Hello, forum!
I'm Marin, Mari for short. (Pronounced like Mary)

I'm a gamer, a roleplayer and a musician of sorts.
I play a lot of first person shooters, and ocassionally an RPG. (I'm an online focused gamer, so I tend to only play RPGs once through.) I typically roleplay over MSN or in chat rooms, and I like to think I'm very good at what I do. Perhaps the only part anyone wants to hear about is my music. Pun fully intentional. I digitally arrange music. That is to say I take note sheets and cook them up into awesome for your ears. At some point or another I'll be putting my work up to be listened to.

In truth, I came here because the community is large and the forum has nice features. That and I love Golden Sun! I hope to make lots of friends and maybe get myself some new roleplay buddies. Maybe I'll even get involved with this whole hacking business. Who knows? I sure don't so if /you/ do that would be pretty scary. Some of my favorite games are Megaman, Zelda, Golden Sun (duh!), Pokemon, Global Agenda, Left 4 Dead, Halo 1, Star Wars Jedi Academy, Movie Battles 2, and Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Music, huh?  I've been really tempted to start trying to learning how to write some too lately since it's something I've never done before.  I just want to give it a shot to see how it feels, and be able to say I'm not completely incompetent at it, y'know?

I wouldn't say we are necessarily a large community, but we do get activity every now and then. (I am becoming slightly more active as I sloooowly lose interest in Yoshi's Lighthouse, they are an even more less active community.)

As for the hacking business, most people tend to play around with editors, however, if you can do any form of hex editing, that'd be interesting. (Perhaps maybe you too could become an editor creator one day.)

I know what you mean. I myself am not very good at writing music. I'm basically more attuned to being a one woman band.

Oh I prefer the Megaman universe. (Pun unintentional that time. Totally took advantage though.) Sadly I found that the Network games really didn't stimulate my attention span. That and I found the characters from the Megaman universe a lot... deeper. ^_^;

PC mostly~ I play the Wii for a game or two like Brawl and Animal Crossing. I don't own a 360 though.

I like instrumental music, mostly stuff that gets my adrenaline pumping~

I usually RP in chatrooms and or over IM. I abhor game mechanics in my RPs, but otherwise do all sorts of different stuff theme-wise, between roleplaying my favorite game series and creating more scratch stuff.

I don't really watch TV much, and I don't read manga. Ive watched some cartoons off Cartoon Network, but that's about it in regards to anime.

So, for the roleplaying you do, what genres/series do you prefer?  What characters do you tend to use?

Well... Let's see. There are a couple of different types of TO I'd be into. I'm into both sci and fantasy RPs, but not when they're mixed together so much. I abhor game mechanics being used as they shred my immersion. My preferred post length is probably somewhere around 1-2 paragraphs (Not lines!). I'm not much of a length obsession despite that. I generally will not go higher than 1 paragraph minimum, and generally will not complain about any short posts unless the situation flat out demanded more description. I'm not focused on fighting when I roleplay. I'm focused on story. That being said I usually like my plots to involve plenty of fighting despite that.

Hmm... What else can I tell you? If you click on the "My Roleplay Characters" link in my signature you'll be taken to a page I created specifically to show off the characters I have created. Currently I have plans for a Golden Sun OF, but have been too lazy to fill out her profile.

What do you think of "Stat references"?  I'm actually for them, since they are used as a good basis of comparison (showing that one character is clearly innately faster than another, so as to prevent godmoding), though your comment about mechanics makes me wonder if you'd consider such references as game mechanics...

Well, yes, I do consider stats, references or not, to be game mechanics. To be honest, I find that they really, /really/ ruin the immersion for me. Even worse than pre-determined fights. (Significantly worse even) I learned to roleplay in a place that had no moderators of any sort, and so I learned to appreciate the freedom not having game mechanics gave, as well as I learned to just ignore / block godmoders. That's... how I honestly feel.

@Salanewt: I work on music on a daily basis and often spend quite a bit of time trying to make my music sound the best it can. c:
