Messages - Red Dingo

Why is Mine Ball listed in two places?

No it seems I just misunderstood what you changed. If the regular djinn/weapon unleash/summon animations can be left where they are, than I just need to rearrange the monster abilities/psynergy and create placeholder abilities for the additions.

Actually, do I need to change the Summon animations and djinn unleashes? Or are they fine as is. It's little confusing when several default animations are now listed as *Crashes game*.

It's probably just that I don't know which unleashes and use duplicate animations so I can't reassign them using just the change log. Thus far, I cannot find Sargasso, Sarcophagus, and Cyclone Slash. Actually, I think I might just be misunderstanding the change log. The Raiden's Wrath animation is 86 argument 8 right?

Couple things. I went over a patched ROM with the editor.  There are several animations missing from your list so...I was wondering about that. Also wouldn't the Jupiter healing animation still be useful for people who didn't want to overhaul their whole animation list?

In that case, I'd have to find the offsets of the sprites I want to replace and hex em with the values of the sprites with which I want to replace them. That means learning how to format customized sheets into gmspr files, right?

OR I could just use the feature on the new editor that loads sprites from your hard drive after a gazillion hours of editing the Proxians to separate their weapons and another gazillion hours to create weapon sprites for different groups. Learning to sprite and shade in the process...

Nother Edit: On a semi-related note: I believe the modern day sprite artist has a lot to thank the Impressionist movement for.

I tried changing some battle sprites to Format 0 using the new editor. First try gave me this error message:

___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Other Event: User Defined 15
for object obj_eSprites:

Error reading byte.

___________________________________________

This error kept repeating as the save progressed.

The second attempt did not give me an error message and appeared to succeed. Thing is, the format kept changing back to its previous value when I viewed another sprite and came back to the one I tried to change. Clearly the ROM's machine spirit does not like me and I don't have chocolate to appease it.

Edit: Also the Rom won't run anything other than a white screen. I think changing the compression format requires additional repointing.

Yeah, I just tried turning Felix and Jenna's battle sprites into Saturos and Menardi. All I saw was Jenna's staff floating in the air. I either need to find a way to reformat their compression values or hex edit the sprites over each other.

On a related note, what does the compression format value represent? Does it have a bearing on the address of sprites in the code?

Psychic

Psynergy.

As for what I believe Dark Adepts to be... Well, I hope you like reading.

The Aspect System, Part 1 - Fundaments
The Aspect System, Part 2 - Aspects
The Aspect System, Part 3 - Alignments

Though parts of it may make mentions about not being Golden Sun exactly, everything is taken straight from Golden Sun save the alignment system (part 3).  The alignment system is my own thing.  To me, a Dark Adept is someone who is either of the Dusk, Nadir, or Eclipse affinities.  You cannot literally wield darkness, though.  Haures and Charon are Venus elemental, and all of the Chaos Chimera's "dark abilities" were elemental in nature.

Well thought out and sound theory that explains how some Adepts of the same Element have different forms of Psynergy such as Jenna being able to heal with Mars while Garret is only able to destroy. It doesn't necessarily rule out the existence of Adepts who can manipulate the fundaments with Psynergy in a similar vein as the traditional elements though. Another caveat I must add is the presumption that metal has no elemental affinity. Going by classical alchemical theory, all matter is composed of at least one of the four elements. Metal is no exception and given one of the Venus Djinn is called Steel, the logical conclusion is that metal is primarily an Aspect of Venus. Other more complex entities, i.e. living organisms, are composed of a combination of the four elements, possibly in accordance to proportion and structure. Alchemy is the movement of elements leading to the change in the structure and distribution of a material body. Case and point: by shifting out Mars and rearranging the proportion and shape of Venus and Mercury, a living human body can be transmuted into a tree.

Thus interaction between the elements and the fundaments would probably be a bit more complex than a 4x3 chart.
