(a Golden Sun Minecraft mod for version 1.11.2)

Adds a wide assortment of 3D models and world-building blocks and set dressing from the town of Vale from the Golden Sun series to Minecraft!

DOWNLOAD
(by clicking this link, you promise you'll make a back-up of your world before loading up the mod)

This mod was created using code generated by Pylo's MCreator.
If you wish to create your own Minecraft mod: https://mcreator.pylo.co/

To install, simply extract the contents of the .RAR archive and place the resulting .JAR files in your Minecraft mods folder. Forge is required to run this mod.

Creator's comments...
Version 1.0.2: "This mod is part of the Golden Sun Decor 2.0 family of Golden Sun mods for Minecraft 1.11.2. This is a dual entry in the 2.0 series, containing the sub-mods Golden Sun: Vale Essentials and Golden Sun: Fauna. These two mods were lumped together for several reasons, mainly due to a degree of cross-over in the content they add to Minecraft (you can't have Vale without the trees!). The Vale Essentials sub-mod adds a variety of 3D models, blocks, and set dressing from the town of Vale, allowing for near 1:1 Minecraft recreations of the town as it appears in-game. Some structures are included, such as the Vale Sanctum. The Vale bridge objects are modular in that they are broken out into a front piece, middle piece, and end piece, one set for each compass direction, allowing the user to customize the length of their bridges if they wish. Special blocks such as corner pieces are included as well, with a variety of grass and wall block articulations, allowing for decent transitions from walls to corners to grassy tops.

The Golden Sun: Fauna sub-mod includes a utilitarian variety of trees and plants found in the game with additional plant life planned for a future, more content-dense Fauna mod. Included so far are trees commonly found in Vale and several other GS1 cities such as Bilibin. Garet's sister's garden is included, of course! Between these two mods, users should have roughly all of the tools they need to recreate Vale as it appears in the Golden Sun series, or their own completely new Golden Sun towns! Have fun!"

SCREENSHOTS

Spoiler for Hidden:

The mod goes great with Custom NPC mods, such as Noppes' Custom NPCs, which allows custom user-created quests, in-game dialog, essentially everything anyone will ever need.

FEATURES

Venus Djinni Set Mars Djinni Set Jupiter Djinni Set Mercury Djinni Set

Golden Sun: Vale Essentials and Golden Sun: Fauna
add a huge selection of 3D models, structures, and blocks to Minecraft, including:

The Vale Sanctum
Modular Bridges
Vale Grass, Wall, Shade, and Dirt Paths with corner blocks and articulations for all block types
Foliage including flowers, ivy, bushes
Trees, large and small
And more!

PROBLEMS?

If you encounter any problems, post a crash report here so I can take a look at it.
It should be 99.8% stable. I'd be surprised if it caused any issues for anyone other than ID conflicts with other mods, which is unlikely and easily fixed.

12/10/2017: Updated download link with the following additions:

- Added Vale Essentials Misc creative tab with several new 3D objects and blocks

The update is available as a separate JAR file deliverable. Simply extract the two files from the zip file in the download link and place them in your minecraft/mods folder to install.

Working on a small update to add a couple of nice-to-have 3D objects and scenery found in the Vale plaza. The update itself is just about done, just adding a couple of things here and there before uploading it.

Some quick screenshots, one is vanilla and the others have HD Minecraft shaders enabled (it's crazy seeing Vale in HD!):

4/8/2018: Updated to version 1.0.2 with the following fixes:

- Re-scaled block and model textures for compatibility with Optifine. This fixes an issue where certain textures looked blurry if Optifine was active
- Disabled vanilla Minecraft shading on all custom models. This prevents Minecraft from adding artificial shading to the models, allowing the vibrant colors of Golden Sun to shine
- Disabled ambient occlusion on all models to resolve a bug where Minecraft would add black shadows to model block faces if Smooth Lighting was enabled

Below are a few quick screenshots showing how vibrant, sharp, and awesome the textures are in version 1.0.2:

UPDATE 9/13:

Some bad news on the Golden Sun Minecraft update recently posted on the forum for anyone interested. The developer I was working with, Flaw, decided to have a tantrum over a minor project design disagreement and restricted access to the code repository for the project. Unfortunately this means I have withdrawn my contributions to the project and will no longer be assisting with development for this project, for which I was the design lead with roles in marketing, audio design, texturing, CTM resource pack design, 3D modeling, and building, among other tasks. This is a real shame, as this was a dually ambitious but feasible project that I was more than happy to devote my spare time towards for the majority of a year, and development of this project came along farther and was of a higher quality than any Golden Sun Minecraft project I had seen -- we were fast approaching a testable state where we planned to advertise the in-progress project to interested Golden Sun fans who may have been interested in joining the team to supplement our two-man band developer and designer team. It is unfortunate Flaw has decided to take the project in this direction. I apologize on his and my behalf to anyone who may have been looking forward to following the progress of this project. Wishing Flaw all the best in his future endeavors.

Updated with a quick project update:

Golden Sun is expanding! The 2.0 mod series has merged with a unique and exciting project currently in development for Minecraft version 1.12.2! We will provide an official reveal in the near future.

Fox: Even just plain Editor work can make some difference. = At least these forums are indexed on the Search engine. I was also curious about whether to um... go through all the topics on these forums and take all the important stuff out/placed into a folder for a bit of organization. Would be a bonus since if something ever happened to this forum, or if we ever wanted to start afresh again, it wouldn't be that difficult to do so.
December 24, 2019, 09:23:03 PM
Fox: One thing is for sure. This place has become completely dead. (Mostly because of Discord.)  = I don't think much will happen with this forum unless I, Salanewt, or someone else does a thing.
December 24, 2019, 09:18:05 PM
Fox: Probably not?

Luna_blade: I suppose this is the last Christmas of this forum?
December 24, 2019, 06:50:51 PM
Luna_blade: Yay thanks for the coins
December 19, 2019, 04:39:45 AM
Fox: Okay, another thought... "gsmagic" could be the code name/project name... and "Golden Sun Magic" could be the more formal official name... (As in using both names.)  -  I still need to look into these other games as well... so who knows if it could be better to call it Camelot Magic if those should ever be supported to a decent standard.  Would probably be a long time from now, though. As I can be pretty lazy.
December 18, 2019, 10:01:39 PM
Foreclosure: gsmagic is fine
December 17, 2019, 05:44:32 PM
Fox: Also. I call my program "gsmagic" and not "GSMagic" =P (Not asking for correction/I being silly)... Had to call it something, so picked something short.  Maybe I should rename it to Golden Sun Magic later. *shrug*
December 17, 2019, 05:35:04 PM
Fox: (And "Golden Sun" instead of "GS" to reduce confusion that would likely not be there anyway... when "Golden Sun" doesn't take up much space to start with. (Imagine being new and thinking GS meant GameShark, or some other oddity. Ew.)) - All just thoughts...I'm still going with most of this not mattering that much, though.
December 17, 2019, 05:12:55 PM
Fox: "Misc. GS Hacking" = That name looks odd, so I'd probably just go with "Golden Sun Hacking"
December 17, 2019, 05:08:05 PM
Fox: I tempted to also suggest the Editors can go in the first category. Since the Editor is the reason this place exists in the first place. (I think.)
December 17, 2019, 04:53:19 PM
Fox: (combined = Not meant to be taken literally... but rather.... to generalize things more, since it apparently looks like we don't need the extra space no one is using.)
December 17, 2019, 04:48:49 PM
Fox: Worse still... we've only used those for Golden Sun content.... and there's not much there.
December 17, 2019, 04:45:53 PM
Fox: E.g. Maybe everything in "Assets & Discussion" could be combined with "Creative Works".... I don't feel like sound and art apply to general hacking anyway... that only comes into play when you have tools to insert them.
December 17, 2019, 04:40:26 PM
Fox: categories and/or forums
December 17, 2019, 04:36:48 PM
Fox: Everything else seems to be about right, though. Perhaps some categories could be combined(?), but doesn't really matter that much.
December 17, 2019, 04:33:03 PM
Fox: (I still think The Community section fits best at the bottom. =P)
December 15, 2019, 05:10:04 PM
Salanewt: Heya! I'm planning to get the demo up today, but if you can't wait then it's already available on the Discord.
December 15, 2019, 04:12:27 AM
Fox: (Then sell the badges on the Trade Center for a very high price... and give a lot of active people coins to buy them with, so they can basically transfer the coins to me if they want something... Gosh I could be a naughty hoarder. =P)
December 15, 2019, 04:06:19 AM
Fox: I'd buy up all the stock for each item too... but man... I think I'm too lazy for that. =P
December 15, 2019, 04:01:24 AM
Fox: There we go. That should be all of them.
December 15, 2019, 03:25:32 AM
Fox: Duplicates will still show up as separate entries on the profile as well. Interestingly enough.
December 15, 2019, 03:18:25 AM
Fox: (Well, one of each badge, at least.)
December 15, 2019, 03:18:08 AM
Fox: Now I can buy up the whole shop. :3
December 14, 2019, 08:58:08 PM
Foreclosure: Guys, I really want to see the AI overhaul demo... please fast! :D hehehe
December 14, 2019, 08:57:33 PM
Foreclosure: I sent 2 thousand coins for ya bro
December 14, 2019, 01:31:38 AM
Fox: In my opinion, even with the old system where it was set up so you could only coin people once per hour... I think it would have been far more fair if we could have also coined ourselves hourly.... since people have favoritism for certain people.... I feel like that could mitigate it some. At least to get badges that people care about the most. - Unlimited coining sounds like a step further than that, which is interesting... :)
December 14, 2019, 01:12:00 AM
Fox: Do note, that people can't coin themselves... but I feel if you got someone who's willing to transfer the coins you give them back to you... it is as though you have that coin option on yourself anyway....
December 14, 2019, 01:07:29 AM
Fox: Go to any of my forum posts, look for where it says Coins... under that, you'll see [increase] , clicking that will give me coins. You won't lose anything for doing so. Click it as much as you like... Under that, you should see Send Money (a faster option if you got the coins). Use that link to transfer your coins to me of any amount you want. (e.g. Put in 2000, means I get 2000, you lose 2000... but if I've already given you 2000+, you don't really have to see it as actually losing anything.)

Foreclosure: How do I return favor, sir?
