Title: How to load a ".sav" file in golden sun 2 editor (the lost age)
Post by: SonicMaster on 13, August, 2016, 02:26:39 PM
Hello,

Now that I have a proper phone I've been playing golden sun 2 on MyBoy emulator, to remember old times  and I just found that you guys have developed such an amazing editor to get all kind of weapons and powers in the game. However, I have downloaded "Golden Sun The Last Age Editor" and I don't magane to load the ".sav" file I have on my phone. It just allows you to load a ".gba" file and, when I do so, I select characters and it just gives me the initial powers they have, the equipement and stuff but they don't appear with their current state (objects, level, djins, etc.) on my save file.

I wonder how could I load the sav file to edit what I already have, rather than starting a new game from the beggining. Or if there is another way to do so, I would appreciate If you could explain. If I'm not explaining myself please tell me.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Atrius's Editor (and mine), only are for editing the game (.gba) itself, with the purpose of making a hack... (And yes, that includes initial stats, but not current stats, since that's player data.)
.sav files, which aren't supported by our Editors, are player data, which is used to store information of a person's progress in the game.

There are, however, other people who have made .sav editors, though. I know of at least two.

P.S. = And it's not The Last Age. (Or well, maybe it is in a way, but not the title.) You can basically ignore this... minor nitpicking. :P

Thanks a loooot!  :MercuryDjinni:

I downloaded the first Save Game Editor you linked and it worked just fine. It's exactly what I needed. I'm thinking that actually I could use a combination of both editors (yours and this other one) to make the game more interesting

And sorry for the mistake in the title XD

You are welcome.

Sounds good to hear. However, Atrius and me are two different people... so whatever is meant by "mine" as far as any useful editing could go is a little confusing, considering I've only ever given minimum features like the text editing... which I say is better than Atrius's version since you can search for text much faster, and the text is compressed with char tables rewritten to be properly compressed. (Compressng without doing so, could mean loss of compression... And by "char tables rewritten"... has nothing to do with changing/correcting format issues, but compression the way it is supposed to be compressed.. (as it is and was done. Except I had to code the rewriting of the char tables myself.))  (Referring to my C# editor.)

That's okay. I just found it somewhat (humorous-ish?)

OK not your editor then, but the one in which you contributed ;)

Thanks again!
