To be fairly honest, I am not really sure why nobody has posted about this yet.

From what I understand, it gives the illusion that the room is three dimentional, so it will move as your surroundings move behind your DS. It is also nice to know that they are planning a remake of Ocarina of Time on it (which, knowing how popular the game is, will make even more people go after the new system).

So, what does everyone thing about the 3DS? Will it be really popular, will it be a failure, or will Nintendo just come out with an upgraded version a few months later?

Have a nice day.
Oh yeah baby, £ me harder.

Nintendo seem to be treating the 3DS as an important part of there structure, much like Sony arnt with there portable device, Nintendo used to OWN console and portable and basically lost the hardcore gamers to the rivals, Nintendo cant lose the handheld side and seem to be going all out. More good name games have been announced in the first few days compared to the PSPs 5 year cycle.

Im hoping for a VC that allows GB - GBA games to be downloaded along with the WiiWare. to be honest i will be gravely disappointed it it doesnt have this feature

I hope the online on the system is good.. get rid of friend codes to allow some hardcore gaming to take place.

Hope for a built in internet browser, fully youtube capability's that allow for pictures to be saved etc... not a crap pointless on the DS...

Accouterments: achievements add alot of replay value, Would like to see something in place.

Conclususion: Nintendo showing a return of Form, Day one purchase for me.

The lineup for the 3DS already is impressive. It's graphics are incredible and I can't wait to see how the system will be used.

Ah, I really hope so too. I hope GS or GS:TLA are up for download. They're only 16 MB each... why not put up NES/SNES titles while we're at it? It'd be a lot more fun to play than the virtual console.

Ah, the internet browser. As convinient as it is to have the DSi web browser, it's just way too slow (thank goodness I'm patient!). With the new processor I wouldn't be surprised to see a much faster web browser... and maybe even Youtube D:

Wait what?...  The games you play on it as well as photos taken with the two cameras on the outside look 3D.

From what it sounds like it has a Lenticular screen filter, which is composed of lenses shaped like a cylinder cut in half to direct the light from every other vertical column of pixels on the screen to a different eye.  Basically it's the same thing as those textured cards that show 3D or changing images.  It's just a more refined version of it, so you can't actually see the ridges, but it still has the same drawbacks like not working when you aren't looking at it at the right angle.

That is exactly what I meant to say. Maybe next time I will get it right? Thanks for explaining it correctly.

Have a nice day.

I think that's what the slider thing is for - to either turn it off, or to adjust it to the angle you're currently comfortable with.

Hm... If they supply a game with the 3DS, I wonder what it would be? For the DS Classic, it was a Metroid demo, with polygon-like Metroid thingies, and then some actual Metroids. I hope this system comes with a nice game, but I have no idea what it would be (a game with Yoshi would be sweet to play on the 3DS, especially if it is anything like controlling Yoshi in Super Mario Galaxy 2 (but without Mario)).

Have a nice day.

The 3DS uses a Parallax Barrier to make it look 3D.
"You state that I have misinterpreted my results, and it looks as though you believe my views to be unsound. Your arguments are those of an eminent scholar. I was myself a fair scholar. For years I pondered, so to speak, day and night over books, and filled my head with sound views–very sound ones, indeed—those of others. But I could no[t] get to practical results. I then began to work and think independently. Gradually my views became unsound, but they conducted me to some sound results." - Nikola Tesla

Fils-Aime confirms there's less than a year to wait for Nintendo's next handheld.
June 21, 2010
by Martin RobinsonThe arrival of Nintendo's 3DS could be sooner than we hoped as Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that the company are looking to release the handheld in all major territories by March next year.

Quite easily the star of last week's E3, the 3DS wowed with its no-glasses 3D display and strong support from Nintendo and third-party publishers – leaving many wondering when they could get their hands on the device and how much cash they'd have to part with to do so.

"The reason we haven't announced a launch date or pricing is that, first, we wanted to get reaction here," Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime told Industry Gamers, "Secondly, we'll be making individual market decisions in terms of what's happening in Japan, what's happening in the Americas, what's happening in Europe. The one thing, for sure, is that we will launch in all of our major markets by March 31, 2011."

We've reached out to Nintendo to confirm the date, and while we wait for word back check out our 3DS Launch Center for all last week's news, demo impressions and videos of the device.

Man, the 3DS. I was hoping that they would bring back the GBA slot but it appears that I am forever stuck in a past generation of consoles. I REFUSE to sell my DS Lite. Backlight+GBA Slot is okay for me. XD

I actually am looking forward to Starfox 64 DS. Who knows? I might get a 3DS for christmas one year.

Salanewt

Oh, I plan on trying to get one as soon as it comes out, but I have a feeling that, like the Wii, I will have to wait several months before I can even get near a store with one (considering new consoles tend to sell out at most stores). I myself am looking forward to the New Paper Mario. Chain Chomp Partner!

That is why I am keeping my DS, so I can continue to play my GBA games.

Have a nice day.

Can't wait until gamestop has it open for preorder.  I'm totally going to be paying as much as I can off on it before it comes out...

leaf

As long as I still play either GBA or DS games, and as long as it doesn't break, I'm not getting rid of my DS. The original DS was designed brilliantly, finally putting the start/select buttons in a convenient place. It's a shame they went back to the original gameboy design on that with later DS models, and now with the 3DS.

Salanewt

Wait, you have an original DS too Leaf? Yeah, best save it, since it will practically become an antique in the future (and moreso than the GBA, since that was being sold for a longer period of time than the GBA SP, compared to DS with DS Lite (I think?)). Besides, one of my friends has had several DS Lites, and they were all so flimsy, and one filled with hot chocolate... But this is off topic.

So yeah, as with my GBAs to DS, I will treat the 3DS as a system that I can use to play DS and 3DS games, but my DS will be used for GBA (except for transfering data), and my GBAs for my GBC games. It would have been nice if the original DS could play GBC games, but the cartridge slot is shaped differently from the GBA cartridge slot.

Have a nice day.
Oh yeah baby, £ me harder.

Rolina

It WILL play DS games - this has been confirmed.  Not GBA, though - here's hoping for Virtual Console capabilities to make up for that (supposedly, the DSi didn't have the space for a VC or something, which is BS - they could easily have made the space.  Don't get me started on the XL having the same BS reason).

zman9000

You guys know there is videos of the 3DS on youtube.

or at least a prototype. ( it uses the camera to make it 3D )

I will post a link if i find it again.

yeah... I never pre-order anything.

I like to see if other people lose their money by buying a red ring of death before I spend the big bucks.

also if your already brain washing her mind for you why not have her buy one for every one here. LOL

EDIT: The way I said that sound like I enjoy others pain, which I don't!
