A couple of class questions

I was fiddling around with classes, and I wondered a couple of things.
1) How, other than Djinn, does elemental level change ingame?
2) Is it possible to make a class available to all characters?

1) Base level and djinn is all there is.
2) Item classes are the only way.

All right then, if I make a new Underwear item will it automatically get slot 18 assigned to it?

Nope.  We have no means to create new item classes yet.  You'll have to overwrite another class.
