Hello norn...

Anyway, keep in mind that spam is quite a lot more restricted here.

What do you mean by more evaluation? Do you mean in the story?

No, not really. I mean, like, why would they create the time portal? How? What did it look like?
4  The Community / Creative Works / Re: The Fallen Tactician on: March 07, 2010, 06:43:04 AM

Garm is the Sacred Twin black axe of Grado. Garm is S-Ranked, meaning a unit must have an S-Rank in axes to use it. Due to the fact that a unit can only one S-Rank, a, say, a Warrior must choose between S-Ranking Bows or S-Ranking Axes. However, I slightly lied. Lyon can S-Rank both Dark Magic and Staves. In Fire Emblem 6: Fuuin no Tsurugi, a unit can S-Rank all possible weapons it can use. Therefore, a FE6 unit, to be specific, a FE6 Paladin, the best of which is Zealot, could use Garm, Audhulma, and Vidofnir. I'm sorry, I slightly lied again. A FE6 unit could not use Fire Emblem 8: The Sacred Stones weapons. However, it can use FE6 weapons. Therefore, it can use the Armads, Durandal, and Malte. However, it can not use all three at once, unless the game has been significantly altered and the Paladin has three arms. But that's slightly off-topic, I digress. We are talking about FE8 because we are on the FE8 board. The possible wielders of Garm are, in order of appearance, Gilliam, Franz, Garcia, Ross, Kyle, Forde, Amelia, Duessel, Gerik, Dozla, Caellach, and Fado. Quite a large portion of FE8's cast can use Garm. However, many of these units can only use axes post-promotion, therefore increasing the difficulty of getting them an S-Rank in axes. It can be done easier, however, if you use the Devil Axe. The Devil Axe gives 8 times as much axe weapon experience as most other axes or most other weapons. However, the Devil Axe is very heavy and very innaccurate. Also, it can backfire and do damage to the user equal to the damage it would've done to the opponent. The Devil Axe is risky but it has a good potential benefit for the user. Garm gives a +5 bonus to Speed. This is good because many of the potential Garm wielders could benefit from the boost. In appearance of order, I mean order of appearance, they are Garcia, Ross, Kyle, Duessel, Dozla, Caellach and Fado. None of them have good Speed. The stereotypical axe user often lacks Speed. A notable exception to this is Dart from Fire Emblem 7: Rekka no Ken. Dart has an impressive Speed stat, so giving Dart the Garm axe would increase his Speed to make it quite high. I'm sorry, I slightly lied again. Please punish me in a kinky way. Back to what I was saying. Dart cannot use Garm, despite the fact that the only weapon type he can use, let alone S-Rank, is axes. Why, you ask? Garm does nto, I mean, not, exist in FE7. However, Basilikos does. Basilikos could be considered an inferior version of Garm. I'm sorry, but I am digressing from the point I am trying to make. Please reprimand me if I do this again. Garm is acquired upon completing Eirika's Chapter 15: Scorched Sand or Ephraim's Chapter 14: Father and Son. Interestingly, the son does not appear during the Chapter. I'm sorry, i, I mean I, slightly lied again. The son, Lyon, appears in conversation scenes before and after the main conflict in Father and Son. However, I am slightly digressing. Upon completion of said Chapter(s), Garm, along with Gleipnir, are added to the main character's inventory. However, something interesting happens when the main character's inventory is full. I am sorry, what happens isn't very interesting. Something truly interesting does happen when the main character's inventory and the Supply convoy is full. In the first instance, you will have to send two of the main character's items to Supply, and you will have to discard two of the main character's items in the latter circumstance. This creates the interesting paradox where the sacred relics of Grado can be simply discarded. This is interesting because such powerful items, two of the eight used to defeat the feared Demon King, are merely thrown away.I'm sorry, I slightly lied again. Only seven of those items can be used against the Demon King. Latona, the Holy Staff of Rausten, cannot be used against the Demon King because it is a staff that heals all of your units except the one who uses it. However, it has little strategic use because getting one of your units to S-Rank Staves is worthless. I'm sorry, I digressed yet again. Please discipline me, Master.

Now, I really like the concept, and I've only read the first chapter, but it's not very well executed. The most obvious is the varying tenses.

Quote from: present tense
Athos seems to accept his fate however
Quote from: past tense
Mark and his friends' journey was close to an end

Some sentences could be rewritten to make little sense, for example:
Athos was the first to recover from the shock of the dragons and to try and do something to stop them.
Could be improved by saying:
Athos was the first to recover from the shock of the dragons' appearance, and immediately attempted to stop them.

Some are grammatically incorrect:
At that moment. Bramimond then appears and with Ninian.
Could be replaced by:
At that moment, Brammimond appeared with Ninian.

Some are just fugly:
Surprisingly, she was able to use her ice dragon powers which she kills two of the dragons and severely weakens the last one.

And some I would like some more evaluation, like the concept of the time portal.

Other than this, it seems quite good. The plot is quite original, and I'll probably end up reading the rest... eventually.

7  General Hacking / General Editor / Re: Mario Sun Topic: Player Characters on: February 24, 2010, 12:19:17 PM
I personally find 4 as the best number, since it makes it easier to work with... but so far it's going for 8...

This. A story with a maxed-out poarty of 8 would be overly complicated, and I can't see most of those characters getting enough... I forget the word...

Whatever, just look at Mia or Piers, very shallow characters, and look at Ivan- very serendipitous meeting..

And having an amount between 4 and 8 would just look ugly >_>

EDIT: Backstory.

I don't think this deserves its own topic so-

So basically... it's a Mario Game with the GS engine? I love it!

Well, there are a couple of things I might add, but keep in mind I've only ever played Superstar Saga and Partners in Time.

Mimics could easily become Thwomps, building up on the "?" block idea.

There could be a bit of a problem with the puzzle like dungeons, as a whole new series of sprites would be made, and, seeing a jump element, one would likely wonder- "Why don't I just jump onto the pillar?"

Well, here are my two cents on utility psynergies:

Reveal:Torch (Fire)

I can't see much allocation for a reveal psynerg, other than causing the surrounding dark and using a "Torch " psynergy as a light and giving the surroundings a redd hue. I think it's possible.

Whirlwind: Burn (Fire)

Simple. You burn grass instead of blowing it away, as we have no wind element. Unless I'm mistaken. Which is quite likely.

Hand Set Psynergies (Move, Catch, Lift, etc): Variety of Names (Jump)

A Luigi sprite, or whoever, replaces the hand image and jumps to the object, doing whatever the psynergy normally does.

Naturally, some can be kept like Frost or Burst, but yeah, most of them won't make much sense.
10  The Community / Tech, Gaming and Entertainment / Re: Pokémon! on: February 09, 2010, 11:13:50 AM
I've got something important to say-

The greatest combo ever.

Hippowdon for Sandstorm.
Ninjask: Protect: Speed +1, Sub: Speed +1 Attack +1, Protect: Speed +1, Baton Pass
Aggron: Head Smash

As long as Ninjask doesn't get outsped on the first Sub (highly unlikely- +1 with base 160) or ouprioritsed, and taking it's x4 Stealth Rock weakness, you get guaranteed +3 Speed and +1 Attack. If no Stealth Rock, guaranteed +5. Baton Pass into Aggron, who has a base 180 defence, 60 +1 (sandstorm) Special defence, and a 225 base power move (Head Smash) taking into account STAB, now with +1 attack. Give Aggron SubPunch for defence and decent coverage, and Magnet Rise to cancel out its 4x Ground weakness, and you've got one broken sweeper.

Well, not skip, but temporarily walk around it to get to Garoh.

So, do you think it will be a good idea?
14  The Editor / Golden Sun Hacking / Re: My somewhat odd hack on: January 31, 2010, 12:29:58 PM
Okay, so I've been thinking. (oh sh-)

Well, the Temple has recently had a large uprise of "Let's Play"'s, right? So why don't I make a Let's Play for this? I mean really, I don't think I've made a single contribution here, and this could possibly get quite a few more people to try out the hack, and maybe a couple new members. So far, I'm only up to Garoh, and I've skipped the desert, so I won't be backtracking much.

Of course, you're free to disagree.

EDIT: Of course only being able to get up to Lemuria would be a problam, as well as potential glitches... Hey I can use a save file from this patch on a later version of it, right?

Am I the only one that finds the off-topic discussion debate argument complaining flames hilarious?

No, no you are not.

Fox: So um. It looks like abilties in the class editor are being put back in as a byte for GS1?
August 12, 2019, 08:02:58 PM
Fox: Also, it seems most of us have moved to the Discord. In case if you were wondering where the forums activity went. Maybe come by and check it out. But it is just a suggestion, you don't have to.
August 12, 2019, 07:57:02 PM
Fox: I figured that was a possibility. If you are guesting, it is hard to know how frequently you check back. It's great to hear from you, though. :)   What have you been up to?  Is Forgotten Dreams still being worked on, or has that been cancelled? (I'd guess you don't have much time for it. It's been years since we've last heard about it.)

Atrius: If anyone wants to make a replacement site then go for it.  Although I plan to keep this place up for the foreseeable future, it isn't really maintained anymore.
August 11, 2019, 05:09:10 PM
Atrius: Sometimes he comes by and looks around without logging in.
August 08, 2019, 11:52:33 AM
Fox: Does Atrius still come here? He hasn't logged in since last year. Maybe it is time to create a replacement site so we can have our full encyclopedia... Then again, I'm too lazy. Especially to get all that done by myself. :/
