:!: BREAKING NEWS :!:
I've been looking through the GS: Dark Dawn ROM and I have found that most of GS1&2's instruments are inside.
Whether they are higher quality or not is yet to be found.
I will be editing this post as I find more info, so stay tuned.
EDIT: Screw that, Atrius pretty much covered it.
Considering that the instrument samples alone take up more space than ALL of the audio data in TLA, I'm gonna go with yes.
Well I have new, improved samples for my soundfont then!
Also, I've realized that the original drums are missing, and I may have found the synth instruments.
If not, then I found some that sound pretty damn close to it.
Well I'm excited to hear it'll be released soon (from what I understand?). I'm anxious for the next release
Although, this will still be accurate, right?
I went through the MIDIs as extracted with NDS Sound Extractor and the sound effects are of higher quality than the GBA samples, but they are virtually the same otherwise.
[spoiler=sadness]Also, I'm very upset over the fact that very few songs from the original 2 games are actually in GS:DD, but at least they still have the same victory fanfare.
I was surprised to find they had one of the previous battle themes stored in wav format among the sound data. Seems kind of wasteful.
Yeah, I found that too. Any idea if it's used anywhere in the game?
(Also is it possible we could split the GS:DD music talk to a separate topic?)
Done.
Also, I haven't actually played the game yet, I'm still waiting for the English version so I can understand, and possibly enjoy the story.
Dark Dawn Instruments :?: :!:
I made a topic asking for TLA instruments and someone was able to post up a soundfont containing all of them.
Is it possible for someone to do the same with Dark Dawn? I'd sooooooooooooo appreciate that u have no idea
Thanks Atrius for splitting discussion!

I am working on compiling all of the instruments together and fixing the looping on them.
The instrument numbers are mixed up and don't match their actual instrument number, which will be a pain to fix.
:fury:

@Pkmn-Master
I feel like an idiot. it was you who posted up the soundfont last time
Thanks again and thanks in advance!
Any updates on the soundfont yet?
Dude, don't make new posts just to bump the topic, especially if you're double-posting to do so. Not cool.
oookayy. But I just wanted to know any updates. Didn't think editing my previous post would really do anything but ok.
I know, and I'm saying you should probably wait, or ask the question in the Cbox to get people to remember the topic. I know I've done that. :D
Usually when there's an update on something they'll make a post about it.
An update approaches!
Please note that the drums are just Golden Sun GBA's drums because I have yet to fix DD's set.
Those themes sound really good with that soundfont. Any idea on when it will be ready?
I'm excited. Please release it already :(
Sorry guys, no update for a while. School's really taking up a lot of my time and I wish I could work on it more.
Just like every soundfont I make, I'm having trouble with the looping.
Until I get the time and patience to loop these right, I'm on pause.
Aw man, I figured it'd be done by now :(
Not bad. Anyone ever think of doing the reverse? Taking the DD songs and plugging them into the TLA soundfonts?

You know what's weird, about GS:DD's sound files...
I was looking through them yesterday (because I transfered TLA's entire voicegroup data and wanted to add missing instruments) and GS:DD has TLA's voices. It makes me wonder... were they thinking about inserting the original music? If so, it's a real disappointment that they didn't...
Also, good job with the music, sound's legit to me.

Can I haz midi plox?
Also, maybe offtopic, but can midis be ripped with VGMTrans?

Yes it can be ripped using that program.
Just drag and drop the NDS Rom and then choose the music that you like to rip and from the bottom left menu choose the one that starts with SEQ and then convert to MIDI or save as MIDI depends on the version you have.

Dark Dawn Battle 2 - TLA Instruments

Epic job. Can you do the following ones as well? I want to use these in the Dimensional thingy hack - one battle and world theme for each clan territory.
Angaran Journey (http://www.mediafire.com/?2tqm1nljaquaomb) - Either Mars or Mercury Territory's World Map music. Probably Mercury's.
Ascent to Destiny (http://www.mediafire.com/?h09mz1936w99x94) - mostly likely one of the final areas, when going in to defeat the virus
Battle - Chaotic Climax (http://www.mediafire.com/?nd67d6ekfeexh64) - final battle song option, obv.
Battle - Fight of Sons (http://www.mediafire.com/?397ni7lmp5btb5a) - battle theme for the first area, most likely Mercury Territory.
Battle - Fight Through the Darkness (http://www.mediafire.com/?8wvt5ukl53voap5) - battle theme for the final (thus, corrupted) area.
Battle - Find Your Way (http://www.mediafire.com/?yhvlr8vo80gxrmf) - most likely Mars Territory's battle music - you've done this one already. We'll ignore the minor edit that was Force Your Way since it's just an instrument swap.
Battle - Formidable Enemy (http://www.mediafire.com/?3ya2yrjan2wrn7v) - third option for boss battles
Battle - Legacy of Power (http://www.mediafire.com/?wpdkqa91xgxfige) - upgraded Satty's theme with TLA instruments? Yes please!
Battle - Prove Your Worth (http://www.mediafire.com/?oqxqzbvv9ms56yf) - probably would be used with optional boss battles, such as vs Me and Leaf.
Battle - War with Tuaparang (http://www.mediafire.com/?ct3ggeyk6rzlaty) - corrupted duo fight, I figure. You'd fight the duo once or twice beforehand, once they get corrupted in the end, this would be used.
Passing the Obstacles (http://www.mediafire.com/?xc5kz2wewdaz51z) - world map theme for Martian territory, most likely.
As for the Jupiter and Venus clans...
Venus would get Isaac's battle and world map themes.
Jupiter would get Felix's battle theme and Traversing Weyard.
Lots of coins and mad props will be awarded for getting all this.
I want the soundfont sooo badly!
@Role, I've got some of your songs on the way. (I've never seen you so excited!)
Will edit this post as I upload.
Battle! Fight of Sons (Fixed) (http://www.mediafire.com/?a92tebkfvo6shks)
Battle! Fight Through the Darkness (http://www.mediafire.com/?1pdh0kczvbj1hps)
Boss Battle! Formidable Enemy (http://www.mediafire.com/?e5uuvnnu910s5h4)
Boss Battle! Proving Your Worth (http://www.mediafire.com/?yynl9rqcqt0qawz)
Boss Battle 2 would be "Prove Your Worth". Think about it, the two times you had that music, who were you fighting?
Heh, I can't wait to plug these into the game.
So is the soundfont ready yet?
I have put the Dark Dawn Soundfont on hold until I get more knowledge on how to fix samples' looping.
In the mean time, could you upload more songs in TLA's soundfont?
I've got some other things I want to try from Sakuraba's works, but I can't link them at work. I'll upload and link at home, though. I'd really love to hear how they work with TLA's soundfonts...
I just did another song with DD's instruments.
Tales of Rebirth - Desperate Battle (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25419725/TalesofRebirth_DesperateBattle.mp3)
Everything's Dark Dawn except for the drums.
@Role: Just PM me the links to YouTube or whatever. Or if not, Soundcloud is a great alternative, and it's free.
So anybody got any news on a soundfont for Dark Dawn? Also..the Palace Theme from GS would sound nice in the Dark Dawn Soundfont, same with Mercury Lighthouse
I'm almost as eager to get ahold of these instruments as I am for the work being done at making it possible to extract instruments from Pokemon Stadium. c:
I'd like to throw it out there that most programs that use sound samples allow advanced looping options that are simply impossible with raw samples. D= If that's what you're still having trouble with.
Otherwise, let me know if there's anything I can do to help. -w-
EDIT: Heck, if you sent me a sample and tell me what's wrong with the loop I could see what can be done to fix it. Preferably in a nice raw .wav format. (Though I could always go through the trouble of converting them.)
