Messages - Johnstir

Ok, I'll contribute to this conversation.

-Felix's silence was OK when I was younger, but I honestly think he deserves a bit more personality then just "Why?" and "....!?" Chalk it up to being older and expecting more, I suppose.

-There was this one Island where I couldn't do ANYTHING to get a djnn. I think it was the one with the waterfall going DOWN the screen

-Doom Dragon's OPness.

I did like the class system though, it allowed for one to be quite the little tactician, even when in charge of a team of 4.

-Also didn't exactly like how I somehow managed to ignore Sheba for most of my life, which resulted in me never learning about her little "Destiny" thing.

Vermin: Well, actually, it doesn't turn you into that monster. In the code, the eight characters (Isaac-Piers) are all counted as the very first eight enemies, and the ones that come after are the first ones displayed in the editor. I think it would be kind of like how Sveta's werewolf thing in Dark Dawn works, only far less useful because of the limitations imposed on it by the code.

The downside to this is that it can make monsters in battle bug out for some reason, likely because the player characters are contributing to the overall monster count and messing up their ability to render properly.

As for you not having the whip, huh. Have you tweaked Jenna's base elements and/or class elemental requirements? Alternately, have you tried getting a djinni or class item, equipping that on her, and then removing it again?
Haven't tried the djnn or class item thing, but then again, I haven't checked to see if any of the other characters are suffering from this strange lyntcaropy (Bet I butchered that poor word, but I bet people know what I'm getting at). But how am I gonna mod a Djnn to appear at Jenna's segment? I can't understand the how the event system works.

I just grabbed her elemental stats off of the editor, trying to see if changing Jenna's class will do anything.

IT WORKED!!!
:Jenna:Yeah, but that means that I have to be either a Pierrot, a Tamer, or a Witch Doctor to get around you little glitch.
Hey, Pierrot's a good class for you, especially with Heat Juggle.
:Jenna: :um:

Also, the glitch of Jenna becoming a Vermin glitching out the battle sprites sort of makes sense. Just wish the editor didn't have such a high chance of turning the game into something that can't function at all....

Yeah, the NPC class/class type 12 (I think it is 12) is what turns your characters into enemies.

Does removing the whip it at the start of the game fix your ability to change between the two classes? If so, then it may have something to do with the game not fully recognizing that an item has been equipped to change your class while still recognizing that a standard class should not be used, and so you may have to keep it off of your characters' starting inventories.

But here's the rub....
:Jenna: :?:
the whip doesn't show up in the Inventory, plus, the OP Weapon that doesn't take up the weapon slot? It's supposed to give me 3 turns, instead it just acts as if it's not working. (I actually had the idea of adding weapons that allow you to move 3 times, I figured that to balance it out, it'll have to be the Bonus Bosses that drop them, btw. Still gotta see if they work tho)

:Jenna: This is odd....Maybe you should try removing the whip from me and see what happens?

I suppose....

<Checks Editor to do so>

What the...?

:Jenna: :?:
The whip ain't there....
:Jenna: :um: :um: :um:

:Mia: :um: :um: :um:

Yup, still register's Jenna's sprite as a monster Sprite...
And what's even more, is that I checked the editor, Jenna's sprite is that of a Vermin, which two sole skills are Attack and Defend. Might explain the sudden loss of skills, but why is the game using a monster instead of good ol' Jenna...?
 :Mia:Hopefully, someone's able to explain.

EDIT: Just fought my way to the event where you fight 3 Ruffians. Ruffian3's sprite is missing entirely.

Yeah, the data and map viewers can be a little buggy in 0.5 version.

Data: Just be careful about clicking on certain things and you should be fine. Mind if I ask what you are trying to view?

Map: This may not be an issue for you, but in my case at least I can only look at up to three maps before the editor crashes; a simple reload should work, even if it's a tad annoying to have to do it.

Sprite: Yeah... now that feature was super early in development. :|

The things in the editor that say "Empty Slot" Hmmm.....Turns out, it crashes in Image Viewer...

:Jenna:Alright, what did you do this time?

I....Kinda made it so that the Trainer's Whip is in your inventory when the game starts, and suddenly, You're a lvl 99 glitchy monster with no Psynergy, No Djinn, and armed with only the Wooden Staff and the OP Weapon I made (Which some reason doesn't take a weapon slot.)

Also, it says "NPC" as your class.

:Jenna: :um: :um: :um: Really?

Yes. In fact, I actually have proof.

:Jenna:Huh, so you're not kidding. I do think this should be fixed ASAP.

Opinion Seconded.

:Mia:There's something wrong again, is there?

Yup.

The editor seems to consistently stop responding when I click on a Empty Slot in the Data Viewer. And I'm using the 0.5 version, so I dunno what's going on.

IN FACT, as of me typing and posting this, It's still not responding, Soooo.....yea....

:Jenna: How much experience do you have with game editors anyway, Johnstir?

Well....The only other thing I've used was a free trial version of RPG Maker VX Ace that I never got to finish.

EDIT: Seems the Editor won't let me use a empty sprite slot either, proclaiming that I must use a 16x16 image, and apparently, nothing I have, even the in-game sprites themselves-are 16x16
*Sigh*
:MercuryDjinni:HA! HE CAN'T WORK THE EDITOR TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THEN START EVERYONE AT LVL 99 AND PUT IN A OVERPOWERED WEAPON!!!
Shut up Mudki-Wait, you're not John.

:Alex: Hmmm....Seems Johnstir can't find the 0.5 version of the TLA editor. How unfortanate.

Shut up Alex, Sheesh when I played Golden Sun TLA when I was younger, I somehow completely ignored you. But now I am just SEVERELY ANNOYED BY YOUR MYSTERIOUS-NESS!!!

Oh right! anyhow, I can't seem to find the 0.5 download link anywhere on the site. Sooo.... yeaahhh...

EDIT: Found the link, turns out, I had to bother googling the version of the editor.

:Jenna:Yeah, not to be rude, but you did kinda make yourself look a tad dumb there...

Jenna, shut up.

While I could ask you to go to Help>About, I'm going to just guess instead...
You are -probably- using version 0.4? Correct me if I'm wrong... as I am guessing based on the fact that the Data Viewer icon is not in that image. (0.5 was his last and final version... as Atrius is no longer working on the GS Editor project... last time we've heard.)

QuoteI'm also wondering if it's possible to change the max amount of party members, but that's something I will deal with later...
It's not possible with the editor... While it may technically be possible from a hex editor standpoint, it would likely take a huge amount of work to do... and assembly/coding knowledge is definitely required.
Of course, if you're planning on reducing the amount, that may be as simple as keeping the PC from joining your team to begin with....

Actually, I found where it said the version, and yes, it's version 0.4 fix 2, awhile after I posted though.
So I'm gonna have to grab 0.5 if I'm planning on doing something like add Flandre Scarlet as a bonus boss? (Yes, I do realize that it was already done, I'm still trying to do it anyway.) I've even went as far as grabbing Field and Battle sprites for her. (With the  Battle Sprites being ripped from Mystical Chain. Not too sure where the Field Sprite was ripped.)

Anyhow, I would actually like help with figuring this out anyway.

I think I need help exporting sprites, and I don't think that me not knowing what version of the editor I'm using helps.

I did make a screenshot of my editor though.

Hope it helps.

I'm also wondering if it's possible to change the max amount of party members, but that's something I will deal with later...

I'm kinda new to the editing scene, and to be honest, I don't even know what version of the tla editor I'm using, as I'm still trying to get the ropes of it, BUT anyhow, hey everyone!
