Hmm... Well, dunno if any palette restrictions are pegged in the animation, but it looks really nice.  It'll be up to atrius for the final word...

But I can tell you this - you'll need to drop the borders on the icons, and I'm fairly certain those violate the palette restrictions.  Check my sprite icon thread... Actually, here, I'll link you to this:

Also, if you want a nice icon for spacing purposes, use this: .  Don't see anything?  That's because it's a blank icon used to space things nicely on the forum.  Works wonders for posting spellgroups.[/spoiler]

The menu icons are 16x16 with a 1px border, so it's really 14x14.  They also need a transparent background, so use .png or .gif.  Those fifteen colors?  That's it.  That's all you're allowed to use.

The map icon worksheet I had to split in two halves - combine them in a program to make MapSetAndWorkplaceDX.  It's got the palette on both the top and bottom, as well as a nice workplace for you to work.  The margins for the images can be: 32x32, 32x64, 64x32, or 64x64.

The portraits can use any fifteen colors (and transparent), so long as those colors have values that are multiples of 8.

I will say again what I said in the PMs: they all look really nice, and I look forward to seeing what else you come up with in the future. However, I do have some things to add to what Role said...

Item icons:

From what I recall, this is just a general rule for organizational purposes; you can have 16x16 icons with the GS compression format if you wish. The actual .png/.gif file definitely has to be 16x16 though, else you risk being unable to import them in the future.

Map/Location Sprites: The one thing that Role didn't mention was that you can technically incorporate every colour from that selection. The dimensions also have to be multiples of 8, but it is best to make them divisible by 16 instead. For example, 24x24 is probably allowed, but it is better for the game to use 32x32 (if I recall correctly from what Atrius told me). I forget what the maximum dimensions are, maybe 64 or 128. Probably 128. In fact, having them be multiples of 32 might be best.

Portraits: Nothing to add actually. Role summed it up nicely.

Um, no?  Map Location sprites have their palettes in the pics.  Or did you not look in the spoilertags?  You can only use colors from that selection.  Also, for actual world map stuff, it's in multiples of 32px, I don't see anything that isn't at least two menu icons wide.

Turns out sprite dimensions favor powers of 2 starting at 8, so: 8, 16, 32, 64 (64x64 is the max)

The GBA hardware favors the following dimensions
8x8, 8x16, 8x32
16x8, 16x16, 16x32
32x8, 32x16, 32x32, 32x64
64x32, 64x64

Notice that 64 is not used with anything less than 32.

Looks like it only uses 6 colors, though the RGB values aren't all divisible by 8...



Attack animations can have their own palette of up to 64 colors.  Of course the GBA can only use color values that are divisible by 8.

I'd think his animation would be fine... mostly because it liike he just moded one of the already used sword attack animations. just in blue instead of green. (and the other copy red) the sword is in GS1. (and the mace is in GS 2)

Zeddy, keep in mind that if it doesn't meant the palette restrictions, it won't work.  It has to use colors the GBA can actually display, so minor tweaks are going to be needed to adhere to that requirement.

Yggdrasil looks to be a bit too... skinny/underdeveloped.  It's supposed to be one hell of an epic tree, right?

@equipment:  Why is there a border?  There are no borders on gear in-game.

Have you looked into using transparency on the smaller icons, like how you did with Yggdrasil?  It should help me get a better idea of how they look then.
