Okay, I based the "Medical" Healing psynergies based on the Mars and new Jupiter ones. Also, to add to the Watermelon (which I suppose we can alter if we want (at first it is a Key item, but then you can buy them is what I am planning for my hack, but I like the idea of it being a key item)), I have the Fire and Ice watermelons from Yoshi's Island and a Wind Watermelon to add the last watermelon to the elemental ones (sort of, I suppose the normal one could go to Earth).
I also have Red and Green grapes, and a Banana.

Right click and save...
Then edit your images and save...
Then move to Paint.NET, use the magic wand, select the background, press delete/backspace, save, and presto! You have a .png with a transparent background.
Also: Remember that the first color in the palette is "transparent".
I think I will remember, thank you. I normally use Photo Psuite, but I have no idea why I used Paint this time. I only like it when collecting a massive file of sprites, but I doubt that I will be doing that this time. Anyway, I will try Photo Psuite first.

Hello there. I have just extended my icon list a bit. I will include all of the icons that I had in my last image as well.
The Apple (red), Douse series and Plasma Series are original icons from the game. The water psynergy icon beside the douse series is an extended psynergy icon that was cut off before (modified version of the one with the red "gem" beside it). I also have some Plasma icons combined with some Douse icons.
I now have the Master Sword, Yoshi Mask (yay!), Red Potion, Green Potion, Blue Potion (these three potions and sword are from Zelda), and a Love potion. I have also continued with the food section. There is mostly fruit, but there is now a Drumstick!

That's a really blue blade, though it could just be this forum's background messing with my eyes. Good job on it, though, you nailed the hilt.

Thanks. For the cherries, I shrunk the Bramble Seeds. It is probably not your eyes, that sword is blue, but I am sort of basing it on the glow from Twilight Princess, and sort of the fact that they make the hilt look more navy than blue. The Master Sword is based on the same blade from each game though. Anyway, thanks for the compliments. I think I spent the most time on the sword actually.

Okay, I think it is time for me to update again. I only have one more Zelda item to include this time. I also have one or two Mario related items, as well as "The Hidden Stars" to go with the normal ones, and a few more psynergy icons.

As you can probably see, I have some space in the image between these words and the actual icons. Also, that is a third version of the Dragon shield underneath the Candle. There are three more books this time. One is supposdly "Fire" based, the other "Water" based. However, the third one is the Book of Mudora from Link to the Past!
Actually, I only have four psynergy icons this time. I have a a bluish "Aura Revive", which might be interesting. I also have one that goes to the Master Sword, I have one that summons a golden Bird to attack (more like an actual summon, but uses psynergy). Last but not least of the psynergy icons, I have a cure for Curses! This psynergy should be capable of removing cursed items for you.

What are your thunder and water psynergy icons? Are they any different?
The first three Plasma and the first two Douse psynergy icons are already in the game. I put them there so they can be compared to the upgraded/combines versions. I did this with the Apple and the elemental Stars too.

Hmm... I need some ideas. I spent all day yesterday blowing this off and playing Disgaea 3 instead, so... the question is what to make now. Unfortunately, I'm drawing a blank.
Well, you can try googling just anythng and filter it down so it searches only icons and customizing those.
Edit: Should you also filter it down to clipart may be your choice.
But here are some general ideas, but you probably won't like them:
-household items
-gardening equipment
-school supplies
-clothing (wigs, shirts, etc.)
-drinks/food (like that chicken leg Salanewt made for example)
-etc.
Well, I will not be making any more icons until tomorrow. However, this will give me enough time to think of what else to make.

I took the Venin Lance from Fire Emblem and recolored it. I tried to rotate it, but the blade and head no longer matched up and it looked wrong, so I left it as is.
Looks good. However, I would add a few lighter pixels near the left side of the sprite, and fewer darker ones on the handle.

I can't seriously recommend using sprites from other games. Rather than using an FE sprite as the base, it's probably safer to use a GS sprite. Also, remember the 16 color limit and palette restriction.

Mind you, this is the very first sprite I've EVER made.
Wow... that's really... basic. Like, 8-bit basic. Try using the Necronomicon's sprite as a basis to edit next time. It's much easier to take a pre-existing sprite and change it into something else than it is to just poof one out of thin air, so I suggest starting with sprite EDITING, rather than sprite CREATING. I have instructions in the first post, as well as a link to the sprites you'll need for editing. Also, don't forget to render the background transparent. I suggest using Paint.net for that.

I'd guess it's probably Venus or Mars elemental, due to the darkness theme.
Shine, Flash, and Iris, all of which were mars elemental, seem to have light themes to them. Jupiter seems to share it, when you look at some of the unleashes. Venus and Mercury have the darkness themes, when you look at the djinn, summons, and some of the psys. However, I tend to opt to change them to non-elemental, since I don't think that light and dark themes should go with the elemental themes at all...
Then again, the Sol Blade has a Venus unleash...

I know, right? It's very similar to the Meteor summon. Personally, the SOL BLADE should have a non-elemental unleash, reflecting the thematics of Sol and light, but oh well...
Yeah. Unfortunately, I have noticed that most psynergies and non basic equipment (like the ones with unleashes) are never non-elemental. I don't know why Camelot did this, but most of the time, it does not make any sense (also, Flora looks more like it should be 2 Venus and 1 Jupiter, not the other way around). Oh well, I will make more icons soon.

And I always thought that the Aura spell made more sense as a Jupiter psynergy. AND I KNOW THESE ARE THE BEAM ICONS!!!
Oh cool, those are nice recolours to them. It always made sense to me that Aura would be like Light, which is often affiliated with Fire. However, the Aura series, in my opinion, should either be renamed to something like the "Heat" series, or should be made non-elemental.

There's just one problem - are you following the pallete restrictions? The only colors we're allowed to use were provided by Atrius on the first page, and I don't think you've been using them... so while it looks cool, it also looks like you're gonna have to redo it like I had to redo the Galvorn Alloy...

What you could do is keep the originals, and make recoloured duplicates if you like the originals? Your choice. Do you want some tips for getting other colours, or will you be fine (well, not actually getting other colours, but tricking the eyes)?

Those look great Role. I would try to do something with Flame Edge though, since it lacks some of the detail that Pheonix Rush has (at least a tiny bit more detail, like a thicker outline near one end or something).
Just a question... You used the Black Crystal for the Lunar Rock, right? I like it, but it looks somewhat similar to the Cloak Orb as well. Of course, the fact that it doesn't look exactly the same is nice.

Actually, looks like it was the Cloak Ball. Forgot the Black Crystal had a stand - other than that, the Black Crystal and Cloak Ball sprites are almost identical.
As for Flame Edge → Phoenix Rush... same can be said for pretty much any of the EPA → Improved EPA in the original games, y'know?

Okay, so I've been working on making a set of DD-style icons, right? I'm doing it for the templeverse at the moment, so instead of costs it displays the element of the psynergy. I'm starting off by converting all the current spells, but then I came across Reveal.
Reveal has no DD sprite. That horrible knockoff in Search took its place... so I've gotta wing this. I'm gonna put up what I made - if you have suggestions, let me know. I'm putting this up both here and in the Temple, so whatever ideas you have, let me know so I can get this canon spell looking like it's Reveal.

Edit: After talks over skype with the ToK (mainly Leaf, though), I finally got it to where I like it. Reveal option number 13 it is! Say hello, reveal!

For all you spriters out there, I've also managed to nab the psynergy from DD. Interstingly, there was a alt colored plasma in the code (if my source is to be believed). I've arranged them, as well as added a few helpful spriting tools (background, scroll icons - did the mercury one myself.)

Mercury DOES get Cloak after all, and that's a really ninja-y spell.
And I know this ain't the place, but I found, if I remembered right, by messing with AR codes, that the Umbra Gear has a shop price. Forgot how much each piece was, and I lost my AR, but it's there. In my copy at least, don't know about yours.

True, but the way that you worded it made it sound a bit different than what you explained... At least, I had to read it a few times to make sure that I understood that last sentence.

You know, looking at this, it's kind of jarring how few spells mercury has... Let's have a goal to get roughly even spellcounts per element in our hacks, guys!
Hey, guys, I'm thinking of redoing a lot of the existing/canon sprites, such as the healing ones, to try and imitate their DD counterparts, or at least differentiate some of them, such as the healing ones. What are your thoughts on the idea?
Sounds like a nice idea, how about you do one of the icons and post the old and new icons for us to see? that should help you decide whether its actually worth it or not.
Aye, that's the idea. If some others like the idea, I'll give it a shot. The only real problem is, well, hard to make 16x16 14x14 really show up...
I think you're probably going to do this either way, but... well, at least you have my support, even if I don't have any real plans for hacks right now.
But, of course, it would be nice to see those.

I got them from the internet. I cleaned them up and tried to organize them somewhat decently. And then posted them. But the basis? Five seconds and google, I'm not kidding.

Fun note - DD icons seem to exist within a 24x24 grid - or at least, the art part of them do. In all likelyhood, they're actually 32x32 and layered on top of that background, but for the sake of saving space, my DD icons will be 24x24, adhering to the art limit rather than the likely sprite size. This will change if we ever get DD editing (ha, fat chance). Alternatively, if requested, I could provide the full size sprites with background if y'all would prefer that.
