I've always found this... odd.  There's a few things in Golden Sun that I never quite understood.

Namely, the difference between Swords and Blades.  It seems to try and separate them between two handed and one-handed blades... ish...  But even then, it's not quite there.

Allow me to explain:

Two Handed swords:

Greatsword
Claymore
Tachi

Hand-and-half swords (can be used in one hand, but best in two)

Uchigatana
Katana
Longsword

One handed swords

Saber
Rapier
Wakazashi
Kodachi
Tsurugi (Cloud Brand, for example)
Broadsword

Notice something?  Most Light Blades are one handed swords... Save for the saber, which sometimes is long sword type.  However, for the actual weapons that would be considered Long Sword class or higher, it's kinda... all over the place.  For example, look at the Katana.  It's arguably the biggest example here - it's Japan's Longsword (while Tsurugi would be a Japanese iteration of a traditional Broadsword).  I'm curious, though - is anyone interested in looking into the various weapons in the game and considering reclassification based on the type of weapon it is?
