Title: Whizkid's Creative Works Gallery
Post by: Hoopa on 17, February, 2010, 08:23:40 PM
Well, I don't think I'm very good, but here's some of my art.
[spoiler]

My very first attempt ever at drawing a manga type character and coloring it.

A geometric design I drew. Personally, I think it's cool.

Another drawing. I only drew the person. I take no credit for the background.

Here's some more drawings that I colored with colored pencils.

Not bad at all.  I spent five years in an arts school, and I can see that you have potential.  I would suggest searching for tutorials to get a better grasp of some of the trickier fundamentals, and with some practice you'll see great improvements in your work.

Thank you! I have some tutorials and I'm still working on improving. Hopefully I'll get better soon.

This is my drawing of Mark the tactician from my story. Sorry for the bad quality.

Looks pretty good, but I have a question. What is that thing on Mark's side?

Have a nice day.

It's suppose to be a quiver... but I don't really know how to draw one.

So do I. I think it's the best one I have so far.

Here's another drawing. I'm not sure how to draw armor though, so it isn't that good. His face is really good though.

That picture gives me serious flashbacks to this character I used to use a lot: (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v698/AtriusV/sprites/Atrius_MC.gif)

Thinking back, I never was satisfied with his armor design either.  I gave him a fancy helmet to go with it, but it didn't change much.

OH MY GOD!!! I love your art! It's JUST LIKE my brother's! That's so awesome! Even the styles you use for character details and clothes is just like his!

Atrius, your guy would fit right in with Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.

He's just so friggin' awesome.

He wouldn't work so well in GS though...

Here's a drawing of a character I have in mind for a Katawa Shoujo fanfic.

His name's Haruki Tsuchiiro.

Hey, not bad. This latest guy looks pretty good. Not sure if I have anything else to say about it though (well, I do have one thing, but I can see by the art style that my suggestion hardly matters).

Have a nice day.

Okay then, although I doubt that your art style needs shading.

Have a nice day.

Now that I think about it, I think you're right... My pictures don't really look right if I try to shade it.

Example V

I tried to shade the dress... didn't work right.

Kawata Shoujo?  Isn't that the eroge 4chan made about dating cripples?

I think so...? I don't think it's an eroge though...

Anyway, here's my picture for Arlyn, the Mercury adept.

Fairly certain it is.  Anywho, do you have a color scheme for the artists to use when they turn it into sprites?
Title: Re: Whizkid's Artwork
Post by: Hoopa on 06, August, 2010, 10:49:57 AM
Yep, I'm working on coloring it right now. It'd be like Alex's, but darker and less vibrant.

Very nice...I really like your coloring style. I think it's time you tried some action shots. I'm trying, but moving from drawing a standing person to drawing a running person is more difficult than it seems.

^Arlyn Take 2! (sketch)

Now, does anyone know how to clean up drawings?
Title: Re: Whizkid's Artwork
Post by: Salanewt on 27, August, 2010, 12:03:47 PM
Looks good! As for cleaning it up, the best choice might be an eraser. If you can, I would go for a solid eraser similar to those sold at art stores, as pencil-tip erasers or other school purpose erasers are not the best for art. Otyherwise, you can use white paint or add a background (I would go for the background).

Have a nice day.

A short melody I have that's been stuck in my head for a while. Unfortunately, I don't quite know how to conclude it well.

Sounds quite nice Whizkid. Unfortunately, I am not quite sure how you could improve it, aside from suggesting that you either add more notes or a new instrument (or both). Sounds quite peaceful, which is nice.

Have a nice day.

A small sketch I did in class. Not that good, but I think I'm getting better...

This time I tried a new method of drawing heads, to see how it works.

He's supposed to look like a kid. Right now, he's holding a shield and a blade that's wielded sorta like a saw.

OKKK, i would have never guessed that is a Shield >< and the blade looks like a Lance head to me ><

The kid looks nice, but I have a question. Is he wearing a sleeve on his sword arm?

Have a nice day.

From what I see, on his left arm is an armlet, or a really small buckler. His right arm has a one-piece sleeve/fingerless glove with a bangle overtop, and he's got some sort of saw-sword.

Errrrr they look like socks to me ><

Might need some color changes to differentiate the bottom of the boot xd

Been a while. Here's some drawings, mostly uncolored, and a few of my dabblings at colored drawings.

They look fairly interesting, are they based on Dragon Quest drawings?

Edit: One minor thing that I noticed in the bottom pictures, but it doesn't look like he is holding the weapon in his hand. Other than that, I kind of like them.

Nice work.
I don't see why you say they are based on Dragon Quest .... They can be based on many games actually ... But i still like them ...
