You should not use the USA version, but the Italian one.
It supports lots of special characters. I used it in my Portuguse translation.
The "normal" toolkit cannot extract the text, but can reinsert it to the rom just fine. So, if you manage (as I did) to put the text in the exact ordem from the italian rom, it will work.
I don´t know why, but the italian rom is better to translate, because it supports more lines in the dialogues.

Or... you could ask Caledor for his already compatible with the italian rom toolkit .

The good news is that the Lost Age USA version supports a lot of special characters.

Hmmm

1) Mia did not even tried to cure Dora when she was ill.
2) Isaac's party accepted to help Babi, even he being bad as the devil.
3) No Anemos.
4) Lame Lemuria.
5) "I'll fight enough for the both of us" line from Isaac in GS2 battle room.
6) No returning to GS1 locations in GS2.

And no, I didn't translate the first game. But it is a pretty solid translation into polish, so I'm going to partially base mine on it.
... Erm, maybe I'll leave the original Djinn names, they sound really silly in my language. :)

Anyway, how far did you get?

Hmmm... Maybe 25%... I'll continue as soon as I solve some work issues.

But... getting diagonal autotiles to hork with VX ace...  I could only make it "square". I'm still trying, though.

If you could post a test screen shot with a diamond shaped lake, I think that'll sort things out.


I'll try to create a separate autotile for diagonal, but I still don't know if it will work. I'll attach my tile here, so you could give a hand.

Edit 1: i made some rushed autotile (second attach). It seems it can be done, but I hope someone with more skill can handle it.
