hay guys,
i've been stuck with a issue that involves changing the charater's battle sprites and other sprites from GS I charater to GS II charater for my fist GS I hack.

how can i do this? and is it possible to do with the editor?

Question: I import the sprites for Felix/Sheba from TLA game all of them? From 0 - ???
Also, I have to use the spite editor of TLA editor 0.5r2? How, I'm very confused on how to get it to work,
Any way to import the sprites and what size? 32x32 etc

Also, I have to import each sprite for the one charater's movements one by one, and not all in one go?

For the weapon chaging, I saw that issue, as iassac had two swords on him, instead of one. Lol.
I'll need to ask around for that.

hay everyone!
here's one of my hacks that im working on ATM:

Golden Sun I hack (unnamed for now).

so, my hack has these changes (more soon)

Changes from normal GS I

+ Characters replaced (Iassac/Garet/Ivan/Mia) > (Felix/Jenna/Sheba/Piers)

   - in name and portrait only (for Felix/Shebia etc)
   - Iassac has become Felix, and has battle sprite of Young iassac (As felix's sprite doesn't exist in GS I)

   - Garet switched to Jenna, battle sprite of Jenna, and portrait.

   - Ivan has become Sheba, battle sprite changed to young garet (as sheba's sprite isn't present in GS I)

   - Mia has become Piers, battle sprite and portrait changed to Menadi (as there's no data with regards to piers in GS I).
+ the elemental stars are items that can be equipped and use for attacking! also can be found from certain monsters dropped. Ex. "Felix raises the Venus star" and this unleashes mother Gia.


+ some useful psynergies have been added from the beginning in order to access an area in Vale to get Halt pysnergy and the Jupiter djinn, Kate. Can also use frost to get into Lumpa early and sneak into the fortress etc. lift/reveal/frost/halt (found in vale cave), cloak ball (Cloak pysnergy).



+ the men at Lumpa fortress changed from bandit to young iassac c (c is copy, but game cuts it out).
+ some bosses in the later stage made easer to beat ex. Dreadbread.
+ order of game will be swifted, and this doesn't affect the story at all.
+ the boss of Lumpa fortress! will be made easier (since it is the second boss fight after valt's boss) ex. Toadonpa.
+ a lot of stuff (work in progress can/maybe) be done before reaching Iunt and Mercury Lighthouse and getting Mia (peirs).

If I understand you correctly, you're asking if changing character sprites in GS1 will have an effect on character sprites in GS2 after transferring data.
I'm 99% sure that the answer is no - the sprites ought to be completely unrelated to the transfer. Only data like stats, items, levels, Djinn, and a few other things are involved in the transfer. There's no reason for the sprites to be involved; sprite data is already stored separately in GS2. But I've never tried it myself, though.

The dialogue for the cutscene doesn't show up when you click the characters on the map, so you'll have to go to the "Text" section of the editor and find the dialogue there. The whole cutscene's dialogue should be there in a row, so it shouldn't be difficult to do. Just remember that you can't change the emotes the characters use.

i have figured as much out, i looked at the "text" section, but it is SO big that i couldn't find the briggs text that i wanted. :(
will need to look again for it more carefully, just like the AA_FUME that i found after carefully looking for it, the same way i will find the text for briggs.

Just so you know, I believe Atrius has quit the editor. Also, I was planning on making another Golden Sun editor made in a different language other than GML, but even then, I still take long hiatuses on working with Golden Sun. If it has an issues then I'll stick with 0.4 version.

Can you add a sprite chaging feature for party 1-2 sprites 0-3, 4-7 like in my example above in your next version? If possible and it's doable?

Yeah, if I can find the map the protagonists are on (depending on the game) then I can can their map sprite, not sure if map sprite is related to their overall game sprite (throughout the entire game I mean).

I wish there was a feature in gs editor that allows you to change the charater's sprite to a diffrent one for the whole game.

Maybe in a future version? Teawater's version 0.2 perhaps?

I rechecked the map section for Briggs room and finally found it under: 99: AA_FUME.

And managed to change the sprites to not exactly Satouros and Meninadi, but to something different.
Wasn't able to edit briggs's text dialogue, not sure why.

For the gs I, I changed the battle sprites of iassac/garet/Ivan/Mia to young iassac (Felix dub), Jenna, young garet (Sheba dub) and menadi (piers dub).

The weapon sprites are a bit messed up as iassac shows his sword and his normal sword above young iassac's head. Werid, but gs I doesn't contain the stuff from gs ii, so I'll make dew with what I have.

Yeah, it's pretty good I guess.

and i would like to ask some of my questions that i have on the editor.

through my testing of the editor i came across these issues:

1) for my GS 2 hack, i wanted to change Briggs and his pirates to Saturos and Menandi. i changed their battle sprites etc.
but for changing briggs's room sprite along with his pirate buddy to Saturos and Menandi, i have checked the section of "map" for the room that houses briggs and pirate buddy, but no luck, any help on what the Room/Map code for accessing his room is? (the one where you fight him)

2) for changing the battle sprites of the GS 1 charaters, i know that Felix/Shebia/Peirs's battle sprites and portraits don't exist in GS 1, but jenna's does.
   i know isn't possible to change the battle and portraits(only peri's doesn't exist) in GS 1 to the GS2 charters as their data doesn't exist in GS 1.

but, if i change the battle sprite of Iassac to young iassac (to have some ex fleix) and jenna, ivan becomes young garret (shebia) and mia becomes um something.
if i do this of gs 1, then when i carry my save over to GS2, does the battle sprites of the Iassac party (felix dubbed) have to be the same as in GS1 or will their GS 2 sprites work fine?

thanx so much for the Teawater version of GS TLA editor, Teawater  :happy:

um, i noticed that in the sprite section for GS 1/2 that there are some tools for editing the different sprites as well as changing the decompression format: 3,2,1,0 etc.

i tried it export a sprite ex. Ivan 0.gif or png and then tried to import it into Shebia's first sprite, but it couldn't save it etc.

other than this how can sprites for overworld etc for charters in party be changed?

what about adding in the feature in the next version of the editor to be able to change your Golden Sun 1 Overworld Charater sprites from:

to

and the same for Golden Sun 2 TLA from:

this being for the overworld, as for battle i can change the charters fine.

this feature will go for the version of Atrius editor? or Teawater's version of the editor?

also, before i joined gs hacking (when i was coming to the site back and froth for info on various gs stuff while working on the editor) i saw there wasn't much activity. never mind that through, maybe now with my questions, etc there might/may be some activity.

um, i'll be sure to ask all my questions i have related to the editor.

yeah, i knida was wondering on what to do when i the editor couldn't provide me with X solution for Y problem, but ten after trying and failing, i gave up  :sad:
also, the editor that Alrtus was working on, v0.4.2 big fix is his last version? i read that he won't be updating it anymore?

there's Teawater's Version of GS Lost age editor through. (it is developing slowly bit by bit?)

i'll check out the gs section for the editor and post my questions etc.

i'm Goldensunfan10, a recent new user to the forums here (joined yesterday)
I'm a very big fan of the Golden sun series, i have Golden sun 1 and 2 on GBA, i still have the carts from 2001-2003 in good condition and I'm playing them on my ds etc.

I'm working on a GS 2 and GS 1 hack of mine using the Golden sun editor by Altus (big thanx for him for making it for us to use  :happy: )

i joined these forums to share my experience on the gs hacking stuff, get some help on some hacking queries etc.  :Isaac:

my favorite charater is :Isaac: .
through the others are awesome too.

i have also played GS DD, it's awesome too. but lacks the lighthouse elements etc from the previous games. but overall GS series is fantastic

I'm a college student ATM, and I'm interested in video game hacking etc.
so GS hacking drew my attention immediately.

i can't wait to share my hacking experience and get to meet new fans of GS hacking :)
