Title: What are some of your favourite games that you own?
Post by: Salanewt on 21, October, 2009, 07:13:00 AM
Hello everyone! I would ask how many video games you own (and to list them), but I have kind of forgotten how many in total...

I know that I have:

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (GBA, not the SNES version)
Yoshi's Island (DS)
Yoshi's Story
Yoshi Topsy Turvy
Super Mario 64
Super Mario World
Mario Golf
Super Mario Sunshine
Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga (kind of hard for me to forget this one)
Super Mario 64 DS
Yoshi Youch and Go
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Mario Kart Wii
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros. Brawl

And I am not sure if I am forgetting any.

Have a nice day.

Oh yeah, sorry there. I did not see this category.

And also, I am good most of the time for posting in the correct forum, so I do not need to "learn" anything.

Have a nice day.

I don't own ANY Zelda game but ironically I've played almost all of them (thanks to a friend of mine who is a crazy Zelda fan).

Mine is a short list...

Golden Sun
Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Pokemon Diamond
Pokemon Silver (IT STILL WORKS!!!)
Tales of the Abyss
Tales of Symphonia...

And before I had to sell it...
Suikoden III

I'm probably missing some titles because I end up selling games often... :p I'm also not including my older games because I'm mainly happy that they still work, but I've grown past them.

Oh cool. I pretty much own every Zelda game except for Link's Awakening.

I also own a few Final Fantasy games. I forget which ones, but one of them is Tactics Advance.

Hm... I have Game and Watch Gallery 4. And... I will really have to open my game bag to see my games.

Have a nice day.

Yeah, lol. However, his name on a Mario game title is kind of new, but I think I can now list three or more games in which he is usable.

Super Mario RPG,
Paper Mario Wii,
Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story,

Yoshi's Island DS (you can have Baby Bowser on Yoshi's back, I suppose this counts),

Hm...

I am very sure that there are more, but I just can not think of what they are right now.

Have a nice day.

Also, I have two of these, hopefully to increase to three in a month (which is when I have my birthday (oh great, another year older... Boo!)).

I think it's nice that bowser gets to be the protagonist or at least get it's name on the game title. In my opinion Bowser is one of my favourite villans and he does deserve a game of its own.
Ah, and in case you didn't notice we are totally off-topic. :p

My favorites:

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
Final Fantasy 7-10
Super Smash Brothers (All, especially Brawl)
Mario Kart Wii
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword (#7 in Jap and #1 in America)
Pokemon Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Colosseum, Fire Red, Leaf Green, and Emerald (I have Sapphire, but I like Emerald way more)
Crash Bash
Crash Bandicoot 2, 3, and the first one for PS2
Crash CTR

Dead or Alive (ALL)
Mass Effect
Jet Force Gemini
Pokemon Stadium 2 (didn't own, rented for 7 days)
Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga
Super Mario 64 (Favorite Mario Game)
Golden Sun TLA

I have alot of games (over 100) and I liked alot of them, but I simply can't remember all of them (and I don't feel like counting them all o.o). If I remember some favorites, then I will edit this list

Cool... I actually hardly know of some of those games.

Out of those, I think I have...

One of the Crash Bandicoots, one of the Kingdom of Hearts, a few of the Final Fantasies (all for Nintendo systems), both Gamecube games related to Shadow Pokemon, almost all of the GBA Pokemon games (mostly before I knew a lot of Action Replay, which is why I bought them), Diamond and Platinum (Pokemon)...

The last two games on your list. I also have Pokemon Snap, Gauntlet (N64), and... Several more games.

Cool. This is funny, but I have not played by Nintendo DS for over a month or so... Here is the funny thing. This is the first time that I have lost my recharging cable... I want to find it before my Birthday though, just in case I get Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (why Bowser and not Yoshi?).

Have a nice day.

Nice. I'm a little regretfull for not havinga DS...I'll wait for my friend to decide if he's getting Golden Sun DS if not I'll maybe just buy one cheap along with GSDS. Also, Bowser finally gets he's name on a Mario game? Didn't see that one coming.

Hm... Cool games, all of you. Anyway, this is making me think about listing all of my games. However, this will probably take me over 2 hours (I have many games).

Have a nice day.

Oh yeah, most of the games with Yoshi, Link, and Weyard (Yoshi, Zelda, Golden Sun) are my favourites. As for Zelda, I like almost all of the ones before the Gamecube. The ones up to Nintendo Wii are fine, but I do not care for the ones on the GBA and on the DS very much (I am still not looking forward to Indiana Link, but I will probably get it because it is a Zelda game).

Have a nice day.

Wow... I think I almost have that many games... I have to count (I don't even know the total of my games).

Of the ones that you mentioned, I have (including alternate versions):

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Golden Sun - The Broken Seal (I didn't actually know the full name, lol)
Golden Sun - The Lost Age
Pokemon Fire Red Version
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Blue Rescue Team
Pokemon Sapphire Version (plus Ruby and Emerald, but I misplaced Sapphire and Ruby)

Final Fantasy III DS
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Time
Pokemon Diamond Version
Pokemon Platinum Expansion Pack

Hm... It seems that for some of these Pokemon games, I have the opposite versions. Yeah, Platinum, Emerald, Crystal, etc. are basically expanded versions of their games (don't have any GBC games except for Oracle of Ages and Seasons).

I kind of want Final Fantasy Tactics A2, is it a great game (or sub-par, etc.)? If not, then I will not think about it again.

Have a nice day.

It's a LOT better than FFTA.  The laws aren't anywhere NEAR as annoying, it's a lot more balanced (no uber classes), but there's still certain "dream combos" that you can set up just right so that they plow through all your opponents (Paravir/Paladin (or hunter) +Geomancy, Oracle/Illusionist +Dual Wield and leveled as fighter, among others).  The story isn't quite as epic as the original FFT (duh), but in terms of gameplay mechanics, this is one of the best SRPG's I've seen.  Hands down.
Title: Re: What are some of your favourite games that you own?
Post by: Salanewt on 30, October, 2009, 03:56:00 PM
Sweet, thanks for telling me. Yeah, I remember in FFTA, I had Marche as a Ninja for Double Wield, and then I raised him as a Fighter. I also remember having a class that could use abilities from two classes + items. I forget which one that was, but I think it was Alchemist.

I wonder if I could make FFTA a better game once I start trying to hack it?

Now I actually have something to add to my Christmas list... That thing is almost always empty each year, so I tend to get other minor gifts and money (which I do really like, alot).

Have a nice day.

Whoa, do you really have all those games Kain?
If you do, than you need an entire room just to fit in all the game boxes...
Title: Re: What are some of your favourite games that you own?

I don't keep games I don't like. ^^;  So, yeah.  I like these games for one reason or another, either for its playability, storyline, fan of the franchise or online play.

Total Annihilation is an old computer game, good luck finding it.  It's an war strategy game, but your whole army is a bunch of robots and you get a wide variety of units at your disposal from land, to air to sea.

Yes, I do own all these games.  Yes, they require a lot of room.  I've filled up four huge plastic cabinet things to the brim with games and systems and cords and I've still got a bunch of stuff that is lying around on my tv stand.

If you think my video game collection is huge, you won't want to see my music and movie stands.  >.>;
Title: Re: What are some of your favourite games that you own?
Post by: Sajin on 31, October, 2009, 01:32:00 PM
So you DO actually own all those games... That's quite a fortune you got there!
I own like...Well, about 15 for GB/GBC, more 15 for the GBA, around 7 for my dreamcast, more 10 for my sega saturn, around 15 for PS2 and PS3 and a uncertain number of games for NES...That's like less than 25% of your total games. Oh well... By the way, how much does a PS3 game costs in the US?
Title: Re: What are some of your favourite games that you own?
Post by: Kain on 31, October, 2009, 01:39:00 PM
That all depends.  If it's new and in the same year it was released, it stays around sixty bucks.  If I wait a year or people decided to knock the price down, anywhere from thirty to fifty bucks.  If I wait awhile, it'll be on the twenty dollar bin soon, but most of my games were new releases and I had a job then, so yeah, I could easily get them.

When I was working, I got new games every two weeks.  I'll be working again soon after this semester is over.  I'm so sick of college.
Title: Re: What are some of your favourite games that you own?

Hmm... It's pretty much the same has here (Europe) then...I'm divided between buying Valkyria Chronicles or Disgaea 3 for the ps3 and the games are still high priced (around 65€) so I don't wanna cry over my money after I buy one and think the other one was better.
Tsk, school ranting... I'm tired of university as well....    :irate:  :slow:
Title: Re: What are some of your favourite games that you own?
Post by: Kain on 31, October, 2009, 05:01:00 PM
Well that all depends.  I own D3 and I've played the demo to VC.  Both are incredibly great games with the same format, strategy.  However, the play is different.

Disgaea has the panels, move 1 unit, turn based gameplay while Valkyria has more like a token system.  You can have just 1 unit go through the entire level by themself so long as they don't run out of ammo or get shot up too badly by selecting them over and over until your tokens run out and it's the enemies turn.

I would personally say get D3 since I own the game, but you can get a demo of VC on the PSN.

That's an awesome game, i found it for $5 at a second hand shop.
Never played the original Disgaea.. although i've won the ds version and it was really fun. Prinny dood!

I forgot to mention that I also like Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time (both Zelda, really good games)...

Have a nice day.

My library would rival that had it not been thrown away two years ago by that ***** of a mother of mine...

My collection, save three games (TLA, FFTA, and RZ3) are all gotten within two years.  This means that my NES, SNES, GBC, and GBA library are either totally gone now, or just VERY small compared to what they used to be.

Off the top of my head, my five favorite games are (respectively) Golden Sun +sequel, Ocarina of Time, Left 4 Dead, Final Fantasy VII, and SMB3. There are others that might be up there, but I have trouble memorizing what my favorites are half of the time. Some of them are only up there due to nostalgia value, anyway; FF7 is actually pretty mediocre, and SMB3 has been surpassed by so many better platformers in recent years.

Hm...

I might as well add, to my list of favourites...

Shadow Run (SNES).

This is a nice game, kind of like a live action RPG, two types of fighting games mixed.

Have a nice day.

LEFT 4 DEAD 2 IS AWESOME.

Also I've been messing around with scribblenaughts. It's a fun game but I don't know how long i'll be able to go without getting bored of it.

I can add to that list.  I kid you not.

But about Scribblenauts, I'm reminded of a comic from Penny Arcade.

Guy 1:  You gotta try this Scribblenauts.  See, the whole point is to get Starites.  This Starite is stuck up in a tree.  I can write "beaver" which creates a beaver.  Their hunger for wood is well known.

Guy 2:  So I can write anything?

Guy 1:  Anything you can IMAGINE.

"Starite"  poof!  It appears.

Guy 2:  Are all the levels this easy?

Guy 1:  I can't look at you right now.

Back onto the game topic.  Left 4 Dead 2 has lived up to my expectations and has proven itself to be a great game.  However....the whole L4D2 and L4D sharing servers thing is causing massive freaking lag whenever you play L4D2 online and thus, kills the fun, especially when you run into a room and all of a sudden you're warped back outside running into a wall ten feet away from the door and then you're attacked by all the specials and your team kicks you because they think you're a damn noob.

New Super Mario Bros Wii has been interesting.  It's more or less, Super Mario Bros 3 meets Super Mario World.  Classic mushrooms and fire flower, but now they have new items in it.  Ice Flower, which lets you throw a ball of ice.  Unlike the fireball which kills with one hit and makes a coin, the ice block freezes any enemy and then you can hip smash them and kill them, even spiked enemies.  However, the ice ball only bounces once and has a short range unlike the fireball which bounces 2-3 times and jumps out farther.

Next is the parashroom.  You get a helmet with a rotor and a jumpsuit.  Shaking the wii mote lets you spin and with this suit, you obviously fly upwards.  If you do a hip smash, you'll do a spinning one instead as you float down.

Next is the Mini Shroom.  Regardless of what power you have or what form you are in, this thing shrinks you so much that your regular little form could be considered the mushroom form.  You can run on water and you can jump a bit farther however...you're small.  One touch of anything will kill you, however there are certain pipes that the small form can only grant you access to.

Finally, the Penguin Suit.  It let's you slide on ice, you shoot an ice ball like the ice flower form.  I have yet to even get this suit, but that's what I read it does.

Finally we're getting to everyone's favorite dinosaur, Yoshi.  He pops up in some levels via his egg and you can ride him.  Each player gets a different colored Yoshi but sadly the colors don't do anything special.  Yoshi can eat just about anyone but for some reason he can't swallow Hammer Bros.  He can grab their hammers and spit them back, but that's about it, other than holding jump makes him kick his legs to go higher in the air.  Oh, I almost forgot, you lose him after the level.  Yup.  Once you hit the flag at the end, you hop off and he waves farewell.

I also got Dragon Age Origins, but I promise Role I wouldn't spoil it for her so I won't talk about it.  But know this, it is well worth the investment.

Well, I have to say that I LOVE Bowser's Inside Story right now, probably one of my top 10. I already beat it a few days ago, but it is still a very good game. I still wish that Yoshi was in the game, but he is not seen or heard of at all.

Have a nice day.

Whoa, Majora's Mask? Finally someone that actually likes this game! I tought I was the only one...
By the way, did you play Ocarina of time?

I got Majora's Mask on the Wii shopping channel.  I'm just really messing around on it more than I am playing it.  >.>;  I have the Giants wallet, the bigger bomg bag and now I'm forced to go deal with the first dungeon so I can get the bow.  -sigh-  Thankfully I've done a few side quests and gotten filthy stinkin' rich and more hearts.

I'm still a bit put off with the whole Anju being a pedophile thing and the hand that pops out of the toilet.

Anywho...I recently added to my list Legend of Zelda Link to the Past.  (Before you ask, my SNES cord is on the fritz.)

Yoshi Stories, Starfox 64 (Do a barrel roll!), Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 and Megaman one, two and three.

I also added Fate/Unlimited Codes for my PSP.

Almost forgot, I got Ultimate Alliance 2 for the ps3.  Unopened and unplayed.  I've been without the PS3 for some time so I've been playing Left 4 Dead online alot.

I've recently replayed an olderish DS game of mine called Rocket Slime. It's a quirky little game with good gameplay. The tank battles are by far the best part. It's technically a Dragon Quest game, but it's castly different aside from the characters (monsters).

I don't think I actually own any of the games I generally consider my favorites (A Link to the Past, Final Fantasy VI, and Golden Sun: The Lost Age). I think my favorite game out of what I own would have to be Zelda: The Wind Waker. Pokémon Emerald is probably up there as well, simply for the Blaziken factor.

Yes i played Ocarine of Time and its an excellent game however i was more drawn in by Majoras Mask due to the strangeness of the gameplpay, however lets get one thing straight as much as i like MM over Oot i would play Oot over MM any day of the week as MM has less replay value and takes morepaitence to restart with no masks
Title: Re: What are some of your favourite games that you own?
Post by: Sajin on 31, December, 2009, 12:08:39 PM
Exactly the same thing that happened to me, MP. MM was actually a very interesting game to play, more interesting than Ocarina of Time but Oot seems to be less "boring" to replay it again.
Although both of the N64 Zelda games are no near has good as Link to the Past...

Nope. And as far as I know, there are a LOT of Zelda fans that think that Link to the Past in one of the best or even the best Zelda game... Personally, I think LttP is a almost perfect game and that OoT is very overrated (like FF7)...

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I consider it to be one of the best games ever...

One game i missed in that post was Super Metroid. That game rocks too.

I'm the same way!  To this day, LtP is tops!

Yup, I too consider LttP one of the best games ever.
Argh, I never liked Super Metroid neither did I finished it... Although Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime (the only other Metroid games I played) are one hell of a fun.
