Just a few ideas for games I may eventually get off my butt and figure out how to do.  Most likely nothing will come to fruition, but hey, if I can score a team to help get these games to light (even if it's just in doujin-game fashion like touhou was done), that'd be pretty cool.

To start this off, just a few character profiles.  I may even get art done for them later and use them in RPs or something to help flesh out the character.

Oh, and a few notes about the world first, to have some background.  World has five elements - Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, and the neutral-elemental Void.  Each works on a more GS-type system than the opposing elements system of most games - each person has a certain innate strength and resistance to various elements - the more of one element innate to the person, the more gifted and resistant to it they are.  Different species also have different trends, so some monsters may only be tied to two or three elements.  Humans are attuned to all of them, though Void is rare for them.  Elves are probably here too, and are a bit more balanced elementally, and a Void affinity is just as common as with any other element.  The Void element ignores elemental strengths and resistances - instead it negates a certain percentage of the target's magic resist stat when calculating damage.

There's a noticeable difference in magical practice between nobility and commoners.  It is generally explained quite simply:  Everyone has potential, but it's usually only nobles who can afford the schooling, as it's not cheap.  Even then, not all who can afford it are particularly gifted, so even one who's learned in magic may only use it for utility means, and prefer physical combat.  Anyone who's been through schooling has summoned a familiar, though.  These familiars range from the traditional animal-kin to divine-aligned being such as angels, and occasionally humans.  It isn't uncommon for familiars to have elements foreign to the world, though, for not every realm shares the element system of this world.  One thing is for certain, though - those who could wield those other elements cannot wield them unless they actually exist.  So if lightning was a separate element in that realm, they can't wield it in this one - they'd have to use Wind in a creative way in order to get the same effect.

Gameplay wise, the whole party levels at once - instead of having individual character levels, the process of growing stronger is shared by the party, so everyone will remain about evenly strong.  Equipping different weapons changes movesets unique to the character, so one must look at which moveset is best for which character.  This may or may not affect the character-specific talent, which is different for each character.  Characters do not gain new weapons as time progresses in the game, so there is no need to upgrade equipment, instead, there's more of an emphasis on knowing which weapon to take into which area - which ones will help in the upcoming situations, and which ones don't work well together (example:  Using Spells cast with Ellen's Wand and Tome may and spells from Ragna's Rod selection may cause too many problems in an area where a physical option for Ragna is preferred.  Timing issues may also happen, where spellcasting goes off at the same time, causing unwanted or unexpected results).  Knowing what to use and which balance of techniques is important.  However, things like armor and accessories are changeable/upgradable.  Later on, one will be able to create customized versions of them once crafting becomes available, and knowing which effects to give which person are things that can come in very handy.

Characters:

Name:  Ellen
Gender:  Female
Element:  Void
Race:  Human
Weapons:  Wand and Tome, Staff, Rod, Ankh
Talent:  Mirror - casts a Void-elemental version of a spell used by another character.
Talent Limitations:  As Ellen is a pure-mage, she cannot mirror physical skills due to a lack of physical conditioning to pull it off.  Some spells she may also not have the sheer power needed to mirror.  She can also only mirror spells currently in their skill list - so she cannot mirror a spell if it requires the character to be using a different weapon.
Description:  A young mage in her last two years at school.  Though in the past she had problems casting spells, it was suggested to her by an Elven classmate that it may be that she's of Void - not common to humans.  As it turned out she was, and by trying to cast spells of her element similar to others taught at the school she was finally able to start casting spells like the rest of her classmates.  She chose to summon her familiar in her Junior year, summoning Ragna.  She has also begun learning to control the other elements, and slowly, yet surely, she's catching up to being on par with the other students in the school.

Name:  Ragna
Gender:  Female?
Element: Chaos
Race: Human (Ageless)
Weapons: Sword, Claw, Rod, Spell Cannon
Talent:  Shift - changes the element of one of her skills from Null to one of the Four Elements.
Talent Limitations:  Shifted moves suffer backlash when targeting anything of the Void element - the skill/spell will backfire, dealing no damage to the target, and causing 25% of the damage it'd have done back to her, and putting her into slow status.
Description:  A young, seemingly five-year old girl which pure white hair.  She was summoned as Ellen's familiar, and is quite loyal, often bringing up the contract of the familiar to explain things.  Very quickly it becomes clear that she isn't five at all - it turns out, the same incident that gave her her powers changed the form of her body and 'whited' her hair, turning her into what was known as an Ageless in the realm she's from.  As such, she's actually several millennia old.  Though her powers are mostly retained in this realm, since the elements of Light, Dark, and Chaos do not exist in this realm, she still has trouble adjusting to the lack of them.  It's often hinted at that she was often viewed as being more than just a human, but Ragna insists that she follow 'one contract at a time', often trying to change the subject about her past.

Name:  Ruma
Gender:  Female
Element:  Dark
Race:  Youkai
Weapons:  Sword, Claw, Staff, Aura
Talent:  Phantom Unite - Ruma taps into the demonic energies she uses to power up another character's attacks, attacking with them in unison in a "Phantom" version of the attack.
Talent Limitations:  She cannot use this on Void elemental techniques, as Void rejects even Divine and Demonic energies.  Furthermore, the joint attack uses up her action, so she cannot take an action and preform a Phantom unite at the same time.  However, the power increase usually makes up for it.
Description:  A being of the race of "youkai" hailing from the same realm as Ragna.  It is a race distantly related to Demons, able to tap into the same energies as them, though without a lot the negative things attached to demons.  Those demonic energies allow her to use her same powers as she had before, since they exist outside the elements, allowing her to use them in a way to imitate darkness.  Ruma is in a romantic relationship with Ragna, and went through many hardships trying to find a way to get back to her when she was summoned by Ellen.  Though youkai age much slower than humans, Ruma appears much older than Ragna when not under the effects of an illusion.  For this reason, she often is seen under the effects of an illusion to appear the same age as Ragna.  The two often look like a pair then - with Ruma's black hair and outfit mirroring Ragna's white hair and outfit.

Name:  Marris
Gender:  Male
Race:  Elf
Element:  Wind
Weapons:  Daggers, Bow, Wand and Tome, Ankh
Talent:  Trick Cast - Marris can choose to cast spells as an 'instant', weakening them but casting them immediately, or choose to 'hold' spells, empowering them but causing them to take longer to finish casting.  Through skilled timing, he can unleash multiple spells at once, fusing them into something stronger.
Talent Limitations:  Marris can only fuse spells of the same base - in other words, he can't fuse an instant use of Wind Slash with a standard use of Gale Spin.  Both spells must come from the same skill being used.
Description:  The elf who helped Ellen earlier in her school life.  The two have since become good friends, and he continues to tutor her.  Unlike other students, he knows she's actually quite gifted, but since it's very unexpected for a human to have void as their innate, he helped her with the basics and is seeing her quickly get up to speed (though she'll still say it's going slowly).  His family is one of the few elven families in the area, as unlike other countries, elves are a very small minority in this country.  He summoned his familiar several years ago, a large black bird (I figure Charon will help me with this one), whom he trusts with many things.  The two actually get along well, though he is the only one who can understand what the bird is saying.

Name:  Va'lnelah (aka Va'l, Vanilla)
Gender:  Male
Race:  Angel
Element:  Light
Weapons:  Ankh, Bow, Dagger, Aura
Talent:  (To be figured out)
Talent Limitations:  (To be figured out)
Description:  A divine being summoned to be the familiar of (Character yet to be made).  The first time he was met, he accused Ragna and Ruma of trying to bring destruction to the land and attacked them.  After having things sorted out, his master is making him help them out to make amends.  Though he will begrudgingly acknowledge that he was hasty in his accusations, he and Ragna still often fight, with her often mocking and goading him, calling him "Vanilla".  Though it's clear that she's teasing him, it still manages to rile him up, and their masters often has to intervene to break it up.  Though he'd never say it himself, he actually admires his master quite a bit, as despite being much younger than Va'l, has more angelic qualities to him, something that Va'l has always struggled with.

I'm also wanting Va'l's master, though I've not come up with him yet.

And as a disclaimer... yeah, Ellen's kinda roughly inspired by Louise, Ruma by Rumia, and Marris by that drawing of charon's of the Blonde guy in the Fedora.  I actually want to have this chock full of some stealth references here and there - for example, one of Ragna's claw shift-techniques, specifically the fire one, though it won't actually be called it, I'd love for her to actually cry out "Falcon PAWNCH!" instead of the expected "Flame Crash".  So it's kinda done on purpose.
