Isn't it possible to just temporarily make tri-element classes inaccessible so as not to make the glitch devastating?  I did so in my first runthrough of hacking.

I don't have an update at the moment, but posting to bump the thread and say that the hack is now at version 0.4.

Changelog.txt
[spoiler=Changelog]- Hack Progress
From the start until just after the Killer Ape.  Includes the nearby Mars Djinni.

- Weapons
No weapon numbers have been changed, but all weapons have a description.  Descriptions have changed for some weapons.

- Armor
All armors have a description now.

- Items
All items have a description.
Curative items have been powered down.
Stat-boosting items are much better.

- Djinni
Flint is now Harrow, and Harrow's dialogue is changed (doesn't attack with a Stone Cleaver).
Forge is now Furnace.  Furnace's rate unleashing of his power has been dropped by half (compared to the video's Furnace).
Gust is now Typhoon.
Iron is now Soil.
Fever is now Aurora.
Breeze is now Pressure.
Fizz is now Bubble.
Sleet is now Rain.
...will update later.

Battleable Djinni (at this point: Furnace, Pressure) have been upgraded and made into mini-bosses for all intents and purposes.  They give no exp or coins, but they can showcase what they can do unleash-wise.  Their names have been changed to reflect the Djinni.

Venus Djinni stats have been altered but still fit the total stats of before.
All mentioned Djinni have new text and re-arranged animation.

- Psynergy
Blast/Mad Blast/Fiery Blast has been changed to Bang/Heavy Bang/Big Bang just to separate the two Burst psynergy.

- Enemies
All non-sanctum monsters so far have HP regen, and all psynergy-using monsters so far have PP regen (which doesn't seem to work).

- Bosses
Tret, Saturos, and Killer Ape bosses are complete.  Each has their own technical strategy to make things easier, but still allows for the standard strategy to work (albeit, at a higher level).
Mystery Man and Mystery Woman finally seem like they barely escaped with their lives (aka, wounded).  They're still undefeatable by the Younger Isaac and Garet, but it's possible to survive three rounds now.

- Classes
Squire line, Guard line, and Wind Seer line have been equalized at 620% total.  Garet isn't crappy anymore.
Young Isaac and Garet's classes have names now.
Will be working on the remaining classes next.

- Character Innates
Perfect level ups are in the works to become more and more frequent.

- Misc. Stuff
Will be looking for some help in taking existing animations and adding the djinni icon to them.[/spoiler]

I've been away so long unofficially that I think it'd be the responsible thing to actually make it official:

I'm currently in Culinary School and I'm heading up a huge project with a huge amount of people inside my culture group, so between that and my girlfriend my time has been significantly cut down.

I'm just coming on to leave this message; I finish school in June but I'm headed to the Philippines in August, so barely any time in-between.  I restart school in September/October, and I finish that segment in March/April.  By that time I might be moving out of BC to Newfoundland (depends on how funds go) so yeah.


Btw, Role, you were right.  I think you know what I'm talking about.

While I agree with the general disdain of the posting style, the basic idea presented is in fact doable, even if it does feel like it's betraying the idea of the series as a whole.

Edit:
And now I have a variant on that idea: each individual weapon grants a different class by just equipping it.  Instead of merely getting more attack with each weapon, instead you get a class.  Simpler to grant bonuses a la Elven Shirt, etc.

Of course, needs the functionality to be doable.

I would prefer other classes but that would screw over another two people not named Tyrell.  At least with this setup only one member suffers.

It's very interesting to try out the optional bosses with a low level.  After beating Ancient Devil with an average level of 41, and the final boss with an average level of 43, I decided to try Star Magician at Level 43.


Except, my classes were different.
Front: Karis (Pure Mage), Matthew (Protector), Amiti (Pure Mage), Sveta (Pure Mage)
Back: Himi (Curse Master), Eoleo (Hull Reaver), Tyrell (Warrior - basically all the spare Djinni), Rief (Pure Mage)

I'm surprised at how easy that battle was, and I gained 4 levels with everyone in the front and 2 in the back.  It was ridiculous.

Never mind.  I beat him at Level 41.  Abusing Coatlicue was the only way to get myself back on track.  It was hard, especially since Rief got exchanged for Sveta.

So, I think I'm screwed.  Party Level is about Level 41, and I didn't save before facing Ancient Devil.  (didn't know)

Anyways, he steals Rief, and so every turn that Rief isn't unleashing Heartbreaker he's using Pure Ply or my Summons.


Currently, I managed to fight back so that it's Turn 14, Coatlicue active on Matthew, Karis, and Sveta, (Amiti died during the turn I summoned her :( ).  Any pointers?

(Btw, I love how most everything I had planned for my hack is IN Dark Dawn.)

Good to hear.  I thought it was going to be like that Briggs bug from v0.2 (where if you alter it once and try to alter it again it sticks to the former).

I'm pretty sure that you'd have to change a Djinni to have a Venus sprite and orientation but code it to be a Mars Djinni.

If that's correct, it's far beyond what the editor can do atm.

For those that wish to be testers, I would like to request that you do not look at the changes in the editor or read the changelog until after you beat Tret.

For everyone else, here's the changelog file for Version 0.1.

Shaman's rod casts Slash currently, but will be dropped on the next update.  (Was used for testing some things.)
