would just marvel in its ridiculous awesomeness. You get the jiz.
This is the front. I think it's pretty obvious who did what on this one (our styles are so different XD) The text says "Detroit sees an amazing battle between a giant robot and a dinosaur!" (I'm not sure of the level of English the kids recieving it is so I kept it simple) THE ISLAND MUST BE BELLE ISLE IT MUST BE
(http://i51.tinypic.com/33dv7k4.jpg)
This is the back. Obviously it had both of our emails on it but I'm obviously not going to give out my friend's email without permission (yeah it says Happy Holidays because they're literally going to recieve this in December. no kidding. I'll probably write a few other things, namely "To [...] from [..]").

I'm making another one, but this time for the grandmother herself. She's not like a super old grandma (actually she looks surprisingly young for her age). I think I'll send her one of my bird pictures. She seems to like nature lots so I think she'll like it. I'll post before I send. kinda slightly pays off her sending us presents every year you know lol i mean my mom sent her grandkids presents but still XD

This the picture that I made for Yoshie, who essentially fills the role of "replacement grandmother", 'cause my mom's mom is a psychotic sexist ###.
And here's the back:
Yeah I don't mind you guys reading the letter. Trying to keep it simple but she speaks English relatively well. Also the "present" I'm sending to her grandkids is the dinosaur/robot picture that I posted earlier this month.

I have no idea what compelled me to make this, actually. I thought it'd be pretty funny I guess... It's not even intended to be political satire, like a lot of "Obama-Change" lookalikes. The original subtitle was going to be "A HUR DERP" but I decided that it would upset pansies and it really kinda put Obama in a bad light, who I actually kinda like now, so it'd actually be against my political opinions.
OH LOOK WHO ITS NOT lolololol. However, this is a much better representation of her personality - although the other sketch also captured this, the crop featured in my avatar trimmed off what she was doing (sewing) and made her look... devious (which is particularly unlike her... from what I know D: )

So, here's a pretty weird comic. It's an 8 page comic, but what's unusual about it is that the conselors at school thought it was a "cry for help". They ended up calling my mum because of this. I swear, if a single social worker is called on this... >_>

Anyways it's not actually fully done, I'm doing some stuff with acryllic :D
001.  (http://i54.tinypic.com/oic4g4.jpg) Probably my biggest mistake was to mention an actual place. Oops. Oddly enough though they didn't make a note of that at all o.o ... or the fact that most of the time nobody is wearing any clothes
002. (http://i51.tinypic.com/dvkknk.jpg) And somehow they don't get me on the guy throwing a knife at someone either...
003. (http://i54.tinypic.com/zqy2v.jpg) Again, nobody notices the obvious lack of clothing
004. (http://i51.tinypic.com/245hdap.jpg) More lack of clothes. Although notice that the apparition doesn't have any genetalia. I thought that was the only way I could portray someone nude without making it in any way sexual
005. (http://i56.tinypic.com/11bkq4l.jpg) So this was the last page they got to see, and get this. What made them think that I was going over the edge was the quote "I have no identity, no friends, no life. I am in complete and utter despair. And you, only you, are the reason to why I'm like this." So did they forget that he was DEAD or something? How the heck is a dead guy talking about how miserable he is being dead supposed to advocate suicide? I don't get it.
006.  (http://i54.tinypic.com/29kowes.jpg)I hate having my copics being practically dry.
007.  (http://i54.tinypic.com/29e5agy.jpg)Okay, I'm definately glad I didn't show this page to those dimwits. Seriously, if they saw this they'd have a total meltdown CAUSE THEY DON'T ### GET IT.
008.  (http://i51.tinypic.com/6sq53q.jpg)Quite possibly the best ending I've ever given to a story ever. haha

Looking great Charon! I especially like the birds at the end, but it all looks good.

That is nice of you and your friend, making gifts for friends and family.

Sorry to hear about your own grandmother, but at least you have someone else to replace them.

Hehe, it might just be the wording that they think relates to suicide, but if they forgot that he was already dead... not to mention that they ignored the nudity, then it seems a bit odd for them to only notice that. I guess it is almost like making a very broad or generalized reference to a bomb when you are at an airport. "Look mommy, Mario is pushing that bob-omb around on the-" *sirens*

Have a nice day.
Well, I tried to make it as clear as possible without blatantly saying it, but let's just say the apparition at the end isn't the same as the one in the beginning. As in he's Gordon, after he commited suicide.
Basically with the school, what happened is that I gave the comic to my art teacher for her to critique, and she said that she should show the consolours because it was kind of dark. I'm taken down to the consouling office where I have to explain for 45 minutes that this work is in no way suicidal and that its dark side is simply the way of making the story have an interesting tone. I was really worried that I'd be in trouble, but my mom didn't give a damn. Actually, she wondered why they were wasting my time with this crap. XD

I'm pretty sure they'll like it, but I have no idea if they even read English XD

So, on GSR, we're doing a Rief-drawing contest, and a guy suggests to me out of the blue this idea... and it becomes this:

That's right, Rief goes crazy and takes onto Luca Blight. THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR MAKING FUN OF HIM!!

Whoa whoa, hold on, hold on.  Rief is a magical unit, not a physical unit.  Clearly he'd not be Luca, but rather Luc.

I like the bowman. A lot.

Rief looks downright creepy.

That's the joke, obv obv. If I was serious about it I'd probably do Rief-Luc... It's the contrast between his body and his head that makes it funny. You didn't think I was serious business about this... did you?

You know... that's got me thinking... hee hee...

Aye I know.  I was just countering with a joke of my own.

That it, now just for kicks, you have to draw Garet-Luc.  Or at least Garet TRYING to be like Luc.  He'd be failing hard, obviously.

I'm thinking about doing Garetluc (Grunt + Whiny Mage) and Ivaber (Quiet Sentimental One + Psycho). Heehee, but I'm working on redrawing page 001 of Simurgh and it's taking a lot of time, so it might not be digital, like Riefa. lol

You've already done the Ivan x Yuber combo though, haven't you?
Title: Re: Charon's Gallery
Post by: Charon on 27, January, 2011, 08:00:32 AM
Believe it or not, no! I looked through my stuff and this is really the first time I started doing Suikoden/Golden Sun combos. Most of the time I draw a character in the way presented... I'm boring and don't usually do this funny stuff. lol

Anyway, this is just a scribble of an idea, mainly because it's not a contest submission like Rieffa, and because I've been working really hard on page 001. (it's taking a long time...)

I didn't draw Miasarah because I hate Sarah and will only draw anything resembling her if it's totally necessary, and I'm not too fond of drawing Albert (although I don't hate him) so Isaabert will wait.

I was thinking about making Felithomas and Jenncecile lol :D I also want to do something with Viktor/Flik but I'm not sure what yet...

Fireworks is an abomination that we're forced to use in school. I either use Gimp, Painter, or if at school I'll use Photoshop preferably.

You should have pics of each of the true rune holders (even the fallen ones, like Ted), with their true rune displayed behind them.  Those who share runes, such as Tir and Ted, would pose together.

All should be ready for battle, of course. ^-^
Title: Re: Charon's Gallery
Post by: Charon on 17, February, 2011, 09:58:30 AM
That would be interesting, yeah, but I'm doing these on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper so I don't think I'd be able to complete it. D: Unless, of course, I drew every part independently, and that'd be what... 18*2=36 different sheets. And then some True runes don't even have confirmed designs, like Eightfold, or confirmed designs of characters, like Hikusaak (Circle).

I think I screwed up True Wind beyond all recognition ;-;

Meanwhile, Charon is working on another design, this time for a t-shirt, involving Geddoe and his troop. Because they are awesome in every way.

Experimentation, yeah. Boredom too. Blah. It's definitely the eyes (they're always a problem when I do non-line based styles), I'll fix it once I get home. I need to practice different styles to really get any better though, so that's why I try to mix things up like this.
I work on this at school, so that's why this hasn't been getting many updates.
The reason for all this Suikoden themed artwork is because SuikodenFC on Deviantart has really inspired me for some reason...

Really? I mean, I'm not offended, but I seriously think its the eyes... I'll look into it later... >_o If I really hate it I might just crop to the bird, but I should be able to fix it enough.
Title: Re: Charon's Gallery
Post by: Rolina on 24, February, 2011, 03:36:33 PM
The head is too big
Even for the head size, the nose is HUGE and really doesn't look proportioned properly - looks like it's jutting to the left, and not out like it's supposed to.
The eyes in my opinion are the least of the problems with the head.  It's honestly mostly proportions and positioning...

o.o

I'll keep that in mind then. I'm experimenting with blending and it might be caused partially with that. I haven't done a style even remotely similar to this style since July so thanks for pointing that out. I wish people would do that on my art thread on other forums...

You need someone who's blunt and doesn't care if your feelings get hurt.  That's how you improve, not by "Oh... it's a good job, I like it, +Fav" x40 like you'd get from Deviant Art or the like.  Basically, ask people who aren't afraid to not be nice.

I have the same problem with Firefox, so it is likely the browser. I ask to open it, and then it plays for the full duration of 0 seconds. However, I shall try downloading it later, and then I will try Internet Explorer on my mother's computer.

Is there something that you can type to describe the animation, or is it more of a random animation?

Title: Re: Charon's Gallery
Post by: Salanewt on 13, April, 2011, 05:09:21 PM
It might help, actually. I am certain that it is not Adobe that has the problem, as it tries to open it in Winamp when I download it. This might actually be why I can not watch it, but a different browser is still more likely to help.

So yeah, would you please put it up on Deviantart for us?
